Well, its been slowly leading to this, and i cant say i expected it to end THIS way, but sadly it did. Note to all reading: this is not a qq u guyz succk and dont gimme purplz /gquit, but rather an indefenite hiatus
For the past 4 years of my life WoW, (and for the majority of those 4 wow years the Downfall community) have been a constant in my life. I would never quit WoW on my own terms, not because i enjoy the game, but because i enjoy the people. Mainly you people (yes, even you turff and Closer, even if it dont seem like it). Some of you i only recently met, but alot of you ive actually grown up knowing.
Yes i said it, ive grown up knowing internet personas, and actually being influenced by them. Thats what happens when you start playing a video game at age 12, and play that same game with those same people through your adolesence. People i talked with when i first started with raid awesome have had a lasting impression on me, and even though ive moved around lots since than, alot of my fonder memories are of being in essentially a 40 person chatroom with asplosions. Ive had dogs die, friends leave, brothers move out, but Downfall, Raid awesome, whatever you were called / are calling yourselves, you guys were constantly there to provide humor, advice, and most importantly open ears...or, eyes.
Due to some recent issues in real life however, (see "Joy riding is not as joyous as one would think") it would seem that my WoW time is coming to an end. I dont know if its coming to an end for real however. I outgrew the game itsself a long time ago, but everytime i think im about to outgrow the entire WoW universe wholely, you guys grow up. As i hit one landmark (lets say getting my beginners license), you guys hit others (BABEHHHZ), and i actually feel more joy for yall than i do when RL people i knos accomplish something, so i think that counts for something. Irregardless of sappy feelings (this is the ONLY thing ive gotten sappy about over the internet), I hope yall are still here when i come back, otherwise there wont be much point in coming back.
Even though we've never "met", i love yall a whole bunch, in the most legal way possible. I hope nothing bad happens and downfall neverasplodes, and if you guys switch games as an entire crew i want to hear about it one way or another.
In summary, I bid you see ya later hopefully

Many others have already said their thoughts about your retirement and have known you for a lot longer than I have. So instead I will summarize what you mean to me as a person.
Like Aidin I would often forget your age until your parents called you. However even as mature as you are/were you were also able to do something above and beyond that. For those often times to serious about this game like myself, you reminded me of the games purpose for having fun, and also not to get so serious as to lose the little kid that is still in all of us.
Every person to varying degrees has a little kid left inside them and from what I was able to notice sid, you were able to bring that back out even in the scourgiest of us.
So I guess the best advice I can give you for leaving is different than what everyone else will. Yes you should do good in school, date some chicks, get laid etc. But more than that. Be who you are, say what you feel. And when the going gets tough, find that inner child deep down inside you for which everything even in real life was once an adventure.

You might have been 12 when you started raiding w/ this little band of scrubs (and after reading Kog's post about epic Sid moments, I do remember being there for your mad Nef tanking skills), but I wasn't even married when I started playing wow. It's kind of funny how we ALL grew up on this game. You are certainly right about things coming and going IRL, but it is especially bittersweet for me to see you move on, simply because I know that THIS is the time in your life where you will really start to be laying the ground for the man you are to become (cheesy, I know....but still true).
I hope that you do well in school and take it seriously. You are a smart young man, and I know that if you put the effort towards doing well, you'll have a bright path ahead of you. Go to college. Don't drink too much, but if you do, for the love of god don't drive anywhere. Get laid, but wear a rubber. Be nice to your parents. Ask a girl out on a date, and buy her some flowers that AREN'T roses or carnations. Remember that all women are crazy, and all men are stupid. And if you ever need advice about women, send me a PM.

I don't really know if you were aware of this, but I was also younger than most of the people in the guild. (I know, shocking. I'll give you a moment to collect yourself) I remember when I first started to talk in green chat, Garreth said I was similar to this guy called Ensidious. After playing with you and talking to you in guild chat, I can safely say that I feel honored to be compared to you :P You're a great guy and while it's sad to see you go, I'm glad you are going out in a fiery explosion of glory rather than a tidal wave of QQ that seems to be expected from most players around our age :D
Now go. And don't come back until RL is on farm status.

Sid, you are among the nicest

Back in our Pre-BC raiding days as our pre-pubescent main tank you gave us the confidence that we would never fail to down a new boss for lack of effort/talent on the part of our MT. Furthermore, you were always involved in giving other tanks advice with respect to gear/spec/strategies. You were an essential part of the raid and a good friend to all who knew you.
Since then you have given whatever time you have to helping with raids and when that hasn't been possible you've always at least been there to joke around with in guild chat and share a laugh. I think I speak for the other Canadians in guild in saying that our little contingent is going to miss you being one of the few people that both contributes to and understands our infrequent (but still hilarious) references that fly over the heads of our Yank friends.
I'll finish this little Ensidious love-in with a few stories about Sid's glory days as MT in Raid: Awesome for the people who weren't around to raid with us back then:
1) On the second night of Raid: Awesome's history (known at that point as Old Guard's Raid 2... bear in mind that this is before Garreth, Katibug, Lemonn, Crossgrip, et al stepped down from Raid 1 to join our raid) when we were having trouble with the trash pulls leading up to Lucifron Ensidious figured it would be a good idea to Charge headlong into a pathing Ancient Core instead of a) pulling it back for the group to fight and/or b) waiting for the healers to have mana (WE WERE IN SOME LEET GREENZ). Unfortunately his bravery was rewarded by the presence of a second Corehound suddenly popping up and running right at him. At this point a ranged DPS (I honestly can't remember who it was) decided to lob some spell/arrow at the second Corehound and make it come running at the healers before Sid could pick up aggro. The Corehound immediately breathed and pretty much one-shotted half of our raid. What followed is one of the all-time greatest Jadrax diatribes.
After whiping and pulling for a second time we waited for thirty-five minutes for the correct person to loot the Corehound so that somebody could skin it. It was Sid's loot. When he finally spoke and said how sorry he was Jadrax realized how young Sid was at the time.
Jadrax didn't stop yelling at Ensidious.
2) On our first night of attempts on Razorgore in Blackwing Lair Sid went AFK for about half an hour. When he returned he explained that his mom had been chewing him out. Seeing as how he was an important part of our strat to kite the adds this was rather frustrating to most people. However, upon his return he did amazingly well and he and Gares kited about 2/3 of the room between them. We killed the boss.
3) Ensidious once lived through a Burning Adrenaline on Vael (presumably due to some awesome avoidance, Lifegiving Gem, and some pretty leet heals) and tanked the boss from 30% to 15% by himself. I'm honestly not entirely sure how this happened, but somehow it happened. We never saw that again in Raid: Awesome.
4) Sid was, if I remember correctly, the first player in raid to complete his Tier 2 set. Not a funny story, but a significant achievement for our little band of scrubs.
5) I remember on our second ever Nef downing Sid was the backup tank on Nef. Our MT that night died (was it Crossgrip?... I can't remember) and Jadrax and a number of other people were going absolutely nuts in vent. Sid deftly turned the internet dragon away from the raid, stance-danced a fear, and proceeded to tank the boss the rest of the way down. It's one of the quickest reactions I've ever seen in PvE.
6) On that note Sid is one of the best stance-dancers I've ever seen. I can't remember ever seeing the kid get feared once he got the hang of it on our first Magmadar kill.
With the possible exception of Primistic's return to guild after a lengthy absence, I don't think I've ever seen a stronger show of love in guild chat than when Sid made his comeback around halfway through BC. He's taken a few breaks and each time he's come back it's been instant smiles all around.
Cheers to one of the best tanks many of us have ever played with and one of the nicest guys most of us are lucky enough to know. Cheers to Sid and good luck with everything! I hope we see you back again soon some day.
