So Mop is just around the corner and I have the feeling that it'll be that time of the month soon enough and PMS will roll back around to be the late night raid.

So my question is this. Who's coming back? what role will you be able to fill (and want to)
Let's get a list going here so Kaluu's brain doesnt explode from trying to work this all out on his own.
Also let's discuss how we can address our achilles heel for so very long now, overall dps.
What classes are OP what ones are underpowered? please discuss what you know thus far about the expansion

Mehguy — Thu, 09/13/2012 - 11:57Found out today that I'm going back to my old section at work at the beginning of October, and if that happens, theres a 50/50 chance I'll end up on the nightshift. If that happens I definitely will not be able to raid.

And that my leaving my current position is NOT set in stone. It still MIGHT happen, but my section lead is going to fight it to keep me where I'm at, because he doesn't want to lose me.

now were back at the point where we have 2 druid healers and a holy pally. however I'm not thinking that will be a problem. Also if Pure can learn to heal as holy or disc, he can change for the fights we need him to and we can have either Moon or Razi go Feral for said fight. But I'd rather we keep that on an as needed basis.
So far I haven't seen all the fights but I haven't run into any in particular that would require a different healing makeup

So yeah a skilled player can bring their DPS up to what we need to progress. We have those skills but didn't flex them in Firelands or DS.
DPS is what has held us back for 2 tiers of content. So what can we do/change to bring ourselves up.
Also sorry Aeolyn seems hunters got the short end of the stick

Mehguy — Sun, 09/09/2012 - 19:16If people are not performing to where they should (obviously based on gear/stats early on per tier), then "tough shit, go sit" and fuck around on the dummies and research to figure out what you are doing wrong and correct it.
No more "sorry, my spec is heal, and heal", "I don't have a dps spec", "I don't know how to play that spec", "I don't have the gear for it". That needs to end. It needs to come down to everyone needs to KNOW 2, if not all 3 specs for their class and have their shit straight for each. Certain fights will be better for different specs or classes and its the responsibility of the player to understand their role and that they may be required to perform differently from fight to fight. Like I said, I understand early on it won't exactly be ideal because I believe we're planning on raiding week after release, so not everybody will have had adequate time to collect everything needed for 2/3 specs. But definitely NLT a month into raiding, everyone should have their gear and shit straight, either from raiding, H dungeons, or Valor/rep.
In addition, I've always been ok with the idea of "let people play what they want to play", why? Because it makes them happy and more likely to continue to play the game if they can play the spec/class they want. But if we want to be top 10m on Gorg, perhaps thats a philosophy that we need to change as well. Sure it may be all fine and dandy to have a Ele shaman in raid because he/she likes to play it, but if Enh is by far the overall better dps and he/she is holding back the raid progressing because they don't like/know how to play Enh, then they better f-ing learn how to play it. If not... "tought shit, go sit", and find someone to fill in to get progression going until that person figures their shit out.
In other words, LEARN/PLAY the spec that is going to provide the most for the raid and our overall progression, not the spec you want to play and, in-turn, put out shit DPS and ride the bottom of the meters just above the tanks.

So I guess my options are to wait and see what happens, play DK, raid on my Horde server, or level another class to run with you guys? Or, I guess, play Borderlands 2 a whole heck of a lot this expanison. >.>;

Elapsed — Sun, 09/09/2012 - 17:45There is no reason we cant or shouldn't bring a hunter and thats never what I intended to imply or for you to infer.(the I'm sorry was because hunters as a group had no amazing DPS option, I hope that changes) With someone as skilled as you I don't think you'll be anything short of one of our best DPS like last expo.
The way I look at these types of meters is what the real good players can do given no faults in a rotation. so if we have you doing that (which you do already) then we have no problems.
for the people who can't I hope you're on a powerful dps class/spec to be able to make a few more mistakes and still keep us competative with the current bosses.

now this could be a difference of gear or rotation, but given how close together fire and frost seem in both simulations, I would say you're good either way you go. I am intrested to see however how you fare and what spec you do more deeps in

From what I have been reading the only problem is going to be stat priority. Looking like fire will want crit,frost wanting haste and arcane wanting....mastery!? I respeced frost to test the numbers and it really does look almost even all around
