Vent is killing me
Omnisiah — Sun, 03/21/2010 - 14:22
So two issues, and I would appreciate help on both.
First, when I have Vent and WoW going my FPS drops sick amounts, barely playable. At times its worked way better than others, I thought I had to working right but when I went into my first Raid it went crazy. Ive been running through the Vent Forums, Ive played with things like the NetworkThrottlingIndex in the registry, and changing the priority of Vent in Tast Manager.
Second, when i downloaded Vent I followed the Guide on our site to get it all set up, but I still sounds like crap. I will be running out and getting headset soon, but I think the problem is bigger than that.
Here is a pic of my main settings screen in case you see anything off. Let me know if you have any ideas on how to fix these problems, I like to talk quite a bit, so lets get this sorted! lol

It Worked!
Omnisiah — Sun, 03/21/2010 - 19:17Its running smoother than ever now, I popped into one of our more populated servers and gameplay didn't seem to suffer in the slightest. And people seem to hear me much more clearly now.
Thanks for all of the help guys.

You don't have a hardware
starstalker — Sun, 03/21/2010 - 14:50You don't have a hardware mixer selected, so I assume you have a USB headset. If that is the case, the performance problem might be related to your motherboards chipset drivers. Have you updated them with the latest drivers from VIA/Intel/Nvidia (whoever makes your chipset)?
What about it sounds like crap? Can you describe it? Does it sound tinny? Too much reverb/echo? Is it other people talking that sound bad, or do other people say *you're* the one that sounds bad? Have you tried disabling the Microphone input under the Playback/Speaker
properties?
Lastly, it appears that you're running W7 x64. Is this correct?
Thats correct, W7x64. The

The only think I am using at the moment is a Logitech Webcam with a built in Mic. It is USB.
Ill check into the motherboard chipset drivers.
And I hear people pretty well, but they seem to pick up ALOT of sound from my end and at other times Ive heard people say it sounds like Im in a tunnel.
1) Get a headset 2) When you
starstalker — Sun, 03/21/2010 - 15:231) Get a headset
2) When you say people complain because they "get a lot from your end", what do they mean? They hear themselves talking when you talk? Your answers are kind of vague, so I'm going to take a guess that when you speak into your mic, you can hear yourself coming from your own speakers. Is this correct?
Not everytime, but yes. I
Omnisiah — Sun, 03/21/2010 - 16:42Not everytime, but yes. I believe they can hear my game plus their own voices through my mic.
