This message is also benefitial to hunters who feel they are getting close to chasing armor penetration gems.
I ran your gear through some number crunching, and you might find it worth your while to gem full Armor Penetration and go Marksmanship. While you currently get more benefit from agility than from ArP, you have the gem space to successfullly make the cross over into armor penetration superiority.
With gems, you can hit 914 Armor Penetration. Get yourself a nice ArP stat stick(s).
I recommend http://www.wowhead.com/?item=51022 Off of Blood Prince 10 man.
If you can't get that, gun for dual wielding (26 agility on each):

I can't tell if I should be getting the vibe that you're trying to help me or trying to call me out. Either way your efforts would likely be better spent on the new Hunter that is some three thousand DPS beneath me, is playing a spec that he can't support, and has no understanding of how to spec his pet. Or, likely, to perform his rotation.
I'm all for doing what I can for the raid. But I'm having flashbacks of FFXI and enduring years of: Bring [what we want you to play] not [what I want to play] to the raid tonight. I've adjusted my Surv spec like 4 times since I've joined Downfall and I'm rather proud of what I've turned it into. And I won't have our raid faltering some this week pinned on me when its so obviously people linking frost bombs, blowing extra spores up on the melee, charging the red ooze before it picks a target, and not running out of malleable goo thats wiping us and not one Hunter needing to do another 500k damage alone to kill Sindragosa. I'm human and I screw up too. But I at least try to learn from it and apply some more spacial awareness on the next pull as a result.
I'm sure this is going to come across as a great deal more abrassive than it was probably meant to. After getting the "I'm bangin' the woman you love in London. See you this weekend!" call from my buddy I'm probably just angry and will regret making this post in an hour. Angry at traitorous douchebags in real life. Angry at Blizzard for forcing me to play a spec I hate. And angry at the whole Armor Pen stat in general. I can't wait to see it gone forever.
You're a cool guy, Derch. I enjoy talking to you and Grasen in Vent and all that jazz. I'm just really curious as to why you'd feel the need to suddenly single me out and put my gear and spec under the microscope. I was under the distrinct impression that I was pulling my weight.
Blargh. I'll run some numbers when I get home tonight. I don't see myself getting the 10man polearm any time soon with us having a single raid night this week and attempting hard modes for the first time.

Disrupter — Mon, 03/22/2010 - 16:10It's extremely depressing seeing a forum post that's greatly helpful and informative for the person it's directed to and anyone else that's interested in this sort of thing and seeing that instead of accepting the help the primary person it was directed at gets extremely defensive and makes a pissed off post.
I've had similar reactions in the past, but mine was me being questioned on an Arcane vs Fire debate and me trying to explain that even as fire I'm going oom without a shadow priest on Brutallus. All they're trying to say is, if you aren't aware, you could possibly up your dps an amount with a simple gem and spec switch. This is what Downfall's raid needs to beable to do, consider the benefit of the raid over the benefit of themselves.
All Derchlon was saying that there is the possibility that with a switch to armor pen gems and a switch in spec to marks that you could possible up your dps. I've seen your dps go up alot from what it was when I first saw you start, you've gotten alot of gear under your belt. Perhaps what he says has some merit, and you should look into it. If we don't need the replenishment, and you'd gain any significant number of dps, your personal prefference may not be what's best for the raid.
Come on guys, if someone offers help, don't get defensive about it, discuss it and get what you can from it.

The point is you are theoretically capable of higher damage with Marksmanship if that is something you want to try. I wasn't sure if you were aware of that, since you hadn't crossed 800 ArP from gear alone.
I made the post public not to call you out for anything (you are doing a great job!), but as a reference for people who think their hunters or hunter alts should gem armor penetration. Some are capable: you. Some are not: the other 95% of all hunters.
As for the new hunter... I've tried to help him, but that is a separate topic and completely unrelated to the OP's intentions.

(specs is what im getting at). Aeo you have said yourself that a survival hunter with my gear could do a great deal of dps over me.
I may be completely wrong and ill gladly shut up if i am, but this is just an idea that popped into my head as i was reading this thread.
