Mice Mice Baby

So I had a question on the shoutbox a few days ago. I believe my mouse is dying, it just stops working randomly, but works again if I unplug and replug it. Then it's all fine and dandy again for 15 mins or a day or somewhere in between.
It kinda gives me false hope that everything's all fixed again, but it's making me think that maybe I should upgrade. I've always used cheap mice, 2-3 buttons, scroll wheel, cause this was one piece of hardware I didn't care about. Perhaps time to try something better with moar buttons!
So now I basically went to a Best Buy and took a look at what was out there, how they felt, and how far should I really splurge into this. I'll list the ones that caught my eye, tell me if you got any insight to any of these or others.
Logitech M500: Seems to be a good standard mice that's above the 3 button variety.
Logitech MX Wireless: This only caught my attention cause it's on sale atm. Advertised as a high powered wireless mouse, but at this price, maybe I should just dive into the gaming mice.
Logitech G500: Now it's the whole gaming mouse with 10 programmable buttons. Splurge worthy?
Razor DeathAdder 3500: It glows, but is it worth considering over the G500?
Razer Naga Laser MMO: How bout getting 17 whole buttons? This thing looks to have a whole damn keyboard at the tip of your thumb. Go go one handed playing for realz!
SteelSeries WoW MMO: 15 buttons here it appears and customized for WoW and all. That D button at the thumb looks interesting to use. But to get something specifically for WoW, or something more flexible for other stuff, or maybe this is flexible either way. How is it vs the Razer?
So, what do you think I should splurge on? Got any others worth mentioning?

saedo — Sun, 07/25/2010 - 02:46So to end this tale of the many mice I wound up getting the Logitech G500. Saw it on sale for $55 (normally $80) so thought it'd be a good deal.
Side note, the Sidewinder X5 was on sale too at $50 (normally $70).
Went $5 more for the G500 for it provides me with 5 more buttons, this frictionless scroll wheel which is awesome for web trolling, and I still liked the feel over the Sidewinder. Except maybe the big 2 vertical side buttons, that would've been the only feature.
Well, now it's time to play with it to see what can I do with these extra buttons.
Thank you all for your opinions and advice.

the grey thing that runs arround it is detachable so after you take that off it has a nice feel to it. 15 programable buttons if you use the 4 in 1 button setup.
Thats a nice
Maltoheals — Thu, 07/22/2010 - 10:14Thats a nice looking mouse
One thing I do not like about it is that the 5 and 6 button are broken out to each side of the mouse (or maybe I am just seeing things wrong)
I have gotten really used to using my thumb on both the 4 and 5 buttons
Splitting those up might just freak me out and make me nerd rage lol

I use a Sidewinder
Maltoheals — Wed, 07/21/2010 - 22:56I use a sidewinder 5 button mouse.....
I feel the 5 buttons is all I need and the DPI switch is nice for aliasing
http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/gaming/productdetails.aspx?pid=100
Also like the fact it is weighted and slides well even after over a year of use for various games (and I am a bit biased I worked in MS hardware for quite some time and kind of am partial to their optical system......
I was apart of the Optical team in MS hardware and know for certain that they out perform most of the comp in both DOF (greater depth of field) and also locking into the greatest variety of surfaces

Derchlon — Thu, 07/22/2010 - 00:08Aesthetically, I like the Steelseries WoW mouse, and the Sidewinder 5 button mouse.
Being a hunter, I need buttons buttons, and more buttons to do my job effectively.
PvE: at least 4 mouse buttons. (assuming combinations with +Shift and +Ctrl etc.)
PvP: Hunters have over 50 different macros needed to compete at the high end of Arenas. The more buttons the better.
I must admit
Maltoheals — Thu, 07/22/2010 - 06:26I must admit I have been curious about the wow mouse I have not used that one.........
I can definately see where the extra buttons could help but with my priest and warrior I have not needed more then 5. Infact my mouse is mostly movement.... Stafing is tied to my 4 and 5 buttons....... Just a habit I built over time I guess when tanking lol
I have
bluetouguyss — Wed, 07/21/2010 - 20:16logitech mx 518 wired controller. It was suggested to me when my wireless went out. It has two thumb buttons one of which I use as my vent keybind. other is autorun. has some other fine tuning buttons on it and an alt-tab like button on it. I would def suggest it!
With mouses, I feel like
Threerick — Wed, 07/21/2010 - 17:01With mouses, I feel like getting wired is the best ones. I will never go for a wireless mouse/keyboard for gaming. With that being said I would take Logitech MX Wireless out of the list. Just me though I mean you may feel it could be conveniant. I've tried the Razer Naga Laser MMO with 17 buttons, WEIRD... I do not like the buttons on the side, i see no point to it, i feel like it's unnecessary. Now the other ones I would knock off the list would be the big bulky ones like the SteelSeries WoW MMO or Logi M500, I feel the big bulkyness makes the mouse too heavy and just uncomfortable.
The ones I do recommend though would be either the Logitech G500 or the Razer DeathAdder.
I'm actually using the Microsoft SideWinder (link below). This is little bit more expensive than your Razer mouse but cheaper than the Logi G500. I would recommend this mouse. It has multiple dpi settings you can switch between and I believe there is macro recording on it. Ummm there is a storage space in the mouse where you can add/minus little weights the mouse comes with to your liking. I've actually seen this mouse in futureshop near my area for much cheaper, i picked one up for about 50$. But I would recommend this one.

Another solid mouse that I have used in the past that I liked was the Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0 If you can find this mouse, it's a pretty good buy. Less features then the SideWinder series, but fairly good feel in your hand. I loved this mouse. ( Link below )

Post more mouses if you find any other ones that you're interested in. I'm apparently a big microsoft fan when it comes to mouses >.>

saedo — Wed, 07/21/2010 - 22:33I actually did see a Sidewinder, but I kinda thought it was too angular and didn't like how it felt on my hand. But the picture in that one doesn't seem angular. Slight different model maybe, or trick of the camera?
There was another that I passed over, and that's the Logitech G9x. Thought it was pretty much shaped like the Sidewinder I saw. The sale price might make it appealing if it's a really special mouse that deserves to be the most expensive at normal prices...
I forget if I saw this one, Logitech G5 or mixed it up with the G500. 5 Buttons to play with so it's the DeathAdder counterpart.
The SteelSeries Ikari might have been there too, I keep trying to remember some $80 black mouse but might have mixed this up with a Razor.
I don't understand what you
Threerick — Wed, 07/21/2010 - 23:01I don't understand what you mean by angular. But the G6 is pretty good mouse. Also most steelseries/razer mouse are fairly solid gaming mouses. But sidewinder has slowly become my fav so far.
Having those right angle
saedo — Wed, 07/21/2010 - 23:15Having those right angle edges. And did you mean G9? Or G5?
I think i meant G5
