I want you to take a look at that. 400 dps less than me, and a ton more damage less than Lumi. Not bad numbers in and of themselves. In the same time it took you to fire 2 shots, I fired 4. You probably didn't time your rapidfire/readiness combo with Chimera/Aimed for extra burst, but that held you back a bit. Overall, not a bad showing.

As you'll notice, Grasen is back in his PvE gear (lol@pvp freya numbers :P). You're 400 dps behind Grasen, 600 behind Lumi and myself. Lumi and my pets did almost the same amount of damage, but you had about half that. That tells me you aren't practiced at utilizing your pet to its fullest extent in that fight. Thats fine, and that comes with experience. You were also about 200 personal dps (excluding your pet) behind Grasen. You even had 8 Kill Shots to inflate your numbers a bit, and were still behind all three of us, even though you technically out gear 2/3rds of us. There is room for improvement, are you willing to listen?

This is when you went offline. Not sure what happened to you. You managed to survive the "aw hell, I've got mark." moment. I looked at your positioning while I was dead, and noticed you didn't take advantage of any of the shadow crashes. This tells me you don't know about the benefits the Shadow Crash can give you, or that you were too afraid to mess up and get hit if you stood with the rest of the group. Looking closer at the numbers, you did manage to get in 3 shadow crashes. For comparison purposes, you were alive for 278.2 seconds longer than I was, and I still had more than 3 times the amount of Shadow Crashes you hopped in. If this were an ideal fight, you should have been closer to 18 Shadow Crashes. Less if DPS is high, but with the fight going so long, you should have been in more crashes.
After that... poof... offline. What happened?

This is a rare occasion, which i can count on 1 hand how many times that's happened in the last year. As per pots, i wasn't completely prepared. By the time i was asked to go, a summon was on my screen within moments, Normally i have mana/haste pots at all times. You're right with the readiness/chimera aimed shot, it wasn't well executed...at all. In the general fight, i guess it was maybe that i was used to doing it a bit different. I'm under the impression you have everyone stand in a group to take advantage of all shadow crashes vs half on each side and take the ones that come your way. I guess "now i know". Didn't have your raid addons either, so sometimes not knowing the next target is to your disadvantage haha, i'll grab it today, if i'm gonna get another shot.

First of all, with Focused Aim, you are almost 2% over hit cap. Take those points out and put them almost anywhere else. Your helm and your pants are the only items with big enough socket bonuses to be worthy of claiming. Toss a 10 hit 10 agility gem in your helm (putting you at 237 hit rating), and a 10 stats gem in your legs. EVERY OTHER GEM YOU USE SHOULD BE 20 AGILITY. Being slightly over the hit cap is better than being slightly under, simply because your pet gains hit from you, and if you aren't at the cap exactly, your pet will round down a full %
Second, you're only 2/3 Careful Aim. 3/3 is REQUIRED for any raiding hunter. Why only the 2/3?
Way too many points in Go for the Throat for your crit rating.
No points in Rapid Killing? You're missing out on a second round of Rapid Fire/Readiness in a 3.5+ minute fight.
You have enough ArP to exclude Arcane Shot from your rotation, yet you have 3 talent points in Imp Arcane Shot. Why?
If you don't exclude Arcane Shot from your rotation, how do you justify 3/3 in Improved Steady Shot, without first finishing Improved Barrage?
I also noticed you aren't running a Glyph of Serpent Sting. This glyph is mandatory for all Marksmanship hunters. Get it now.

I figured the difference between a hit gem and a talent point would be marginal at best, but if it's a matter of some antics, it can be changed. I have no issues with that. I agree with the +10 stats gem, that will be done.
Why glyph of serpent sting? In the roation, chimera shot is used often enough to keep it active at all times.Please advise.
Rapid Killing only gives you 10% additional dmg when the target killed gives you experience or honour...not exaclty raid friendly. Is it honeslty worth the 2 points? ( it'd be better than the 2 in careful aim, once i'm hit capped again surely, but is it really the best choice?
I've never considered taking arcane shot out of my rotation...but based on some careful review, i think you are on the money with that. I'm going to fill barrage and drop the arcane points and see how that works out.
Glyph-wise - the trueshot aura glyph i felt was better than the serpent sting mainly because chimera resets serp stings timer, and aimed shot is in the rotation, and the aura is always active.

Derchlon — Wed, 09/16/2009 - 21:43Shihli already told you why Careful Aim is so vital, and the difference between Careful Aim and Focused Aim, so I'll leave that one be for now.
In regards to talent points versus gems, focused aim per point is 32 hit rating. If you use a gem, you can choose to go lower than that, and maintain the most "bang for your buck" and stay as close to your hit cap as possible, without going under. Plus, freeing up that talent point can give you a point into something else that will net you more dps than you otherwise could with a gem.
Serpent Sting Glyph.... okay here we go. Most people who don't know the mechanics of Chimera-Serpent will underestimate this glyph. The reason you get this glyph is NOT for worry of Serpent Sting falling off, its because it gives it two more full ticks of Serpent Sting. When you Chimera Shot, your Chimera-Serpent does damage based off of the total damage your Serpent Sting does. This Glyph makes Serpent Sting's theoretical damage higher, and thus, your Chimera-Serpent Shots hit harder. That is why it is the absolute FIRST glyph you should pick up as a Marksman hunter.
On Rapid Killing, Shihli touched on that one too. It is the Cooldown that makes it good. 2 points in it reduces the CD to 3 minutes on Rapid Fire. That means, you can Rapid Fire/Readiness, wait 15 seconds (duration of Rapid Fire) Rapid Fire again (15 more seconds). 3 minutes later, you can do that all over again. If you have no points in Rapid Killing, 3 minutes after that second Rapid Fire, you can only Readiness, since Rapid Fire still has 2 minutes remaining. Those 2 points gain you an additional 15 seconds of Rapid Fire every 3.5 minutes or so.
Glyph of Trueshot Aura. This one is tricky. The reason why I asked you pros and cons, and to explain what they are is because you have to account for several factors if you're going to use this glyph. First thing, it is NOT ALWAYS ACTIVE. You think it is, simply because you click it and turn it on, but what you may not know, is that Abominable Might and Unleashed Rage BOTH overwrite Trueshot Aura, making your glyph useless. It has been proven in many tests on the Elitist Jerks forums that this is true. HOWEVER, if you put the following lines in your Aimed Shot macro you can keep Trueshot Aura Active when you hit your Aimed Shot.

/cancelaura Abominable Might
/cancelaura Unleashed Rage
/cast Aimed Shot
It cancels the other AP buffs while you are mashing your Aimed Shot Key, and you WILL get the full bonus of your glyph.
All this being said, I put your current gear through the Spreadsheet, and you're doing 7637.72 dps. Thats respectable. However, fixing all of the suggestions I mentioned to you earlier, and some talent adjustments, I managed to bring your theoretical dps up to 8052.68 dps.
I played with it a little further, and using the same gear you have, new talent specs, and some shot priority shuffling, I was able to push you up to 8237.49 dps. Just as you are, you are missing 600 dps of what you are capable.
