Has guild tag?
KeithC19 — Wed, 12/02/2009 - 15:18App is up?
He's got Garreth's approval.
Shihli — Sat, 11/14/2009 - 21:48He's got Garreth's approval. He'll be looking at an invite as soon as he's on.
while i'm skeptical about all
Grasen — Fri, 11/13/2009 - 09:26while i'm skeptical about all the alts, i am overall impressed with this app.
Haste is very very happy
bluemanfu — Fri, 11/13/2009 - 04:19Thank you Desteran for the advice and link. I switched out a few of my gems getting about 6% more haste earlier today, useing my best judgement on the gems to use. (I should have gone to the link first) It made a huge difference in my raid healing this evening.
Now that i have had a chance to give your link the time that it deservers. I am going to go ahead and use there gemming template and over haul my gear. I am a little torn on wether glyph of lesser healing wave or glyph of riptide would be better for my role. If you have anythoughts i would love to hear them.
Thank you again.
I am a big fan of the LHW
Desteran — Fri, 11/13/2009 - 10:38I am a big fan of the LHW glyph. I would go w/ that. The hot on riptide seems to be mostly overheal for me.
The LHW glyph is great for tank healing or even simply tossing a quick heal on the tank. Tidal Waves + the glyph synergize very well.
sticking with LHW
bluemanfu — Fri, 11/13/2009 - 23:01I am going to go ahead and stick with the LHW then. Thanks for the reply.
I switched out my gems stacking haste, per the template at the elitest jerks link. I am having some mixed feelings about it though. I love the new feel to chain heal. It feels lighter for lack of better disciption, however there is a noticable difference in the size of heals I throw. As of yet i have not had the chance to comepare it in a raid setting, i will try to pug something tomorrow to get a better idea of the pros and cons. At the moment my out look on it is I may have to scale back the haste a little for now to maintain a little more balance. This way I would add more haste as I attain more gear, and hopefully avoid giving myself a deficit in spell power. I was really happy with the preformance of my toon when I picked up the 6% increase. I will definitly test it out to make sure.
I am not ususally active on
Olorien — Thu, 11/12/2009 - 17:44I am not ususally active on the apps, but I wanted to say something on this one. With the string of awful apps we have had lately it is nice to see someone app who is intelligent in their answers and competent in their gear and spec.
DF says over and over that this is a community first and a raiding guild second. It is refreshing to have an app that actually would fit into the community.
Good Luck!
Thanks
bluemanfu — Thu, 11/12/2009 - 19:08Thanks for your prespective and the luck =)
Adding you to my friends
garreth — Thu, 11/12/2009 - 15:19Adding you to my friends list. The single most important thing for an invite is to ACTUALLY be online when we are, on your main toon. From 6pm to 10pm most nights we pull in an app or two. It's hilarious the number of people that app and then are never online. Saintsteven and Ace are good examples of this: They were online and ready to rock every night we raided. They ended up filling crucial raid spots and are now regs.
I will be on.
bluemanfu — Thu, 11/12/2009 - 15:54I will make sure to be on and avaiable. Thanks for the add and the heads up.

Shinzwei — Thu, 11/12/2009 - 15:50Pre BC I remember bugging the hell out of Gares and co. to see if a spot was available for MC. It was not until like 2 months later that I finally got a shot at it. Everynight I would listen in on their vent channel. Being able to listen in gave me an idea on how it was to raid MC and it also helped me with learning the encounters due to strats being repeated at every boss attempt. Remember a raid invite is a privelige and not a right.
PS: I raided MC with a caster dagger. True story.
Agreed
bluemanfu — Thu, 11/12/2009 - 17:00Listening in on vent can be very benificial. Everybody seems to do things just a little different. It is nice to have a heads up on the strat that will be used.
When I was joining a guild with my lock, I was on the standby roster for about 3 weeks listening in on vent. During the fourth week 4 people out of the 6 that were above me on the standby list didn't log in on thier toons or get in vent and they had 3 spots open up so i got in. I already new how they wanted to do things from listening in, and things went really smoothly. They moved me up in the standby list and after a few more weeks went by they offered me a perminent raid spot. I guess the morale of the story is: if your not there you can't recieve opertunities.
Look forward to the privilage =) Thank you for your input.
I like! Why should we
Kwondre — Thu, 11/12/2009 - 14:43I like!
Why should we recruit you?:
I am capable, willing to learn, and able to work with a group. Downfall is a large guild. I make no delusions when it comes to the fact that I need you more then you need me at this point. However if you have an opening and you think that i would make a good addition to your guild. i would be more then happy to fill it.
=)
bluemanfu — Thu, 11/12/2009 - 15:11Good =)

bluemanfu — Thu, 11/12/2009 - 15:16Ornery are we? My bad. Thanks for the positive review anyway though.
There are typically two ways
Desteran — Thu, 11/12/2009 - 11:45There are typically two ways to gem for resto: heavy int and heavy haste. Heavy int is usally only done if your doing a significant amount of tank healing (i.e. your raid lacks holy pallies). Haste is done if you are using a significant amount of chain heal (which it sounds like you are). There is no haste cap. Alot stop at 1100 haste as your GCD is just about as low as it can go.
You shouldnt be having any mana problems since 3.2 and unless youre recklessly overhealing or letting water shield fall off.
Your enchants are good.
You should have Ancestral Awakening in your spec. It is a good talent. Drop elemental weapons. A +45 spell power buff that doenst scale isnt worth the 3 points.
I would recommend getting rid of glyph of water mastery as well. Earth shield glyph is a good option since it should always be up on a tank. I'd also recommend using the minor water shield glyph as you'll be wasting less GCD's to keep it up.
Also, try Clique instead of Click 2 Cast. Its really easy to use and gets updated more often.
On it
bluemanfu — Thu, 11/12/2009 - 15:08Ok I am looking into which gems to switch to start stacking haste.
I could aford to lose some mp5. I have been hesitant to do so because of the groups that i have been in. They have consisted of people that dont get out of fires or avoide lava walls. While one or two would not be so bad on draining your mana. 4 plus people everytime is very rough. My average overhealing is between 23% and 28% not the greatest, but under 30%.
Switching glyphs, spec, and downloading clique now. Thank you for the input.
It's not your fault if they
Desteran — Thu, 11/12/2009 - 17:27It's not your fault if they die then :-D Either way raid buffed you should be able to spam cast for 6-7 minutes w/o stopping(maybe a little shorter w/ your gear). Use your manatide early and maybe get a second one in on a fight long than 6-7 minutes and never let water shield fall off.

Solid advice
bluemanfu — Thu, 11/12/2009 - 19:19That is very solid advice. I normally try to drop manatide when i get to about 50%. Do you think i should drop it sooner ?
i am not 100% sure how long i have been sustaining healing but on razor we were wiping do to enrage. i will look up the enrage timer to get a more accurate look at the length of the fights. i do need to work on maintaining my water shield i will make sure to dedicate more attention to make sure it is constantly maintained.
I am about to help some friends in a naxx 10 right now, but I will be looking at your link, as soon as I am done. Thank you for the info.
In heavy healing fights it
Desteran — Fri, 11/13/2009 - 12:21In heavy healing fights it can be hard to find the GCD to put it down but if you know youre going to have mana problems I would drop it around 70-75%.
Another mod I would recommend to you is Power Auras. There is a bit of a learning curve but once you get it setup it is very useful. I use it to track my riptide cooldown. Tidal Waves and tidal force uptime as well as my water shield (I get a big blue symbol in the middle of my screen when it falls off).
downloading
bluemanfu — Fri, 11/13/2009 - 23:17Downloading it now. It sounds very useful. If I have any problems do you mind if I ask you about it?
I will start droping manatide earlier. I suppose even if i don't need it a second time the raising the chances of it being available in the event that i do is definately a plus.
i like your app and i have
Grasen — Thu, 11/12/2009 - 03:18i like your app and i have always been a supporter of friends staying together, however we expect the best in Downfall and it;s been my experiance that people with a crapton of alts do not excell at their mains (sorry to those downies who fit in this catagory, just calling it like i see it)
how much time a week do you spend on your main vs your alts if i may ask. ui is a bit to stock for my likeing also. (yes garreth, i know, stfu)
edit: after rereading app i see you only have 18 days plays on your shammy and only 4 days at 80, forgive me but it;s hard to have much faith in your ability to heal as a shammy so far. we'll see what yah got in action sometime.
Most of the 80's that I have
bluemanfu — Thu, 11/12/2009 - 14:38Most of the 80's that I have were used to fill voids in guilds i was in. I originally was a healer on my priest and leveled a tank in order to help my friends in my spare time. When that guild broke there was an opening for a lock in another raiding guild. So i leveled my lock (definatly one of my favorate classes). Then that guild Split leaving us short a tank so i was ask to use my warrior again. then the leaders of that guild asked me to join thier main guild on my priest as shadow. There was unfortunatly alot of arguing and back stabbing in that guild, and I did not like it, so I decided to take some time and play with some friends that had gone to another server. where I made a dk so i could quickly get to 80 and start participating in guild functions. This guild had a fatally flawed looting system and inevitably destroyed its self. My friends elected to come back to this server. We were short a tank. They asked me to try tanking on my dk. since with the shift in tokens made him more geared then my warrior. The Gm and some other key raiders in srk quit playing for personal reasons. The remainder of the guild was left unmotivated. I tried numerous times to get them motivated again, but to no availe. I had always liked my shammy and my hunter. so I took this down time to lvl them, hopeing that things would spring back. the reason i went resto on my shaman was plain and simple i missed healing thats what my first choice in this game was. while i may be relitively new to the class, I am not new to healing. I just have a new set of tools =).
I do have alot of toons with more time on them, and i know how to use ever single one of them. Reguardless of how long u have played any toon there is always room for improvement. Being willing and able to learn and adapt will always be far more important then time played. There is nothing in this game that i can not learn or over come.
Currently i get on bluemanfu when ever he is needed. I am not really one to sit in Dalaran and i have other toons that are better suited for farming. Yesterday, I spent most of the day on him because he had something to do.
Feel free to set up a group anytime, and I will try to renew your faith.
While your intentions sound
Shihli — Thu, 11/12/2009 - 14:43While your intentions sound noble, if you want to get anywhere (both in the game in general, and in Downfall should you be accepted) you need to pick one toon and stick with it. It doesn't do the guild much good to have 8 new toons in guild that all have sub-par gear and sub-par skill/class knowledge.
It benefits you and the guild FAR more for you to excel at one toon, get its gear up to snuff.
I agree...but on the flip
Kwondre — Thu, 11/12/2009 - 14:45I agree...but on the flip side...there are definitely voids in both 25 man raids to a certain extent...he's got the flexibility to fill a need with his toons, provided he puts in the effort to gear/learn that toon to the fullest once he learns which toon it is that we really need.
I put a lot of care into my alt...but that's a LOT of alts...lol
Yes, there are voids. Voids
Shihli — Thu, 11/12/2009 - 14:51Yes, there are voids. Voids that need to be filled with properly-geared, well-gemmed and well-enchanted, and well-played toons.
If we needed a healer, Kwon - do you think your pally could fill the role? Do you have full working knowledge of endgame healing on a holy pally with T9 and equivalent gear to match?
That's what I mean.
TOUCHE JERKFACE@! TOUCHE I
Kwondre — Thu, 11/12/2009 - 15:01TOUCHE JERKFACE@! TOUCHE
I agree with your underlying thought process. But what I'm saying is that he seems to have the right attitude, which to some could be more valuable than someone who is the "BEST OF THE BEST"...
And I'm not saying that he get a Ginvite on whatever toon it is we need, regardless of whether he knows that toon or not. What I'm saying is that maybe we should denote that we are only interested in one of his specific toons...give him say a week or two to gear it up a bit more then try him out some in raids as his "official" tryout to see if he "knows" his stuff.
To use your example...if we needed a healer, I think it would take me about 2 weeks to get the gear to endgame heal (GKPs FTW). As per the knowledge and experience, no i wouldn't have that within two weeks for sure - but that doesn't necessarily mean that this dude (what's his name bluemanchu?) doesn't have the knowledge based on his experience. It seems like his reason for alt-hoping wasn't really "boredom" more than it was trying to patch some big holes in his guild...
i don't know. I know we're looking for talented players and a mastery of a class, but it almost seems like that kind of attitude and committment should get at least rewarded with a look-see on a trial basis no?
