I feel most of them make the raids go quite smoothly, and while I do see some point to a Failbot type mod I tend to think that most of them spam too much and are unnessisary.

so after getting offline after raid this evening (because of my hideous "crashing issue") I checked some things, grabbed a laser thermometer and checked my GPU and CPU both runing withen norms. however when I got onto my friends vent I started watching my ping closely and I was at 40 then in a matter of moments I was up to 4k and spiking up and down. I tried to download a file from microsoft's site and got a whopping 3kb/s!

so I'm sorry about the raid, working on a full virus scan now and will be calling my ISP in the morning if this keeps up!

my internet connection has returned to normal, not sure what happened last night.

virus and spyware scans turned up nothing

I repaired my wow and re-setup my interface

just got done checking the seating of everything in my PC

went to clean it as well only to find that there was little to clean (I had cleaned it when I reinstalled windows this last time) and of course as mentioned before my GPU wasn't even close to overheating.

so IDK guys I guess we'll chalk this one up to an unfortunate night with my cable company and see how it progresses. Thanks for all the helpful ideas to try and solve this.

Whats wrong with grid for you? PerfectRaid doesn't really interact with the addons we use as a guild unless you install http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info8324-PerfectRaidIncHeal.html .What happens if someone gets stuck in the pot on Ignis, gripped on Kologan, roots on Freya, the bomb on the hallway group on Thorium, marked on General, frozen in place or flash freezed on Hodir, light or gravity bombed on XT, or napalm shelled on Mirimon? How would you be able to react to this quickly? I see no option in PerfectRaid for this. All i see are the generic "highlight when diseased, magic debuffed, poisioned, curse", aggro check, Mortal Strike debuff, etc.

So the grilling begins!

I have all the perfect raid helpers, starting with incheal and the res one along with quickhealth. Perfectraid allows you to add and remove debuff and buff names from it, I allready have almost every debuff that needs my attention added in. (I think theres a couple in TOC that I dont have) but it actually shows the name of the debuff (or the abbrev I choose). Where Grid has this kind of functionality built in, PerfectRaid is a much more customizable raid addon. In my former guild everyone who had been using grid who tried perfectraid changed when they tried it out.

as long as this is displaying right (not an imagedump fan) you can see how Theda and Tsae are out of 40 yard range and how everyone in the raid needs pally buffs. I wish I had a shot from during a raid with someone brain linked.. but this is the general idea

oh and you forgot FusionPunch in Iron Council :-)

the best part is knowing who is brainlinked to whom in yogg and knowing who is standing in a hurricane (freya trash)

Grid is cool and all but I just can't stand the little squares it uses to show peoples health

I'll avoid the inevitable diatribe that will pour out here by saying:

We use Grid.
All of us.
Even the dps.
It shows everything and more you mention
We use Grid.
You can make Grid looks and stretch however you like.

A giant list covering half the screen is not efficient in the least. I'd advise you get familiar with it again.

It is nice to at least debate with an app about addons vs those that apply with 100% stock UI.

first off, may I just say it's good to see you want some uniformity in the guild, I got Grid again

secondly may I just correct that PerfectRaid can also be sized and changed to how it displays, and it doesnt take up half the screen on my UI in fact the reason I switched from (at the time) X-perl's Raid frames to grid and eventually perfectraid was to clean up my UI and make it more efficent,

I can't say I'll be happy with this change as Grid is well.... an ugly addon. but like I said I like to see that you guys are that focused you want uniformity to get through things and to be able to have everyone on the same page.

So for that reason I will gladly change my addon, but maybe one day you guys will try it out my way!

It's essentially a HuD. Small compact information. Strips extraneous infos such as names, words, timers, big bars, etc all into DoTs, in a grid, with borders and other little icons you can throw in there. At a glance, you can get the "state" of the raid.

oh yes, I'm well aware of the efficency of Grid, but those little boxes..... yuk! lol I like to see a bar, I'm not sure if its just being old school and remenicant of Perl Classic or even the default UI or what. but I have it and I'm using it now, who knows maybe you people will convert my way of thinking about it

This is a very knowledgeable pally I met when I first transfered to Gorg a few months ago. First encounter with him I think he laughed at me for trying to pay for an enchant and insisted on it being free. I was googley eyed over his gear so I asked him a few questions about tanking. After demonstrating his skills in theorycraft I would check in with him for advice on my stats every now and then, the burden that you guys now hold :). Haven't played with him yet but can speak for his good character and friendly attitude.
