Zildo's 3.2 Gear Progression

My gear progress as of the release of 3.2. Note: only 25 and 25 H gear listed for ToC and Ony. Items go in order of worst to best with my BiS on the bottom. Items that have an X have been obtained as well as any 'lesser' gear.

I am a little unsure how to prioritize the helms. It is pretty much more haste vs. 4 pc (5% crit on CH). I think unless I get the 258 helm I am going to prioritize the emblem haste helm ahead of t9.

Desteran — Thu, 10/22/2009 - 11:13I am really starting to notice a difference since gemming totally for haste (now at 811). If youre resto and youre not gemming haste (well in t8/t9) regem now. Fuck socket bonuses. I am hoping to break 1k in a couple of weeks.
There looks to be nothing in the 3.3 patch notes that leads me to believe this is going to change...much.. I am under the impression that since 3.2.0 mp5 is the least attractive stat on our gear w/ CH proccing water shield.

Also after doing a little research it looks like the elemental tier helm is much better itemized for me and the 258 is looking like the BiS for Resto. So basically instead of going for the 4pc, which is fairly week considering the stats I am trying to stack and what I have to sacrafice I will be snagging the ele helm when I get enough badges.

Prime8 — Sun, 10/18/2009 - 14:08We talked about the ele helm in the resto shaman BiS list I posted I think. If the rest of your gear is identical, and you're only deciding between the helms, my advice would be to get both. 4pt9 bonus will be better for longer fights where the regen from crit chain heals will help. The ele helm has more haste, so thats more heals (using more mana), with the possibility of increased throughput (although I'm not convinced - 5% crit on one of our most used abilities will outweigh a little bit of haste). The ele helm would be better in 10 mans or other situations where you aren't getting to use chain heal.
I haven't been raiding and don't have access to the gear at this time, so there's not really any way I can test. But, if you're already at 3pt9, the difference between using 1 peice with more haste and getting the set bonus, I think the set bonus wins.

Desteran — Mon, 10/19/2009 - 14:10I havnt had many mana problems since 3.2. I am thinking the leather legs and ele helm (which will give you crit on all abilities as opposed to just CH) will win out. With the few haste/mp5 pieces and those trinkets that should be enough passive mana regen for most fights.
