Hello
esko — Sun, 06/07/2009 - 03:43
I am posting this as requested by Garreth. My name is Esko and I hail from the small and unpopulated server of Jaedenar. I spoke with Garreth in regards to myself and 5 other friends transferring from there to here. He instructed me to bypass the application and make a post here with our armory light links and UI shots.
I am a SV Hunter and here is my build: http://armory-light.com/us/Jaedenar/Esko

Gnomorals and myself will most likely be transferring Sunday night, with Soil on Monday and the rest shortly after.
Thank you so much for this opportunity. If there is anything you would like to know please ask. I will try to watch this thread while I work today.

I am definately interested in
bluetouguyss — Tue, 06/09/2009 - 20:27I am definately interested in seeing what these guys can do! Make sure and sign up for torvos EP!!!1 raid on sat am. That is a great way to get seen and get loot! I will be out of town this weekend but am a regular in that raid and I know you will enjoy running with torvo and a lot of the regulars that attend. Good luck in your new server home!

Hia gain, everyone! Wow,
esko — Sun, 06/07/2009 - 12:12Hia gain, everyone! Wow, thank you for both the compliments and the much needed criticism. After all, botha re needed to know what is right and what needs improvement. Id like to adress a few things:
As far as badges go, these are all new chars for us as of March basically. We were horde side players on Echo Isles raiding there through BC and early LK. We rolled DKs on Jaedenar when the patch that let you roll them wherever you wanted to was released. It was purely meant as a joke and something to be done only when not raiding. Gnomorals and I did it as a way to have some fun. We did not expect a mass exodus from our Horde guild and we did not expect to love a PVP server so much (EI is a PVE server and I will NEVER go PVE again). After realizing how much we loved it, we realized that we werent getting anywhere with an all DK guild and we started transferring old chars we had lying around from pre BC and during BC. So leveling for some was necessary (Caramun only hit 80 less than 3 weeks ago and look at him lol). Then we could not fill out our own 10 mans so we tried partnering with a guild but that did not work. The guild leader could not even show up on time to his own raid. UGH!
We then joined a small guild which was great for comradarie but once again, filling 10 mans were hard and 25 mans? Forget it. Finally a few weeks ago out of frustration we merged with one of the top guilds on the server only to find that they, too, could not get their act together and were quite okay with people signing up and no showing, or people signing in 1 hour after the raid starts. Yesterday's run was supposed to start at 7 server and at 8:15 we were still not raiding but still getting folks in the raid. Things like that irked us all.
So Thats why we do not look experiienced when in reality we are.
Also, I would very much like to thank you all on the gear recommendations. I will take care of that today before I do my server transfer.
As far as Bobby * Terra go, they PVP ALOT! lol. So they probably didn't have any PVE gear on. Sorry about that.
If there any questions, feel free to ask!
PVE, Is for people to afraid
cromi — Wed, 06/10/2009 - 00:02PVE, Is for people to afraid to do real wow playing.I miss the days when you had to manually turn off your pvp signet, Or Jenkins was still a joke to my immature horde mind, And Steven Colbert had his hair. I remember it like it was yesterday.
But enough of my meandering, As a group you seem to be a tight knit group of raiders which is good, and means that you are less likely to do stupid things, and are experienced together. But in raiding how do you look at dual specs with everyone, Do you have them, does everyone fulfill the same role of dps everytime, or when you are short on something do you have say your warrior throw on a shield and pretend to hold agro, Or your pally go to heals?
thanks!!
moriella — Sun, 06/07/2009 - 12:26"As far as badges go, these are all new chars for us as of March basically"
Thanks for letting us know. I'd much quicker support a re roll than a totally new player. I'm glad you cleared it up :)
I was in vent, and they did
saedo — Sun, 06/07/2009 - 11:26I was in vent, and they did sound like a good bunch. But since with them talking about EJ, and I being an EJ nerd, here's a few things that baffle me, not that I'm any expert on their classes, just a bit on gearing:
Esko
Soilbleed
Gnomorals
Djbobbya
Terraform
Caramun
In conclusion, good a lot of you pick'ed up JC due to the min-maxing benefits of it I assume. Too bad it's nerfed by next patch. But you are all terrible at maximizing the benefits of the prismatic quality of the gem. Don't just slap it into whatever slot you can, especially red ones. Prismatics mean they count for all colors, they can replace your terrible gems, like blues and yellows so you can gem straight red, or whatever your 1 favorite color is. You oughta have a favorite stat.
And another thing to adjust is your hit, good that you're all self-sufficient in hit and all. But we WILL provide raid buffs, expect them. All your overcapping is doing is wasting dps stats. So lowering it will increase raid dps whenever you run with us.
Hey, thank you for looking things over.
Soilbleed — Tue, 06/09/2009 - 17:53Soilbleed
Kinda just wanted to respond to let you know I appreciate all the information I can get. No one person will ever know every single detail about their class. That's why we have theorycrafty discussions.
I wanted to explain a few things. Somewhat to let people know that I have done my homework. I do for every class I play. The hit obsession was for the reason you stated. We had mainly 10 mans and when we did have 25s there weren't spriests or boomkin that specced into the talent in sight.
Every discussion I've read and every sim I've ran has stated that ap gives more sustained dps than gearing pure agi. I'd gladly try either way to see for myself. I'd most definitely like to speak to Onrique about it as well since I see he went pure agi. Actually I really wanna talk to him about enh shaman in general hah.
The prismatic in the glove's red socket was intentional. I still needed to make the hit cap by gemming. I'm a BS so i used the prismatic in the red to use the BS slot for a pure hit gem.
With my MH, yes I am losing quite a bit of dps potential to make hit cap yet again. Also at that time using a berserking on a naxx 10 MH didn't seem worth it. Now it will to make sure I'm at my max capability for raids.
With my OH. Besides The Stray from trash in naxx 10 there is not a slow OH from any 10s. Oh also Touch of Madness from yogg 10. We weren't quite there yet.
Again, thank you for actually looking us all over. It's nice to be in a guild where people know their shit. Who do the math and give solutions. I've changed my gear around quite a bit since we posted this so I'm hoping for a decent increase. At the moment I am trying the pure ap route. I tend to use Arinen from Ensidia as my base model since I haven't had another decent enh shaman to speak to. At this time he is straight ap so I'm trying that out.
Thank you once again.

Cool. Well yea I kinda just
saedo — Tue, 06/09/2009 - 22:40Cool. Well yea I kinda just went with what Onrique does since he went Agi over AP, and he is among our top dps with it. Will have to get him in here to know what's up.
Sounds like you're only looking at fist OH options. Maces are all One Handers too so they can be thrown in the offhand so it's a lot more available than the 2 you've mentioned. And how does [Pride] compare? I've just always thought slow outweighed fast for enh, but maybe not enough dps?
Yeah I haven't worked around
Soilbleed — Wed, 06/10/2009 - 00:11Yeah I haven't worked around Pride yet. I need to see if the speed outweighs the stats I would lose. I have no idea how much of a difference a slower weapon will impact my dps. Besides the two I mentioned, any other slow OHs are from 25s =/. Like Angry Dread from Noth would be perfect but the few times I've been in naxx 25 with this toon I haven't seen it.
Fast OH used to be viable until 3.1 but now slow is the only way to go.
Thanks for the Help
Gnomorals — Tue, 06/09/2009 - 01:34Gnomorals
Thanks for the help.. I fixed my JC gemming, Dont have an excuse for that failure.. I actually wanted to kick my own ass for not seeing it..
as for the Hit, I need to work on this.. In my other guilds I couldnt rely on Raid Buffs for my Hit.
I need some work with my Lock.. I used to do around 3800 - 4200 dps in Ulduar 10 with my 0/40/31. I left for vacation over Memorial Day weekend and when I returned I havnt been able to do over 3800 dps, And I have tried several Different spec's.. Any Help would be Greatly appreciated.. Elitist Jerks has done nothing but let me down lately, Im not sure if its my Gear, Build, or Rotation.. or a bit of all three.
Well JC gemming looks good
saedo — Tue, 06/09/2009 - 09:48Well JC gemming looks good now. That gives you another 4 int and 6 spirit iirc from the gem switches.
For hit, I suppose you can keep a couple of gear combos for one with buffs and one without. But you can def expect them in our serious 25 mans at least.
Well I dunno about locks to help with dps beyond stat checks. Um, was there a nerf? Other issues could be added latency for some reason, lower frame rates for some reason, missing raid buffs in Uludar 10 from the usual, etc.
Talk to Watchesup, or

esko — Sun, 06/07/2009 - 13:03Ok....changes just made to my hunter:
+16 agi to boots
+22 agi to cloak
+20 agi to gloves
+110 AP on 2H Wep
Replaced gem in chest with Shifting Twillight Opal
To Esko's set up.
Derchlon — Sun, 06/07/2009 - 11:54@Esko: Saedo hit pretty much everything I was going to say, except you could also change your 16 agi cloak enchant to a 22 agi one. Instead of the 44 AP Saedo suggests, I'd toss 20 agi on those gloves instead. For most SV hunters, 1 Agility is equal to 2.4ish AP. That puts 20 Agi somewhere around 48AP in value (estimated of course).
85AP is a decent placeholder enchant on that staff of yours if you plan on replacing it soon, but understand, you never know how long you'll be using it. Its best to have it maxed out to 110AP all the time, for optimum raid performance. For progression raiding, this is a REQUIRED upgrade.
Survival talents look placed well. Its a solid current cookie cutter build, and will perform beautifully for your gear level.
Personally, I think the gemming/enchanting looks alright for a someone who isn't expecting to do much endgame right away. Looks more like you're into doing 5 mans/10 mans, without relying on other people to bring buffs for you. That 85AP staff enchant tells me that pretty strongly too. Gear just seems to be the biggest issue here.
looking deep
moriella — Sun, 06/07/2009 - 11:43Interesting observations. I didnt look deeply at them as I figured they are pretty much 'in'. However, with these revelations I'm a touchdisappointed. I'm worried that these may be personable ppl who come across well and have high regard for themselves when in fact. well...
Perhaps they are trainable.
WTF is it with lock and hit cap? We have 3 in guild who just cant seem to master the concept. I've done the research and sp or crit being > hit for a lock is not even thinkable at attainable levels.
Garreth called me at 11:30
Shihli — Sun, 06/07/2009 - 10:06Garreth called me at 11:30 last night to let me know about a group of people from Jaedenar that he thinks have a lot of potential.
I'd love to see more guildies on here and get some discussion moving.
initial feelings
moriella — Sun, 06/07/2009 - 10:42My first reaction is these guys have SO LITTLE raid experience.
One way I look at how much a character has actually done is checking acheivements and looking specifically at # of badges gathered. More than anything else this will tell you how many times they did heroics/did raids.
These guys are all really really low.
They only cleared naxx 25 at the end of april tho it looks like they cleared it all in a single night. Are these all re rolls in the last couple months, cause thats sorta what it looks like. Either that, or they are all brand new nubs that only started playing wow this year.
As per discussions gar and I have had we've all been in agreement that new wotlk players just dont have a grasp on what it takes, as they have never had to really work for anyhing.
OTOH, I wasnt in vent last night at 3am my time. So maybe there is something I dont know. If they are joining, they dont look like KB raider material. Perhaps mAlt, torvos raid, or some 10 man who needs fill ins.
None of these guys will drop
garreth — Sun, 06/07/2009 - 11:02None of these guys will drop right into KB/Salmon. However, their availability and dedication are what w need. And their gear is not half bad. I told them that we'd ride them on getting some experience and they're more than happy to fire up naxx25 and ulda10s for a bit more gear. Honestly, I'm impressed and all are smart.
Knoppix only just started
Shihli — Sun, 06/07/2009 - 10:51Knoppix only just started playing at the tail end of Burning Crusade. Don't undercut skill by claiming a lack of experience.
Furthermore, saying "People that started playing WoW in WotLK don't have what it takes" is a bit of an all-encompassing statement that has no real evidence to back it up apart from subjective observation.
Lastly, KB needs strong raiders. Not just reliable ones, but good solid dps and such. We can't flat out turn people away simply because they didn't get 500 Valor badges before Ulduar.
If these guys impressed Garreth enough to warrant calling me on the phone at 11:30 last night, I think they're probably worth more than relegating them to alt raids. We should see what they can do before we start hacking away at their lack of badges.

I believe I raised the question as to if they were re rolls? A re roll is a MUCH better thing than a fresh player. I said nothing about a re roll being bad! In fact I compared it to a brand new player.

are you playing devils advocate here? Ppl who raided in classic or BC got experience and learned the ins and outs of their class. Also, you are putting words in my mouth and putting quote marks to attribute things to me which are not quotations AT ALL. Really?
Perhaps you should go back and read my post again and quit jumping off the deep end at every word I say. Beacuse, once again - you are missing the point entirely.

They are going to be starting
saedo — Sun, 06/07/2009 - 10:50They are going to be starting in EP, unless some get roped into whatever fill in needed earlier in the week. Some of em supposedly have BC raiding experience. Some/all of them re-rolled and raided Horde side for a time too I believe. But in Wrath, never found much opportunity to 25 man raid (fail guilds).

I am impressed with the amount of work Esko put into finding what seems to be a suitible home (both guild and server) for he and his friends. Of all of the servers and guilds he researched they see something in Downfall and that to me is the biggest compliment on the great things Downfall has to offer.
Looking forward to getting to know you and your friends Esko!
