Saedo with Power Auras
saedo — Fri, 10/15/2010 - 01:21
So I decided to give Power Auras a shot and spent a couple nights setting this up.
Here's a screen fully labelled with everything on.

- My don't be Bill indicator. Tells me if I don't have Wound Poison on the main hand. Of course, lights up out of combat too.
- Don't be Bill indicator part 2. This time, for Deadly Poison on the offhand, telling me if I don't have it
- Heroism / Time Warp / Ancient Hysteria indicator
- Revealing Strike indicator, tells me if it's already on the target
- No flask indicator, similar to the poisons ones
- No food indicator
- This outer ring is now my psuedo energy bar. Lower my energy is, sections of this ring disappears (counter clockwise). Green is low energy, red is high, purple part is too late already energy capped.
- This fancy middle ring is set up for my Bandit's Guile. I get 3 different buffs, 5/10/15% damage boosts, so it's green at 5, yellow at 10, and red at 15
- The inner ring is now my combo point indicator. It's acutally green at 1-2 combo points, yellow at 3-4, and red at 5
- Slice and Dice timer, also a giant transparent icon if it's not up
- Rupture timer, same as above, giant icon if not up
- Killing Spree usage notice
- Tricks usage notice, and Revealing Strike notice to only appear at exactly 4 combo points. I should use it then. If I "accidently" go to 5, icon disappears, and I should not use it anymore, missed my chance. Stacked together with Tricks icon, hopefully won't conflict
- Adrenaline Rush usage notice
- 12% armor debuff indicator, set to monitor anyone's expose armor / sunder armor / faerie fire / tear armor. A red glowing armor icon appears in its place if there's nothing up. So I should expose armor myself then.
What do you all think? Too much? Not enough? What else can/should I do/drop?

You guys are insane.

This is what in combat looks
Katzeus — Fri, 10/15/2010 - 21:21This is what in combat looks like...
Here's everything turned on....
1. Tricks of the trade available to use (in combat)
2. Heroism active
3. Death's Verdict Proc
4. No sunder armor up
5. No Slice and Dice (in combat)
6. Slice and Dice up w/ Timer
7. Vendetta off CD (in combat)
8. No main hand poison (always up)
9. No off hand poison (always up)
10. Rupture up (cast by me, with timer)(This was formerly set to track any bleed so I knew when I could put up HfB)
11. Health below 35%
12. No Flask (only up in group/raid)
13. Aggro on me
14. Combo Points
15. Mongoose Proc (fmrly berserking)
16. Timer for poison on MH and OH (only up in group/raid)
17. Small yellow arrows for 4 CP, larger Red added at 5 CP
18. No food buff (only in raid/group)
I've modified this setup over the past year or so and I can say without hesitation that power auras is the best addon ever made (sorry grid). I leveled my pally using it and every time I learned a new aura/seal/proc/whatever I added it in with power aura into my UI and it was AMAZING. It takes some time to setup, but you can share "scripts" for every aura so that you can give them to other people with the same conditions you use. If anyone wants to try any of my auras let me know, I'll post em up.
Thanks So I copied your
saedo — Sat, 10/16/2010 - 00:13Thanks!
So I copied your Heroism indicator, added indicators to tell me lack of SnD, Ruptures, and tweaked a few other things.
I now use an inner ring texture for my combo points. It builds up clockwise, with it being green at 1-2 combo points, yellow at 3-4 combo points, and red at 5 combo points.
I have an outer ring that serves as my psuedo energy bar. A ring that also builds up clockwise, it fills in at certain intervals as my energy goes up. Green is good, red is high, when it reaches purple though, it's too late, energy is capping. Not particularly precise, but I figure I'll just look down at pitbull if I really want to know the number.
Watcha think?
Also, one question, is there a way to make it change behavior or something when a timer is expiring? Like grow big and flash when 5 sec is left to get attention.
Nice I haven't setup anything
Katzeus — Sat, 10/16/2010 - 07:11Nice
I haven't setup anything that is based on a timer expiring, I'll have to look to see how that would work. I really only track two timers, my SnD and my rupture, and I keep both timers about a 1/8 inch apart so I can easily and quickly see how much time I have left on both.
One more thing I used this for before the patch was tracking missing buffs. I had fort, kings, mark and might all set to toggle icons on the bottom of my screen if I was missing one of those buffs, so at readychecks I'd just glance to that area, and if nothing was highlighted I was fully buffed. I don't know how it works with the new buff system, but I plan on configuring that again when I have a chance.
I also should give you and anyone else wanting to use this a heads-up. I've been able to successfully use this addon since Ulduar without any problems, but the one fight that gives it an issue is Festergut. His gaseous blight when it's thickest (beginning of the fight and after here releases it) for some reason obscures elements of my power auras. It's not SUPER critical, I just don't want anyone going in there without knowing about it.
I'll look into the timers thing this afternoon and let you know if I can make it work
I took a look and figured how
Katzeus — Sat, 10/16/2010 - 10:32I took a look and figured how to to toggle an aura to come up when a timer is about to expire.
Go to the timer tab and the option is at the very bottom. You don't need to check "show" to show the timer, just slide the slider under "Hide Aura & Timer until Time Above:" and set it for how many seconds left you want the timer to show up at.
It's a little confusing the wording of the tooltip, it really should read "Until time below", but I tested it and it works the way you want it to.
I don't think you can change the behavior of an active aura this way, but you can make a new aura, or layer a copied aura with some flashy animation to alert you.
Thanks, I'll give it a try
saedo — Sat, 10/16/2010 - 10:54Thanks, I'll give it a try later.
I'd just thought this would help cause I'm not used to number timers, haven't used something like that in years. EventHorizon before were moving bars, so I'd basically be watching a depleting bar to figure out if stuff is running out. This behavior should add a better visual cue for me til I get used to it, maybe.
Oh one more question, any way to make energy appear as a numerical value? If there is, less reason to look at pitbull.
Yup, there's a few things you
Katzeus — Sat, 10/16/2010 - 11:51Yup, there's a few things you need to do to make this work....
1) select "Text Aura" and under text to display type %v. This will display text value for your aura.
2)Activation by dropdown select "Rage/Energy/Power" and then select "Energy" from the Power Type dropdown.
3) Adjust your threshold, if you set it at 100% it'll be visible at cap, but you can adjust it so that you only see your energy as a value below a certain number or whatever.
The little "T" button next to your value will let you adjust your font and the other options are pretty much the same
All right, I've now doubled
saedo — Sat, 10/16/2010 - 22:22All right, made a few tweaks to size and stuff, moved the energy ring in one so it's the middle now, and doubled up on my timers.
Poisons/Flasks/Food will pop up with a timer if there's less than 10 mins left on them, and only out of combat. Will serve as my pre-boss pull make sure these buffs don't run out mid fight check.
SnD and Rupture will have an addition larger (and more transparent) icon to get my attention at < 5 sec.
Got the energy thing working, but fonts don't seem as pretty as the timer fonts. But, it doesn't seem to update instantly, know anyway to force it to?
Also, any way for a poison on the throwing weapon indicator?
Poison on throwing weapon
Katzeus — Sun, 10/17/2010 - 17:27Poison on throwing weapon would be awesome. If it doesn't work now I bet the next update will have it.
Ah, I totally forgot telling
Katzeus — Fri, 10/15/2010 - 20:27Ah, I totally forgot telling you I would post up some stuff about this. I'll take a shot of my setup and show you what I've got, it's pretty similar.
Just noticed you bill comment
Zevix — Fri, 10/15/2010 - 11:42Just noticed you bill comment as well ^ . ^
......I'm so good I don't even to use poisons!
In my own personal opinion
Zevix — Fri, 10/15/2010 - 11:40In my own personal opinion that looks like a little much to me. If you have ever seen my screen shots you will notice I got for the simple strat when a looking at my UI. I like to have the least amount of UI elements on my screen to make it function the right way. Although I am looking for a new combo point tracker since my broke Q.Q, and I have herd good things about this addon. Let me know how it function in a raid, that the true test imo.
Yea it only looks so
saedo — Fri, 10/15/2010 - 12:39Yea it only looks so cluttered atm because I'm in config mode showing everything off plus the labelling
In practice...
So the only things that should constantly appear are:
So mostly 2 rings, 2 icons, and a combo point number. Otherwise, random icons pop up telling me what I should look to do.
Saedo, can you post an
garreth — Fri, 10/15/2010 - 16:16Saedo, can you post an in-combat pic?
All right done, replaced the
saedo — Fri, 10/15/2010 - 17:46All right done, replaced the original pic with one in combat.
This is what I will see at 4 combo points (icon telling me to RS), all CDs popped already, with SnD, Rupture, and Expose running, while Bandit's Guile is in red mode, and my energy is capping (well it's already capped by now).
One thing that might be
Scaron — Fri, 10/15/2010 - 12:03One thing that might be making this look more cluttered than is actually the case is that in the SS the config window for PowerAuras is up. Plus, the labelling of addons and powerauras with numbers is artifically giving about 14 extra numbers that wouldn't be there during raid.
something i would to to test
Keisjaa — Fri, 10/15/2010 - 06:12something i would to to test it is (especiallly the CP indicator) it's visibility on various backgrounds, see if there's any floors/walls in instances you can think of that'd make it hard to see.
I had it happen with some of mine when i made them white(hodir & such) or red (fire type rooms) not usually a big deal for things that pop up but some tend to blend it at times
Thanks for the heads up. I
saedo — Fri, 10/15/2010 - 10:29Thanks for the heads up. I guess some of the small white text timers I have may be a problem in some rooms, but hopefully the icons/textures will be enough.
Combo points might be, but I always have a secondary indicator in that it'll appear on my target frame too. Though now I'm thinking maybe I should try using one of those multi piece textures. Make it build up the big picture with the combo points. Will have to play with it more tonight.
Yeah I used the 3 part circle
Keisjaa — Fri, 10/15/2010 - 12:16Yeah I used the 3 part circle one for saschaa's molten Core tracker in 3.3 iit works quite well as the multi part graphics are newer & seem to be less transparent(even at 100% opacity)
