I'd say you pass. Theoretically you should be ~1000dps behind me, and that's about where you were.
CD usage was fine for the most part. Except...
Otherwise, the combat CDs look fine, you used the same amount as me. You got your speed pot in and all too. Good job.
Edit: One more thing I didn't get into before. You should use the Tricks glyph. It's best for overall raid dps even if it is costing you a bit of personal dps. Besides, the rest of us glyph it so we're all giving each other a 10 sec 15% damage buff instead of that cruddy old 6 second one. ;p

Other than that, yeah I agree with you on how my cd's were being used, I found myself stalling when beast came out to drop my bombs, and at times I was just focused on keeping rupture and SnD up that I forgot my accelerators a couple of times. Trying to work on that though. Other than that I do appreciate the advice that was given to me, and am happy to help when I am able.(FYI I carry over 200 bombs per raid, so if you run out feel free to ask :P)
Don't worry about dropping
Katzeus — Thu, 06/24/2010 - 11:14Don't worry about dropping bombs on the beasts, they have an aura that reduces AoE damage so you couldn't pull aggro with bombs if you wanted to. Bombs are very unforgiving with dps, so you may want to bind them to sinister strike or something to effectively use them everytime they're off CD. If you're even 3 seconds late I think you lose like a few hundred dps.
Tricks uptime is really more important then missing a bomb or two (or failing at bombs all together for that matter), in a fight like Saurfang where we're really under the gun to push out raid dps the extra damage from squeezing out 3 more tricks if you're glyphed for it is going to see 20 times the damage that bombs would do. There's a couple addons I can recommend for easier management of that cooldown; TricksorTreat is out of date right now, but when it gets fixed it'll tell you when you're trick'd with a raid warning (very useful for managing your cooldowns effectively) and I use PowerAura to flash a huge icon in the middle of my screen anytime I'm in combat and it's off cooldown.
If you get poweraura setup pst me and I'll give you some really useful scripts, I know Bill and Saedo do it differently though so you can check with them for what works.
As far as ToT I use a macro

I key bound my Saronite bombs so I can use them every time they re off CD. I use sexycooldown to watch my timers on ToT and Bombs. I also try to off set them so that they wont come off CD at the same time, I like to time the bombs so they fall into the times when i'm waiting for my energy to regen, they are good filler since your waiting on moves anyhow.
I keep 2 macros around. One

The standard macro I use is:

What this does is if it can, Tricks your currrent target, if not, Tricks your focus (where I focus tanks/dps whoever), if not, Tricks your target's target (hopefully that's a tank).
The second macro is setup to Tricks the other guy.

There's 2 candidates to drop and neither are technically wrong, Sinister Strike and Rupture.
Theoretically, Rupture gives the highest dps. Sustainable tank and spank high rupture uptime fights.
But personally, I couldn't stand playing without the Sinister Strike glyph lol Cause without that, it's more of a complete static cycle. I opt'd for Sinister Strike to be a bit more dynamic with the whole fluke string of combo points. Theoretically, it's only a 20 dps drop either way.
So, pick whatever glyph you wanna drop, Sinister Strike or Rupture, either is fine.

In terms of a bomb macro, I already have it bound with my sinister strike, with a cooldown watcher on the macro to let me know when the cd timer for the bombs is back up so I can use them again. For tricks it's more or less me needing to pay attention more, but I'm sure the macros will help so I'll go ahead and try to incorporate them.
Edit: I would like to mention though, that I'm a goblin engineer, so I'm thinking that I should be starting off with the sapper charge first, and using the bombs every cooldown till that's back up, rinse, repeat.

Thanks for coming along tonight and wiping with us for 2 hours. It's good to see an app willing to stick through to fights with the not-so-free loot. From what I can tell, you did very well tonight. I look forward to seeing what you can do on a tank-and-spank type of a fight.
Secondly, I hold Saedo's opinion in very high regard. He's been the #1 guy in this raid since we formed at the start of WOTLK, and the best rogue that I have raided with. I would definately listen to any advice he has for you, and try not to take the blunt nature of it personally. While WoW and raiding isn't a full-time job for anyone here, it is the job of our raid officers to put the best possbile, and most commited raid together. We need people who know how to play their class at a high level. We've been through our share of fail rogues. Fail rogues hurt our brains. Based on 1 night of raiding, you dont seem like a fail rogue to me. However, as you could tell, we are trying to progress through hard-mode content. This means maximizing every stat that we can, and squeezing as much dps out as we can. If changing your gems gets you an extra 200+ dps, then that's a no-brainer. If farming up armor pen food helps you get more dps than a fish feast, then we expect you to be well stocked for a full raid.
Lastly, any (insert non-offensive animal species here) can push their buttons in the order they are told/read for the best numbers. What is more important now is: can you move out of fire/poison/ice/glowing icon on the ground that explodes?
