At least it's better than the trash that is Victor's Call.    Gear is better, I'd say still a bit behind the curve on a few slots.

Regardless of how you feel...  Mutilate is the best single target dps for rogues, that's a fact.    Yes, if and when the patch notes go through, Mutilate would be ahead on all fights again.   But you were mutilate before that was announced I assume.  

Raid utility is meh, with Rets and Elems bringing the same thing that's mandatory in their specs.   Mutilates can squeeze out more dps if you take only 1 or 2 Master Poisoner and shove the rest into Turn the Tables.

I assume that's the Mutilate rogue you're talking about.   Notice his dual spec.    This tells me that likely in their progression raids, he's combat.   At the very least, in the progression fights where it shines with CDs and adds (HM Anub!!!).    Their "mutilate rogue", and likely all their rogues, aren't stuck to a spec, but seemingly adapt their spec to what the fight requires.

And currently, in ToC, even back in most of Ulduar, Combat outshines Mutilate.    Sure it may likely change in Icecrown with the new buffs, but that is then this is now.

Bottom line, do you have to spec combat?  Nope.    Having combat as an option when needed though, that'd be more ideal.
