Glory of the Ulduar Raider
Shihli — Fri, 07/03/2009 - 02:08Man, what a slog. Really is a pretty mount though. Zildo and Pudolski will be getting their mounts probably next raid lockout period - Pudo had to miss our 4-Tower Flame Leviathan kill as well as our hard-mode Mimiron kill, and Zildo had to miss the hard-mode Vezax kill.
That said, ranked in order of personal view as "easiest" to "hardest" hard modes in Ulduar10 (mind you, this only counts the REAL hard-modes, not semi-hard modes like 3-Tower Flame Leviathan, 2-Elder Freya, etc) :
Easiest
XT-002 Deconstructor
Iron Council
Hodir
Thorim
General Vezax
.
.
.
Flame Leviathan
Freya
Yogg-Saron
Mimiron
Hardest
To be sure, the only ones of these that is truly a pushover is XT-002 Deconstructor. Iron Council is made monumentally easier if your tank is a paladin, but it can be relatively easily done without one. Hodir is simply a dps race - we've actually managed to do it with two people dead halfway thru the fight. Thorim could be argued to be easier than Hodir, so long as you're ranged-heavy.
Vezax is simply a matter of mana conservation on the parts of your healers, along with strong dps when it's needed.
After him, the going gets a lot more difficult. Flame Leviathan requires near-perfect execution, and you cannot lose a vehicle except *MAYBE* the motorcycle, and maybe a siege engine. Even then it's made significantly more difficult if a vehicle is lost, and if a demolisher is destroyed, it's pretty much done.
Freya is the same old boss, except she and her adds hit about twice as hard with every physical and magical ability. Oh, and she gains the ability to interrupt spellcasts and silence casters (Ground Smash), root raiders in place and deal damage to them, and apply massive DoT spells on random players. And she has more health.
Yogg-Saron is the same old fight, really - except your raid receives 20% less benefit from healing spells, takes 20% more damage from all sources, moves 20% slower in the brain room, and deals 30% less damage with all attacks. Also, all of the adds in the fight attack 100% faster and cast spells 300% faster.
And finally, there's Mimiron. It's exactly the same fight, except that his machines have about 40% more health and deal 25% more damage. And there's doomfires that spawn and can cover nearly the whole room if you're not careful. Oh, and there's Frost Bombs that put out fires, but also deal huge damage and knock you across the room if you're near them. Then there's the Fire Extinguisher Bots that do the same thing as the Frost Bombs, 'cept they run all over the room.
All of that said ... the ride was a blast!

saedo — Fri, 07/03/2009 - 09:53Don't forget the sanity for Yogg. You have no more wells, so have to make every point count.
And Vezax is probably considerably easier with our Resto Druid. The whole melee clearcasting thing means he can be more liberal with heals than anyone else.
