While I really enjoyed KOTOR, if the guild decided to move to this new MMO that would be the end for me. I like WoW because its WoW, not just because its an MMO. And I definitely wouldn't play WoW without Downfall.
I liked kotor on console. not sure how it would do in mmo.
People say it is going to be a competition for wow. Only if it can be done very well and keep a great player base throughout. It is generally in a diffferent overall mood than wow though and so it should do better than some other games because it doesn't rely on the dungeons and dragons fantasy type of game but off of Star Wars, of course so did Tabula Rasa and that didn't do anything. Of course I have yet to meet a person who played wow and didn't like star wars.
I think what publishers should be looking at now to compete with WoW, or Diablo, or even KOTOR if it is done well are real time shooting games done in mmo style. Like Battleground Europe which has a good following, Like COD, It would be extended long term battles with objectives, and teams. Just like the WoW pvp bg system, but it is done in a very good way, and i think that would end up attracting more people to an mmo than any other game because it is different, in a way, and it offers the action, and fast paced first person shooter along with the strat of any game, But on a very large objective scale.
Age of Conan sucked, as far as Old Republic goes, it is still way too early to make any kind of decision. With that said, it was announced yesterday at e3 that there is going to be a Tom and Jerry MMO. Also blizzcon will announce Blizz's next gen MMO currently known as Project Hydra.
Because its bioware I expect it to be of top quality, I know its there first MMO but these guys always deliver. Im going to buy it and then determine if its better than wow but no guaranteed switch. But if it is better ima switch forsure.
I know Bioware's quality, as I am a fan of the KotOR games.
However, having high-quality single player games does not mean you can make a high-quality mmo. See also: SquareEnix and Final Fantasy 11 Online.
When it peaked at its top playerbase (1.5 million players), WoW had already ballooned to 6million accounts. WoW has since doubled, while FFXI is dying out slowly and painfully.
Not saying that KotOR online will be bad, but I am just saying that people might not want to jump to conclusions about the game before it's been released. Nothing is quite as funny as when people quit WoW (or any game, really) for "the best game coming out soon" - only to see them come back and ask to be re-invited to the guild because it wasn't God's gift to gamers.
It happened to Warhammer Online, it happened to Age of Conan, and unless Bioware can deliver the same super-high quality of gaming in an MMO that they can in a turn-based Dungeons and Dragons-based game, it'll likely happen then, too.
I personaly can't wait for it. I am a hudge fan of Star Wars. I still till this day play SWG. A game I remember long ago kick WOW ass in game ratings and players till SWG took its hudge nerf and change what the game once was so unique too the MMO world. Now that Bio was rights too it I am sure it won't be a let down. WoW I feel will take a hudge lose too its clients since a hudge number of WoW clients were SWG players. Atleast oneday I will finally Lay too rest my Elder Jedi and move on :( The Memories will last forever as the old SWG was the greatest MMO ever made. I just hope KOTOR will live up too it.

Jayel — Wed, 06/03/2009 - 22:32I too loved old SWG. Once they changed everything in the game I just couldn't play anymore, though I did enjoy the air combat expac for a while.
I hope KOTOR ends up being a great game!!
