Which WoW boss gave you an epic feeling after their defeat
Shinzwei — Thu, 10/08/2009 - 07:28
My personal hell was Kael'Thas. We spent like what 2 months on him. He was considered by many a "Guild Killer" due to the fact that yes he wasnt just a boss you can go in and faceroll on the kb and collect loot. Its too bad we didnt stay any longer than we needed because we had just completed the Hyjal attunement. We hauled ass after we killed him and went straight into Hyjal that night lol. I think that same night we all got attuned for BT as well?

Huhuran - Was just satisfying
Cisper — Wed, 10/21/2009 - 06:18Huhuran - Was just satisfying to dominate the fight after all the Nature Resist efforts
Twin Emperor's - Was the first substantial content for Downfall to clear, port DF on the map as a PvE Guild as Garreth stated.
Zul'jin - Not so much an accomplishment as much as it felt good to clear Zul'aman in Raid Bewbies on our first night in there, having not done so since Karazhan with like, Tankard, Sorahn, Katibug, Garreth, Velm, Infantryman, Keisjaa, My Hunter, Shinzwei etc!
Vashj & Kael'thas - Equally long and steep learning curves, all the more rewarding though.
Illidan & Archimonde - Not so much learning curves as persistence, but they just oozed end-game and the feeling of Burning Crusade.
Yogg25 No Keepers - Unbelievably satisfying kill!
PS Hi.
Baron Rivendare
Elapsed — Fri, 10/09/2009 - 01:09simply put my first time though a 45 min run of Strat, when I was still a complete and utter nub. I very vividly remember my friend Tantrum on TeamSpeak telling me who to heal and with what (he was on his alt). That was my first real party experience (besides a gnomer run through) and the whole feeling of working together to clear that instance blew me away. Also the fact we were doing a timed event made it all the more important.
Next to that Jindo from ZG was one of my first real raid encounters. Sure I'd been to Ony and carried mostly tbph. But it was my first real time to shine fighting that prick, I was very fortunate enough to get Jindo's Hexer. Made every holy pally and a couple priests in my guild SUPER jealous. That would have been my first time through ZG however a world Dragon spawned and we went out and with the help of another guild (our sister Guild) we took him out in the Hinterlands. That day was a mind blowing experience for me and made me completely hooked on the party/raiding lifestyle.
As for in Wrath I would say my first 25 Yogg-Saron downing was beyond Epic and reminded me so much of AQ it brought me right back to the good old days. While Malygos was easily the most unique raid boss I have been to, Simply do to the flight dynamic.
I've rambled on enough lol but those are my best memories
Wish I could say it was with
Ewiges — Sun, 10/11/2009 - 21:20Wish I could say it was with downfall, but I don't think the game is as epic as it was in Vanilla. Found you guys a bit too late.
I would have to say my first Nefarion kill with TKO. I didn't really need any items so I blew all my DKP in order to be the first Native player on Gorg to get the head of nefarian.
Mine by fare was HOGGER That
HBK — Fri, 10/09/2009 - 00:15Mine by fare was HOGGER That Son Of A Bitch Was So Harder...The Day I killed him I new right than and there a have nothing else too prove in WOW he was the best ingame EVER....
Second would have to be Illidan... D.F letting me be a Ret pally in H.J and B.T was amazing especially being there for the Epic Oranges woot go go Downfall :)
1st Rag kill was of course
Onrique — Thu, 10/08/2009 - 23:291st Rag kill was of course very special. I can remember having to farm the FR gear, pass out the FR pots, and try getting 40 people to not be afk at the same time.
1st Nef kill probably would have been more special, except i was basically carried through by <Internet Tough Guys> (formerly RAGE, which was formerly Luck... for those of you who still remember). Still, when I killed him, I got the sense that something special had happened, like the result of dozens of wipes that i wasn't even a part of.
Honestly, AQ40 was it for me. I fucking loved that place. Huhu was epic in the sense that 90% of that fight was well controlled, but the last part was so fucking chaotic. Twin emps was of course an amazing encounter, and half the battle was actually clearing to them.
For the burning crusade, the first Prince kill in kara was special. Shit, shade of aran was quite the accomplishment when kara was still fresh. Unfortunately my raiding pretty much quit in BC after Mag's lair when Rainbow Berets disbanded and i tranferred off the server to play with my boss. By the time i re-rolled alliance and got into a downfall 25 man raid, Illidan was a joke, and i wasn't able to really grasp the epic-ness of the encounter.
As far as wrath goes, the best kill moment i can think of was when LC killed algalon for the first time... when he was still hard. Unfortunately my expectations for Icecrown Citadel are very high, as TOC seemed very lazily put together. It will feel great to kill anub on heroic, but the fight isn't, well... epic.
I will say that the old-school encounters are probably more "epic" because of the fact that there was no "class homogonization" and the game wasn't as finely tuned. For huhu, you couldn't walk in with BWL and AQ40 gear and expect to win. Your guild had to put farming runs together, and everyone had to pitch in for pots, gear and consumables to make a handful of pulls a week. Yeah, the game was more work back then, but when you FINALLY got that kill, it was a genuine guild effort that everyone took pride in. Boss kills took multiple raid lockouts to get genuine progression with, not 2 nights of pulls.
Illidan
Enixa — Thu, 10/08/2009 - 12:061st Illidan Hamfist kill by far was the best.
Turth topped damage, That never happened on another boss fight 1st kill ever again as Turth AND I was elemental. Felt good to flex my epeen like there was no tomorrow. I also went through at least 350g worth of mats that night. That actually didn't happen again til deep brutallus. (Enhancement was cheap)
I remember that time that the
Disrupter — Thu, 10/08/2009 - 14:01I remember that time that the moonkin in t5 beat all of the pure caster ranged dps, did a million damage, on Illidan. Ah yes, those are the good times. Hybrids represent!
Hahaha, my epeen flex is
Agoney — Thu, 10/08/2009 - 13:57Hahaha, my epeen flex is azgalor!! Couple of times I was #1 in both damage and healing!! Back when VE was OP and I'd have Warlocks plus pets plus hunter plus pets!
First Rag kill of Raid:
garreth — Thu, 10/08/2009 - 11:41edit: 7. PRIM'S EPIC 1.0 45-MINUTE STRAT RUNS. Absolutely fucking awesome. Everyone that got to experience these will tell you it's a highlight of original Downfall WoW.
yeah.. comes to think about
primistic — Thu, 10/08/2009 - 20:35yeah.. comes to think about that, it was really epic for me.. A fight against time.. non-stop pulling.. I remember me, you G, and Kognus.. who else were there?
prim...take me to
Kwondre — Thu, 10/08/2009 - 11:52prim...take me to strat...nOW!

Agoney — Thu, 10/08/2009 - 11:24There's a couple for me.
My original guild on warsong was one of the first to go through and attempt to clear MC, making our own strats and testing them. There were no WoR, bosskillers, wowwiki to give strats at that time... maybe a quick writeup on thottbot but thats it. That was probably my favorite era of wow. Anyway, we steamrolled lucifron rather quickly.. a lot of guilds were stuck on him for odd reasons, but our original raid was reallly good with decursing without mods. However, we were stuck on magmadar for what seemed like an eternity.. Aggro pulls, standing in fire etc, you name it we sucked at it on this fight.. I still remember downing this guy on a wednesday night/thurs morning at 1245am.. it was such an awesome feeling. We raided from 630-11 during the week but we wanted to keep going and we finally got him.
Another MC kill, some of you may or may not have seen the video of our strategy of killing Majordomo. Every guild had an order in which they killed the elites/healers.. but ours was so fking out there.. I don't remember how it went, it was so overly complicated but it worked.. I had a fraps of it but somehow it's been deleted awhile back. At the time it seemed normal, but looking back it was rather funny.
After I transferred here to gorg, I was lucky enough to be able to play my friends mage (with the old guild) through some of the encounters in original naxx. Kills were pretty fun but I think I only played on one progress kill so wasn't a hugedeal.
BWL wasn't too much of a deal. Some of the old DFers will tell you we had a couple of bad strategy givers, but once they left we were able to down Chromag and nef rather easily.. we'd only really ran into problems on nef if we lacked AoE. Then we figured out the stairway method and it really became LOL fallover dead easy.
With the exception of the first boss in AQ40, we progressed a lot faster then we all expected. Sartura was a bitch but there wasn't a real high of downing it.. HUHU was a great feeling, more coming together as a guild then difficulty wise. The fight itself we chumped.. first weekend of attempts if that.. but it was finally where everyone got serious and worked on their NR gear and came together. Twins was fun for the pure fact we used a complete different tanking strategy.. we really turned it into a chump fight. This was probably the most fun I ever had raiding.
Wow got really side tracked into old times. Anyway, overall, I'd say it comes b/w Vashj, original pre-pre-pre nerf hydross, or Huhu. I havent done much in wraith, i really dislike the idea of the heroic/achievement system for raiding, and hope to god its gone in the next expac. Gimping yourself or the raid to make an encounter harder is just so stupid to me.. have everything one mode.. and make the hard bosses hard and the gimpy bosses gimp. But thats just MO and its another topic!!!
It's not a boss, but I always
Atar — Thu, 10/08/2009 - 10:34It's not a boss, but I always felt the Zul'Aman mount runs were pretty epic.

Shinzwei — Thu, 10/08/2009 - 10:54Only a handful of people have experienced one of Prim's epic 45 minute Strat DK runs. I unfortunately was not those who were lucky enough to see it done ;(
Hell yea they were...tanking
Aidin — Thu, 10/08/2009 - 10:53Hell yea they were...tanking those when Grov needed a filler was always pretty intense for me. Those were where I learned the true pressure a tank feels!
I am hoping Arthas will be
Knoppix (not verified) — Thu, 10/08/2009 - 09:57I am hoping Arthas will be really fucking epic as he was the end of WC3FT and most of the story I know about the WoW universe.
I would have to say Nef, Twin
Knoppix (not verified) — Thu, 10/08/2009 - 09:55I would have to say Nef, Twin Emps and C'Thun (maybe Rag he was sorta epic I guess, yes I am an old school wower) due to those being some of the first raid bosses I ever killed, being the main tank for it just made it more epic for me personally and much more memorable.
Think we spent a month downing some of these bosses, which also made it feel more epic. I am hoping Anub will feel the same when we down him. I am just not sure 40 man days felt more epic, were more of a pain in the ass, but none the less I am really enjoying WOTLK, the heroic 25 man is definatly a challenge.
Illidan....didn't take as
Desteran — Thu, 10/08/2009 - 09:54Illidan....didn't take as long to learn as some fights but the fight itself was epic.
the first downfall Instructer
Grasen — Thu, 10/08/2009 - 09:41the first downfall Instructer kill back in 40 man naxx, that was the first time i got that feeling and still stands out in my mind.
I actually have 2 that will
Aidin — Thu, 10/08/2009 - 09:36I actually have 2 that will stand out in my mind forever. First...Raid:Hamfist Vash'j. That octopussy was a crazy fight if you were a healer...I still remember the high from our first downing. That fight tested your skills as a paladin...so much to do there other then spam FoL and HL on a tank.
Second...I had already downed Archimonde with Hamfist, and stopped raiding. When I returned, I joined Raid:LF1M and went through the learning process with them, for round 2 for me. I'll never forget the excitement that flowed through that raid when they/we finally got him down, it felt like a first all over again. ATAR OMG GO BEAR!!
Umm...Ragnaros?? He was the
Kwondre — Thu, 10/08/2009 - 09:05Umm...Ragnaros??
He was the "First" Last Boss for raid instances....
I remember after killing him, shouting into vent "OMG WE JUST WON THE SUPERBOWL!"!!!!!!
I'd have to go with
Atar — Thu, 10/08/2009 - 08:20I'd have to go with Archimonde. LF1M was on him for a good month and a half. It felt so good to finally kill him. Really made all those wipe nights worth it.
Gonna have to say Archimonde
Dragon — Thu, 10/08/2009 - 12:24Gonna have to say Archimonde myself. This was my first real challenge with Downfall and LF1m and I seriously think it took me 3 hours to finally get off the adrelenine high after we killed him that night.
Archimonde was a really good
Derchlon — Thu, 10/08/2009 - 08:42Archimonde was a really good one. I got shakey with all the adrenaline after the kill.
I'd say all of the end game
Disrupter — Thu, 10/08/2009 - 08:16I'd say all of the end game bosses ended up giving me this epic feeling. The most notable was Vashj, though. This was the first end game boss I ever killed, and this was the first time I felt on Disrupter I was actually benefiting the raid more than I would on my "alt" druid. I even got the killing blow with a Fire Blast crit, was awesome :O.
