Windows 7 Problems

I installed Windows 7 from a copy I got from Closer. My computer is completely wiped clean of everything except AVG, Spybot, Malwarebytes, Mozilla, etc. I'm having problems getting any sound to come out. My speakers work as well.
When I hover over my sound icon in the lower right corner it says, "No Audio Output Device is installed." I've tryed to update my drivers for the sound, but I keep getting this message:
"High Definition Audio device has a driver problem"
And then it tells me the device driver software was not successfully installed.
Any ideas on how to fix this problem? Any of you guys running Windows 7? I'm not a computer wiz so any feedback would be awesome. Thanks!

What brand is the soundcard?
Knoppix (not verified) — Thu, 08/27/2009 - 23:23What brand is the soundcard? If you cannot get a Vista driver working, see if it is compatible with a generic AC97 audio driver. Most sound cards are so see if there is one for yours.
