I feel most of them make the raids go quite smoothly, and while I do see some point to a Failbot type mod I tend to think that most of them spam too much and are unnessisary.

[golf clap] way to read into it too much, this was not a bash at all, way to get all defensive over your prized posession because everything I obviously say about it is fanboi bashing and hatred right? Get real, stay open minded and be aware of how the game develops...that is all I am saying.

I never said I hated it, it just does not appeal to me so stop attacking my views to try and better your own. I have spent more than 100 hours looking at this game, reading every bit of details they let out, watching every bit of gameplay video that they let out...after saying that, it is just not for me, I like the RPG play through but it does not scream MMO or have that MMO feel I am after. You guys need to relax, just because I say something you do not agree with you do not have to get all rabid about it.

I will not go into why I said my hype comment, figure it out on your own from my past experiences...I played games that proved themselves to not be hype anymore too via the leveling and dungeons in beta, they could still not hack it at endgame. That is when alot of people drop like flies because there is nothing to do but dungeons and raids and dalies...that does not hack it, you need the small things, the basic things to keep people intrested.

I hope you prove me wrong with SWTOR, so like I sad before keep me posted as I do want to know more details than what I have found online, granted you have an NDA, so when you can post more I want to know more of the QoL features there are.

I don't believe I read too deeply into your comments, as you see Knoppix at every turn when were all talking, or excited about this. You are the one to instantly bring negativity to the conversation. I understand your past with other MMOs, as you should know mine (if not read my app) I've been through the "best" and the "worst"

We have on many different posts brought up reasoning and logic to where and why this game is so "hyped" and is getting such a huge fanbase.

But as a brief summary I list the following

As Wow did SWTOR (I'll abreviate as SW for this post) took the best from the other MMOs who've had sucesss and added onto it a twist and flare that comes with the history of KOTOR as its predisecor.

They took WoW (and many other mmos) combat style and made it so the attacks have feeling! they have weight! when I force leap into battle its a very BIG feeling. Acalade often talks about his main Trooper attacks (see above posting) Mortar Volley gives you an Incredible feeling

This next point is my main reason for loving the game thus far, I'm about half way to 50 (level cap) and the quests (even the side ones from your main story of your character) have great feeling! they draw you in and make you want to go out with your companion or group and help bring peace or war to the area.

The dungeons are well maped, with things like shortcuts if you have the right professions leveled appropiately, they have plenty of "trash" but not too much to make it feel like a grind

The customization thus far has been enormus! you can upgrade your companions skills, and gear. while forming relationships with them, From droids to slaves they all have their own stories and personalities.

The group questing functionality brings a group conversation into it, where all members get to choose what they would say, and whomever wins the roll (an actuall 1-199 roll that you see) controls the conversation and the group proceeds from there

I could go on and on, but the beta servers will be back up soon for the last few hours of the beta, (brought down for a scheduled maintence of 1 hour)

Knoppix, you've been a friend of mine in Downfall for quite sometime, we've gone through quite a lot together so I'll say this

I'm sorry I may have been a jerk in counter to what you said, but to be fair, no one rained on peoples parade about Rift or any other games people saught after greatly

SW has a huge ammount in it for discovery, hell I will probably roll a level 50 alt of each class just for the story lines!

I hope that I am right and this will be a better experience (as it has been very much so thus far) than WoW, because then you may come over to the game and give it a look, we could use a skilled player as yourself, but more importantly a damned good friend.

Well I rained on RIFT! (Hey it's ads were annoying okay, and still annoy me whenever I go to a wow website.) But you didn't see it until after you quit so I guess it did come off as condescending/ assholenish.

And WoW has gotten to that point for me. The little things are not there anymore. There is too much nostalgia for the days when I would get on WoW and then watch my weekend or day. Or in a few cases, weeks melt away into a mess of OCD/anti-rl mess. It may be because I've become more mature for that matter and cannot afford to waste weeks on a game. But the only thing that has been keeping me to WoW is you jerks. No matter how annoying/jerks you can be during raid. So I'm very pleased that Elapsed took the initiative to form the SWTOR guild even if we'll lose some certain people to being Sith. I'm glad we decided on Republic.

And I really thought for a second when you guys were describing it that I could turn it on like WoW and get lost in this game right now. I'm excited for that thought. And the next beta weekend when I will be able to play. Thanks for the updates. I might have some questions to annoy elapsed with later.

Meh RIFT, in the past...overhyped trash, your comments have done no harm.

RIFT had an AMAZING leveling and dungeon experience, the endgame was complete trash. Dungeon, raid, dalies....the small things, the quality of life things were not there and it in turn suffered.

You nailed how I feel about WoW exactally, I have tried and tried and tried to level my alts...I cannot for the life of me log on other than to raid, even when I am bored out of my fucking mind here at home...I still cannot log onto WoW. I came back thinking WoW would do it once again after all the burned up MMO's I tried, I was wrong...it is hard for me to even want to play just for my friends sake. Oh and then that new MoP XPAC, that should mop up any levtover feelings or wants I had left for WoW.

Thanks for the reply, you now see where I am coming from and seem to understand my views now, I thank you for that. I will appologize for some of the (in my opinion) slight negativity I put forth, I have been hyped and burned and trust no upcoming MMO not even my beloved TERA I am looking forward to, which I am personally going into not expecting much but will hope for the best so that I do not get burned. If you do not understand what I mean, I am going in with an open mind and not hyped and over excited, I think the game looks great but I am not going to get all rose colored glasses about it.

Only thing I can say about TERA is, it is out in Korea and Japan, it's skirt is lifted high in the air for all to see the package. There are millions of videos on YouTube about PvP, PvE, Crafting, Gathering, Emotions, w/e you want to know about the game.

Yes it had a rought start because the original designer / funder forced it to be released too soon and bad things happen when you rush, he relinquished his job due to so called health reasons. Now it has a new well experienced designer and funded by the richest gentleman in Korea, great things are actually happening NOW that you can also see on YouTube. The publisher (En Masse Entertainment) here in NA is holding the game back to make sure it will not bomb like Aion (hopefully), the producer (BlueHole Studios) is starting to cater to NA and not Korea which is rare for a game that was born in Korea, they usually cater to Korean views first.

If you choose to watch the videos on YouTube they are all from the Korean version, the NA version will differ in various ways to fit the western audience, the Korean version is absorbing alot of the ideas that NA fan sites and the TERA site has requested. Once again if some of you guys/gals here in Downfall want to play TERA and want more information let me know, I will be more than happy to start a thread.
