Shihli — Thu, 12/03/2009 - 01:22A few questions and observations from an experienced raid leader, raider, and Death Knight.
1) Where are your Blood spec glyphs?
2) I hope you're still leveling your JC.
3) Curious gear decisions: No helm with a metagem socket (a blue with a meta socket would be better than your epic); socketing just +crit in your chest instead of +str/crit (Strength is your single best stat, period, bar none); extremely low on expertise as well.
4) Your gear is extremely weak this far into the game. You say you've been away for months, that's fine. Start working on iLevel 226/245 gear from Ulduar and Coliseum, as well as working on getting emblems for purchaseable T8 and T9 and similar-level gear. You need more expertise and likely don't need as much hit rating, even being dual wield.
5) You say you have a lot of experience leading raids, but applying on a low-geared death knight doesn't play to that. Are you from another server? What's your other toons' names? I'd like to see the experience for myself :)
That's a good start.

Zaridan — Thu, 12/03/2009 - 11:07I appreciate the feedback. I honestly didnt get much time in before I had to leave the game again due to RL curcumstances so my Death Knights gear really never got that good (for questions 3 and 4). As for question 2, I only just got dual speccing and just haven't spent the time to glyph it yet as I will not be taking my blood spec very seriously until I have the gears to support it. Referring to the gem choice....yea....not sure what I was thinking on that one. I do plan to start working on my JC again shortly. With question 5 in mind, my old main used to be my Shadow Priest, Chaillu. I also have a 70 Paladin on an innactive account named Syrnai and a 71 warrior named Manezar. In reference to the raid leading, I must admit most of my experience with that comes from EQOA and FFXI. I am currently working on gathering emblems and such in order to improve my gear, so hopefully I will be able to present a better face soon enough.
Repondez Si Vous Plait
Derchlon — Thu, 12/03/2009 - 00:50You seem a decent fellow, but I see a few red flags. I see a lot of references to loot in your app. This tells me loot is one of your biggest goals in applying to us. Yes, gear would probably come your way if you raid with us, leading me to my next point. You say in your app, and I quote:
"Downfall's status on the server provides evidence for me that it will
be a lasting thing and that it values player skill over anything else,
which is exactly what I'm searching for."
We don't value player skill over anything else. We value community over everything else. We expect people to know their classes well; to perform optimally in any Downfall raid, but it is not our defining characteristic. I see that you may appreciate community. You speak about the troubles of making bonds with people who end up leaving the guild, but I only see that mentioned once. You mentioned loot at least four times.
In regard to things which might cause you to leave, you said "Unfair loot conditions, which I do not believe will happen." Who gets to decide what is unfair? Does the idea that you would not have a shot at Shadowmourne bother you? Honestly, you won't receive one unless there is an act of God.

Zaridan — Thu, 12/03/2009 - 11:37Once again, I appreciate your feedback. While I do admit gear is rather important to me in WoW I also recognise many other important attributes involved in the advancement of the game. When I refer to "unfair loot conditions" I don't just apply this to myself. I strive for what I personally define as fair loot conditions, which I will get back to, for all raiders and guild members. I would be just as bothered by a different person being shorthanded in regards to loot.
Regarding the quote, I view player skill as more than class skill. By my personal definition, player skill encompases the ability to play the game with others in a beneficial way for all players involved and the ability to play one's chosen class/classes in a way that benefits the guild and raid.
I do understand the fact that the word "fair" is more of a convenient fantasy than something that is actually obtainable. As far as things go I consider loot conditions fair as long as they simply follow the rules set down in order to mediate distribution. I have had negative experiences with guild leadership bending their rules to benefit themselves on multiple occasions, thus the "fairness" of loot distribution has become a somewhat important factor for me in terms of guild selection.
I honestly do not expect to get super items that are exceptionally difficult to obtain, such as a legendary of some sort. If I do manage to obtain something of that type, though, I would only want it through earning it, not through riding on an excellent guilds back.
P.S.

Fair Loot?
Dragon — Thu, 12/03/2009 - 14:33Although 'Fair' might be a relative term, we have our own version of fair loot already written out in this guild. What's more, people causing loot drama in this guild are almost always auto gkicked on the spot without further thought. So please be sure to read the following links before you continue with your app. Because we are a community first and a raiding guild second.

In regards to Shadowmourne,
saedo — Thu, 12/03/2009 - 00:57In regards to Shadowmourne, that's a bit overexaggerating. This isn't a rare 2% drop Legendary. It's crafted by any fucker that wants it, and has a raid that's willing to kill bosses with him. Having a guild back you up would make things faster, but on your own, you only need to save up at most 575 Emblems of Frost, or buy 25 Primordial Saronite, or some where inbetween those 2 extremes.
