Galaga dips toe into the deep end of the pool; Heroics help appreciated

badpenny's picture

badpenny — Mon, 03/17/2014 - 19:42

So 10 yrs later and we have finally downed Garrosh, ty all.

We're going to attempt H Immerseus tomorrow and 3rd boss too.  Assuming Immerseus likely won't go down the 1st night and maybe 3rd might be easier.  We will use the PMS strat for Immerseus and attempted a few pulls several weeks ago.

The Swirl seemed to almost always nail us during the stacking phase for the adds . . . we tried stacking far away, we tried running through, any suggestions?  Seems really healz intensive and I imagine some might have stood in fire during the swirl too.  We popped DA too during that phase and mass dispel part way through.

We only got to the transition once and the aoe damage seemed pretty intense.  Should we root some adds to spread out the damage or just get better at burning them all quick?

Thanks all!

spent some quality time on Sha, it was mother's day after all

badpenny — Mon, 05/12/2014 - 08:09

The last 1.5 hrs of raid time was spent on Sha and was really productive for us.  We got him down to 23% our last pull, so progress for us and the raid parse is up if you see anything obvious.

1. By the end, we were pretty solid on "rifts", but we clearly could be better as under 30% they were everywhere.  We had a ton behind the tanks as they were taking about 5 a piece and getting into issues with "pride" levels.

2. Banishment mechanic is fun and we seem to have that mastered, except on occasion when people forget that person and they don't mention they are running around a maze.  I think I had the record at the end getting 9 orbs down there when it was me and the 2 tanks remaining on the last pull, lol.

3. 2 healz seems very manageable, but a disc priest and pally healer is a crappy comp.  Tuesday we should have Whillow back and I will tank and we'll have disc and druid.

4. I think we didn't share "gift" enough personally, so that is another dps bump we could get.

5. My favorite Mumble comment from a raider after there was a raid wide instagib and we explained what to do when your pride level is over 50, "I wondered what that green arrow was in front of me." (boom)

Some questions:

1. How do we handle tank pride better?  Should they be taking so many "rifts"?  Badwulf absorbed 5, but we then had to pop Heroism early because his pride level was at 90.

2. So far we've been absorbing "rifts" as people can, calling out locations, but leaving it to everyone to know when their debuff came off.  I tried to use my grid to show the debuff, but it wouldn't record it. Do you set a rotation or even assign maybe the long locations to some people.  We were thinking of after "Swelling Pride" have a healer and 2 people "go long" to get the tank side of the room. Thoughts?

thanks

For tank pride

Mehguy — Mon, 05/12/2014 - 12:55

Yes, tanks should be taking a rift whenever they have a chance. Primarily we let ours worry about the ones behind them or off to their right (next to their designated prison) as its the closest "area" for them to deal with. Best way to manage their pride is for them to properly taunt off as soon as one gets the debuff. Also hopefully they are watching their feet good so they arent taking the 'missile' hits from the rifts that ARE up.
I think most of our high pride stacks for tanks at the start was taunting at the right time. There were a couple occasions where I would be out grabbing a rift, and as I was out getting a rift, Lumi got the tank debuff and took some melee hits, BAM 15 extra pride that was avoidable. So they just kind of need to figure out when its best to run out to get a rift.

One thing we did, was play around with taunts, and had either one of us take 2 of the Sha debuffs back to back. You can do this because the tank debuff from Sha will fall off before he applies the next debuff on the tank. Use this to your advantage. For example...
- Lumi is tanking boss at the pull, I get a rift debuff
- Sha debuff applied to Lumi. I taunt boss, allowing Lumi to run out and get his rift debuff.
- Sha debuff gets applied to me, Lumi taunts boss, allows me to run out to get a new rift as mine has/is falling off.
- My tank debuff from Sha falls off, I taunt the boss before he applies a new debuff to Lumi. This is done because Lumi's rift stack has fallen off and he should grab one soon, but if we wait, it will leave an extra rift up that can be collected.
- Lumi runs out, grabs a rift, and in the process of returning to the boss, I get the tank debuff again. Lumi immediately taunts back and now he has a fresh/long rift debuff and wont have to worry about it falling off at the beginning/middle of tanking Sha.

The timing will be a little off/tricky, but it helps prevent extra rifts from being up longer than they should be. Plus it prevents a tank from tanking Sha without having a rift debuff on them. If a tank is holding Sha, he should always have a Rift debuff on him. Its a matter of just playing around with timers for Sha's tank debuff and the rift debuff and knowing when to taunt 'early' so a tank can get a rift when he doesnt have one.

Its definitely not required to do it like that, but it just helped us a bit because of those times where I went out to get a rift and Lumi got extra Pride from the tank debuff, OR if I had waited and taunted when I was supposed to, it left me tanking the boss for an entire "session" without having a debuff from closing a rift.

Answers to Questions. 1)

Answers to Questions.

1) Remember at 30% Norushen dies and everyones pride resets, so both healers and tanks alike can push to 100% pride as long as you will be pushing 30% before the next Swelling Pride. Also having a tank at 100% pride before then is a DPS boost from them so it's can actually help with the first kill, once again if managed correctly before 30%.

2) room assignments aren't really needed and your strat while noble seems a bit over complicated (weird that we didn't come up with something like that because in PMS we dabble in over complicating strats early on before we figure shit out) One thing to note is to encourage DPS to go grab on norushen's side of the room but remind them to watch out for Mark of Arrogance and if they plan to out range the healers dont have it. Also some sort of minor CD can help a bit but shouldn't be needed as long as they dont have that debuff. Also if you can save the "closest" rifts for the healers, or at least when they need a rift let them grab close and have dps get the one half way across the room, that helps a ton.

Replies to statements

1) There shouldn't be that many rifts if your raiders are grabbing them whenever they are able. Need to ensure someone is on top of calling people out whenever possible.

2) Banishment NEEDs to be called out. While playing pacman is fun, and entirely survivable for upwards of 1 min as a non healer, you have to remember the longer you're in there the more DPS you're losing on the boss. Oh and depending on your timing banished people when they come out are 80% more likely to be Imprisoned.

3) Yeah two bubblers suck, and trying to go holy pally on your first kill is chaotic at best. But a few kills in and you can go hpally/druid or hpally/shammy easy enough. It just takes some co-ordination. (and accepting the fact that you'll be standing in shit at the last 20% of the fight lol)

4) We still all stay near Gorehowl as much as possible and get the people with the buff to try and be the closest to eachother.  If it helps everyone can set DBM to yell when affected by Gift. Then also as long as people have chat bubbles on they will see everyone with it.

5) lol I think I may have said that once upon a time. But yeah you have almost 5-6 seconds to get into that, so as long as you're aware of it before the next Swelling Pride. You're generally more than ok. Lumi in our raid calls out the people who will have a puddle before the next Swelling Pride and it helped a lot early on.

Thanks E

badpenny — Mon, 05/12/2014 - 11:37

Sounds like repititions are what we need most and I like the healers taking close "rifts".  I was running across the room and with only 1 speed boost option, it took a while.

house keeping update and H Sha questions

badpenny — Thu, 05/01/2014 - 20:57

Our raid comp is in flux constantly, but we now have a good grp of substitute raiders that we hope to bring on full time with the xp.  Here's where we are.

badpenny (pally healz/tank, but will I ever use this spec . . .) 566/567.6

badwulf (DK tank/dps; only tank I know with 3 tank sets depending on dps need of a boss, lol) 569.3

Eddrina (bear/kitty mdps; only cat I'm not allergic to) 567.3

Darkpo (monk mdps Sunday) 568.8

Hackman (pally mdps; drug kingpin) 571.0

Purplefox (disc healz, when he feels like it) 571.1

Saedra (beast rdps and real life archer) 572.5

Sayd (rogue mdps Tue, master of few words) 567.7

Thoridal (bm rdps; AH overlord) 576.3 (unavailable for 2 weeks)

Whillow (drood healz; really, really hates H Immerseus) 565.6

raiders that are always ready:

Daisey (lock rdps; still trying to train us to use lock rocks) 573.6

Koz (bm rdps; an original) 560.7

Lytearrow (bm rdps) 568.7

Pardem (shadow rdps) 565

Sassybrat (shammy healz; what dps spec?) 568.9

H Sha questions:

1. How much can you ignore the rifts?  Meaning, we'll try to get as many as possible in p1, but can you zerg the boss and not do rifts if you get to 30%?

2. We've heard that with the high dps requirement, you should have OT take all self reflection adds and burn them while raiders focus boss.  Is that possible?

3. Again, due to dps constraints, is it a 2 healable fight?

Thank you in advance.

Ignore rifts = stress on

Insta — Tue, 05/06/2014 - 10:45

Ignore rifts = stress on healers, this is where having 3 or more melee sucks because of rifts.

Usually our group grabs rifts before self-reflection, before prison, and after Swelling Pride.

High dps requirement? Could be. Don't forget about the Titan buff, tell members to stack when they have it, gives 3 dps a boost dmg for a short amount of time.

Probably the only reason why you're saying it's a "high dps requirement" is that usually the raid can't survive the next swelling pride after 4th(?)

badpenny's picture

we'll work on timing rifts as you've suggested

badpenny — Tue, 05/06/2014 - 13:22

We spent about 30 minutes on this boss on Tuesday and plan to spend more this time around. The rifts were definitely an issue, but people started to get the hang of banishment.

thanks!

Mehguy's picture

1 - you do not want to ignore

Mehguy — Thu, 05/01/2014 - 22:55

1 - you do not want to ignore any rifts.  Keep them in control at all times.  We tried ignoring them after 30% and it just kept wiping us.  Especially if you dont keep them in check from the very beginning of the fight, you get overwhelmed VERY quick if you ignore them for essentially 1/3 of the bosses health.  I think to get our kill we tried ignoring at 30%, then bumped it down to 25%, then gradually all the way until 10% before we got the kill.  Even then it sucked because before then, the healers really couldnt run out and get rifts because they had to stay put and heal and barely strafe out of the crap the rifts shoot at you.  So that resulted in extra rifts to deal with.  Its better to keep them in check as best as you can early on so you have less of a hellhole to deal with at the end.  It's extremely easy to get overrun by them in the fight.  Keep them in check early and often and you will get a lot farther.

People will always forget, but you really want to stay on top of them.  Even after 30% for the first few kills you will want to make sure people still get rifts.  Caveat to that is if its way in the corner on the other side of the room, dont make it a concern post-30% as you will be at a greater risk of death from ranging heals.  If I remember the timing of how he spawns the rifts, its 1 every 8 seconds, and each person can take one and it the debuff is 1 minute.  So... theoretically each person should only have to worry about grabbing a rift every 80 seconds... however that never works out with the rifts spawning as frequently as they do and the time it takes people to run to a rift to grab them, etc.  You almost always have one to grab once your debuff falls off.  People have to be REALLY conscious of their debuffs and when they are falling off.  Elapsed, and I think kaluu, have it set on their grid to show who does/does not have the debuff on them from a rift.  So there is someone always calling people out if they dont have the debuff and there are rifts open.  In addition to this, your guys REALLY have to pay attention to when they go grab a rift.  If their debuff is off, and Banishment is about to go off, you really dont want people on the opposite side of the room as you, because thats where their 'shadow' will spawn for you to kill to get them out of Pac-Man.  Same goes for when Swelling Pride is about to go off, being out of range for heals can easily result in preventable deaths because someone went too far out at the wrong time.  Once you get the order of his abilities beat into your head, people know when and when not to go get their rift, just takes practice.  Generally we let our high mobility players be more concerned with the ones farther out so they can get out/back into the group quickly so theres less of a chance of death.  Healers tend to stick to the side of the room where we stack so they are always in range of someone.

2 - In the end of the fight you can switch and have the OT tank the adds, but honestly the adds dont stay up all that long.  I usually have bladestorm up each time that self-reflection is up, and I pop it right when they spawn.  With that and Elapsed (being ret) and the tank dmg, they usually drop pretty quick.  MOST of the time they are dead before the Banishment.  But its not a big deal if they stay up for a while, their dmg is pretty negligible.  The big add in the back is the one I'd be more concerned about.  That one definitely needs to drop quick before Swelling Pride goes off.  Also, always have a raid CD up for Swelling Pride, it does a LOT more dmg than normal-mode and can easily wipe you w/o a CD for the first kill/attempts.  We use Devo Aura for the 1st, warrior Demo Banner for the 2nd, Rally Cry for the 3rd, then we rotate those again for the 4th and 5th if we get to that point.  To help early on, we had a 2nd devo aura from our 2nd pali tied into my demo banner, but since Dragon left and we brought Cyzin into the fold, we utilized his Anti-Magic Zone in place of it and it worked fine.  Just 1 good sized raid CD for each swelling pride should suffice.  If after a few attempts its a bit much, you can always have players use personal CDs during the weaker raid CDs to help assist.

3 - yes.  We 2 heal it for PMS.  We can 3 heal it now with gear accumulation, but 2 healing it is how you will have to do it to start unless your DPS is crazy high.  Big thing to help the healers out is, again, not being too far away when the bigger abilities hit, and ensuring people have their general raid awareness and stay out of the 'missile' impact spots coming from the rifts.

one addendum from a healer

Elapsed — Fri, 05/02/2014 - 14:01

one addendum from a healer standpoint, both healers need to cleanse. I know it will lead to having to stand in a puddle at one point but it needs to happen and heres why. People are constantly ranging you (the healer) due to rifts. If they try and say run for a rift on the other side of the room (which as Mehguy said needs to be done for the WHOLE fight) they CANNOT have the debuff on them, the moment they take the damage from absorbing the rift 95% of the time they DIE because of the added debuff damage. The other reasoning for always Cleanse is Prisons if someone is in the "tank's" prison with the debuff, unless you run over VERY quickly, odds are they will die as well from the debuff/prison damage. so the cleansing needs to happen often.

Also, from my experience, I have never seen a person banished who had the debuff. Doesn't mean it can't happen, but I've quite litterally never seen it.

Some questions on H Immerseus now that . . .

badpenny — Thu, 03/27/2014 - 16:05

Shatner and Raz joined us for some pulls and PMS gave me a Willy Wonka bar for a successful pull to see how it's done.

It seemed to work best for us to line up on the far left of the big platform behind boss for the 2 blob part in the beginning (ty for that strat suggestion Shatner).  That really helped control our puddles. Also we'll do the 1 flare tank/healer site method too to reduce confusion.

1. For us, people take way too much damage during the add phase p1.  Are all your dps (PMS is the kill I witnessed) controling their targeted attacks on the boss, meaning no more than 3-4 stacks?  It just seemed like on that kill no one's health was even close to low with only 2 healers. Do they hit boss a couple of times, go to adds and then back to boss after dispelled only?

2. We also seem to have some trouble aggro'ing all the adds to the tank without a few going to random people during that 1st p1 (people seem to have to spread quickly for the puddles after the stack and adds are still up).  The 50 adds don't get out quick enough on our pulls (when we control the debuff stack) and on some tank swaps a few adds get away.  Do you keep both tanks stacked up until shortly before boss does frontal cone debuff on the tank?  Maybe we have the 2nd tank leaving the raid pile too quickly?

Elapsed's picture

1. People stop at 4 stacks

Elapsed — Thu, 03/27/2014 - 18:30

1. People stop at 4 stacks (Aeolyn sometimes hits 5 and so do the tanks or anyone with a significant CD to take the DoT damage.) There are 50 stacks on the boss to start. When you stack up if everyone had lets say 3 stacks (which they will have more) Thats 21 at STACKING then they can hit more knowing the priest will hit the mass dispell at 4-5 (which is like 35 stacks. Then once cleared theyre back getting stacks again. Often it's only 1 tank and 1 DPS that get back up to 4-5 again and others will only get 1-2 more each and then can be individually dispelled. boom thats 50 stacks. I mean even if everyone opened back up full bore on the boss you would only have 15 stacks spread between 7 people (assuming healers don't hit the boss, which they can easily get a stack or two on their own too to help)

2. I would have Badwulf be your first tank, so he can be the offtank after the stack phase. Then he can use Gorefiend's Grasp once ALL adds come out from the mass dispell and then just do as much AOE threat as he can. This would allow your other tank to be the puddle tank and Badwulf will have the adds over with your DPS group then so they can help with the minor cleave needed to take them out (assuming Immerseus still has health left after the group up for mass dispell, which should happen until you get heroic gear)

Mehguy's picture

Elapsed pretty much hit it.

Mehguy — Thu, 03/27/2014 - 19:00

Elapsed pretty much hit it.  You kind of need to control your stacks a little bit, but once you get it practiced a little better, its pretty much becomes 2nd nature and people know what rotation to use to not get a shit-ton of stacks early.

As for the adds that wont stay on Tanks, Elapsed hit that too.  For our first kills, it was myself and Lumi (Monk) tanking.  I was generally always the inital boss tank on the pull and after "Split" transitions because I had Mocking Banner.  This allowed me to constantly taunt any adds to me that came to the group during our stacking phases.  If you have multiple stack phases, then having the tank with the 'weaker' AoE taunt/threat ability being 2nd on the rotation for grabbing adds is better because there shouldnt be that many to grab at that point.

One thing that has kind of been hurting us at times is Cyzin will forget to glyph his army of the dead, so they will constantly taunt adds and he'll drag a SHIT-TON back to front of the boss and theres not a whole lot else we can do with that until transition.  So keep that in mind and consider having that glyphed so adds arent inadvertantly dragged all over the place (based on your tanking order).

Whichever tank has the adds while stacking needs to stay with/near the main group, not running around or behind the boss.  When we did it, I generally stayed right on top of, or near, our stack point.  It kept the adds centralized so the raid could cleave them down quickly without having to worry about them running all over the place or being ranged.  If the current Immerseus tank has adds on him, you can have a few ranged pick them off from a distance, or you can just leave the adds on him until you either stack or get the split transition to finish them off.

One thing that you need to do, if your not already, is figure out is which DPS to dedicate STRICTLY to adds when you stack.  For us, I think we had our ret pali, lock and mage dedicated to them, now I think we have myself and trazi on his shaman dedicated to them, but pretty much most of the dps help out on it.  The faster you get them down, the better your life will be.  It may result in a slight dps loss on the boss briefly, but it will result in better survivability since there will be less adds up dealing dmg on the raid from every direction.  Just figure out who your best cleave/AoE dps is and has some good burst with it and have them dedicated to the adds when you stack.  If you are stacking close enough to the boss then there is still some cleave that will hit him (he has a big hitbox anyways), so its not a total loss.  I also think we utilized heroism on a few of our first kills when the adds spawned so we would get them down faster and still had plenty of time left on heroism for the boss also.  Just remember to have whoever is tanking the adds at that point, keep them centralized as best as they can, and keep an eye on that tank because with all the adds being stacked and if they are using nameplates it can make it VERY hard for them to see puddles so they will take some extra dmg from that.

badpenny's picture

Thanks guys

badpenny — Fri, 03/28/2014 - 07:06

That answers my questions clearly.  We'll apply this strat on Tue and see what happens.

The adds that we are losing

Badwulf — Fri, 03/28/2014 - 07:54

The adds that we are losing aggro on are not in the 1st wave.  They are the adds that trickle out towards the end of the debuff.  By then there are puddle completely covering out stack point and everyone has spread out in different directions.  I will try swapping to gorefiends and save it for if any adds get free but I still think we need to set up a 2nd stack point or at least a path so that we all move in the same direction as the puddles form.

Elapsed's picture

one or two around shouldn't

Elapsed — Fri, 03/28/2014 - 09:06

one or two around shouldn't be the end of the world as long as the DPS switches to them appropiately. You should honestly be pushing split shortly after the stack/dispell phase so there's time before the slimes land for the DPS to turn and kill the individual ones.

If you do want to have a "2nd stack spot" for everyone except the MT and your tank heal. You can certainly do that. Make sure a puddle goes out before you call for the stack (so puddle doesnt go out in the stack area) But you're going to lose DPS on the boss, so weigh that option carefully

hmm, we should be pushing

Badwulf — Fri, 03/28/2014 - 13:47

hmm, we should be pushing split shortly after the stack/dispell phase?  that is really fast, we are nowhere near that.

sometimes we have a dps die as we are stacking, which we are attributing to stacks but we need to get to the bottom of that and prevent it.  But we BRez asap so they can get back to dps.

Other than that, we seem to do pretty well up until the swirl.  But after the swirl things tend to deteriorate as the puddles build up and people spread out more and more.

The timeline of the fight up to the 1st split is: (should be pretty close for all raids since the timers are fixed)

0:00 - engage and all burn boss

0:08 - first puddles form

0:16 - 2nd puddle forms and he gives himself the buff that starts spawning adds

0:24 - 3rd puddles (this time on stack point) and swirl startS.  everyone spreads out to get out of the puddles but we all go in diff directions.

When swirl happens on top us everyone spreads to the winds, when it is on the other side we do more of a soft spread so not as bad.

0:36 - swirl ends and he immediately plants 4th round of puddles at our feet.  We spread out even more and from here the adds start to get hard to collect.

tank without debuff goes back to spot and taunts now.

0:44 - 5th set of puddles

0:52 - 6th set of puddles

1:00 - 7th set of puddles

1:08 - 8th set of puddles

1:16 - 9th set of puddles and 2nd swirl

1:28 - 2nd swirl ends and 10th set of puddles drops.  By this point he has reapplied swelling corruption so new adds start coming out.

just not sure if it happens right before or right after the 2nd swirl

1:36 - 11th set of puddles

...

At 16 seconds we stack and burn the 20 or so adds that have made it to us.  Those all die by 24 seconds when the swirl happens.

When swirls lands on us everyone spreads to the winds and the 30 adds that are still coming out become very hard to gather.  The

dps burns tehm down pretty well but it is chaos as a tank trying to gather the adds that are heading in different directions so

what tends to happen is the MT gets 5-6 on him and the OT desperately tries to get all the rest.

At the end of the 1st swirl we tend to be at 45-50%hp on Immersius.  On previous nights we would then keep killing the adds as they spawn

but eventually the puddles would just overwhelm the room and all the extra moving dropped dps even more.  On tuesday we had

people focus the boss over adds after the 1st swirl and we were getting him to split right before the 2nd swirl, but it was

still normally pretty close.

I would be curious to know how many seconds on average that the 1st split is occuring for other raids.  From the 5th set of puddles (:44 second mark)

on the room starts getting really messy.

Your timing is off. All of

Mehguy — Fri, 03/28/2014 - 14:45

Your timing is off.

All of his abilities are time-based, and there are only 2 puddles that are up before swirl, no puddles spawn during swirl.  See our kill vid HERE.  I also reviewed new kill vids from the last week-month to see if something changed that wasnt mentioned in patch notes, and its the same.  2 swirls before, no swirls during, swirls start again after.

Im starting to wonder if you guys have someone stacking too early, and that no one is noticing it, making you think there are extra pools spawning under you.  That or you are stacking too long and its dropping the 3rd one after swirl.  Once the 2nd pool drops, stack on your stack point, mass dispel, deal with adds and see where swirl is, if swirl is going to hit you, deal with it and then spread, if not, then spread about 1/2 way through his swirl cast so it allows  adds to still flow too one general location to be picked up and dealt with, but then will also allow your raid to get back to their positions to keep pools out of your stack point.  Also, once swirl is done, the tank DOES NOT need to immediately go back to the tanking position.  There is a about 13-15 seconds before he will cast his conal tank debuff, so that is a few extra seconds that you can use on adds to kill them off so the tank doesnt drag too many away.

Another thing to help with, is (see our kill vid) have your ranged stack in a line along that one river of water to the left of your stack point, and then when a pool drops, just strafe right slightly to the edge of the pool.  Dont do a bunch of running around/jumping to get out of it, youll just end up jumping on top of somebody or spreading pools out too far when you should ideally be dropping them on the edge of their last pool.

If you guys are having him at 45-50% at the end of his first swirl, using heroism and CDs, then your DPS is too low, he should be at 45% if not lower going INTO swirl.  The only time you should have a 2nd swirl, or get close to having a 2nd swirl, is after the 1st Split phase.  That 2nd time around he should still have a relatively high health pool, but you wont have heroism to drain his health fast enough.

Another thing you can do to help gather adds, especially after Swirl, is have Penny (if he is on is pali healing), is have him pop on righteous fury and heal like mad, that will drag the adds to him.  We were trying having Elapsed with Righteous Fury through the whole fight, but found it to be more problematic if he was using it prior to stacking because all the adds would be on him before swirl, as compared to only having a few on him afterwards when its just the remnants.

good catch mehguy.  I double

good catch mehguy.  I double checked the videos and the 24 second mark does not spawn a puddle, so the 3rd puddle does not happen until after the swirl is down.  so yeah, someone may be stacking too soon.  but more importantly, we do not spread back out until after the puddles force us to.

Other than the puddle not spawning with swirl, I think all my other timings are correct.  Did you see anything else wrong?  The 2nd swirl does happen at 1:15, verified that on a random youtube heroic 10 kill.

You guys split him at 1:06, and on tuesday towards the end of our attempts we were in the 1:10-1:15 range so not too far behind.  That encourages me.

The biggest diff I see is that you guys get the adds out a lot faster than we do.  After the 1st swirl ends you only had 4 adds left to spawn.  I am thinking we need to try to spawn the adds faster as well.  As a tank I could easily take more stacks but I have been so paniced about getting in position fast and ae aggro that I have probably not been spawning as many as I should.  Will work on that.  Anyway, thanks for the video and input.

more adds faster faster!

badpenny — Fri, 03/28/2014 - 16:22

Maybe I should try to spawn some too. I haven't been as pally healz (Purplefox as disc does), because I've been scrambling to heal Hackman with 6-7 stacks, lol.  Elapsed do you do a few hits on the boss to spawn adds?  We really need people to watch their stacks.  That is an area that needs improvement.

Also Hand of Sacrifice with Clemency and the glyph will help those who you can't cleanse right away. If you see someone early like Hackman with more than 5, cleanse him before the mass as you're grouping. Since you're all stacking anyways, those adds will join the group and it will allow Hackman to quickly get another set of stacks for the mass.

I usually hit sac on 2nd tank (Precision for us) if my cleanse is on CD and he has adds and is moving to take the boss. Gives a little breathing windows for you to get into position and get cleanse off CD and get those remaining stacks off

just a couple, burn my holy

Elapsed — Fri, 03/28/2014 - 16:58

I only take just a couple. I burn my holy shock if I'm not using it on someone and of course Holy Prism, but that would be it. Judgment and Crusdaer Strike arent on my bar since I'm not Selfless Healer build. Denounce is, but I never really stopped to cast it on immerseus before

Badwulf's recollection is also mine for our limited exp

badpenny — Fri, 03/28/2014 - 16:10

Our raid stacks up appropriately after second puddle (for the most part), but we don't seem to down the adds quick enough and are still stacked after swirl with many adds left and more still spawning. At this point puddles are forming, people are scrambling and the wheels fall off as people set their hair on fire.

Granted, the 1st 30 min Tue on this boss was a waste, as I was totally off my game.  We tried having me tank as bear initially to bump our dps with Eddrina as kitty, but I had to learn position/timing while we were also trying to 2 heal it for the 1st time.  I take blame for a lot of wasted time there. After I switched back to healz, we had Raz on his tank to show us how they did it and strat was being modified for another 30 minutes.  The last 2-3 pulls everyone finally had a good idea of what we needed to do when.

When I joined ur grp for Immerseus later that night, the adds went down ridiculously fast and puddles were not an issue like they are for our crew, but then you all can down this H boss in your sleep . . . and you did it basically as a 9 man, because I spent most of my time looking at everyone rather than dps'ing on my fail lock.

I did notice on maybe the 1st or second grp of adds you were all ok with a few adds living as you pushed the boss to transition.  That is something we need to incorporate, because our dps is much lower.  I also think that next Tue people will be more comfortable with their roles and if we do that soft spread mid swirl, that could really help us.

Adding the video from our first time killing him to give a good idea of our time. We were at roughly 1 minute for first split. Due to their computer status we don't have a first kill video from The Implication (pain wasn't streaming at that point) Going by their Parses it looks like the oldest kill they have recorded had the split at 1:15 minutes in to the fight.

As healers kymmu and I have

Painhax — Tue, 03/18/2014 - 08:27

As healers kymmu and I have this down to two healing it so it can end up being fairly simple. With 3 heals just make sure that you all keep yourselves alive and stack immediately after the second pool drops or someone or ones are going to die. Do not mass dispell more than once. We had this issue.

This is what I do. Right before second pool. Dispell myself. Shield myself. Second pool. Stack. Mass dispell. And then stick to single dispells.

And. Kymmu. Dil. I. Were about 90k+ hps when we first started killing immerseues. As for more specific info from a disc priest. Right before the blobs are about to explode when they hit immerseus I shield everyone I can. I also lifegrip a blob and heal it. Really as a healer it isn't too bad just a lot going on and will continue to be the theme with the rest of the bosses in heroic.

on our attempts

badpenny — Tue, 03/18/2014 - 09:13

People were pew pew'ing non-stop and moving to stack together, but it seemed puddles were everywhere including as they stacked, so then they tried to soft spread.  It was a total cluster with the swirl hitting us every single time, except once.  That one time we got to the transition, lol.  So do you try to have people just attack twice and stack or go full bore and mentally you dispel after 2?

Stacking on each other =

Painhax — Tue, 03/18/2014 - 14:54

Stacking on each other = death. Spread out UNTIL you get the second puddle then stack. Then mass dispell. Then single dispell. Then repeat the process when immerseus re emergers.

ahh, yes, we are familiar with the death part

When swirls passes the raid,

Insta — Mon, 03/17/2014 - 21:26

When swirls passes the raid, pop a defensive and run through it and don't forget to use Devo. Never run away from it. When it spawn adds, have a tank gather the adds and nuke them. DPS needs to be careful on boss because you get a debuff that needs to be dispelled. If you guys use weakaura, you should find the string for the debuff. Sometimes you just have to pray to the rng gods that swirl doesnt go through the raid.

Norushen is basically the same as normal, but higher damage. For ret pallies, Long Arm of the Law and Seal of Justice works pretty well when you go down because the adds die faster and Judgment has a short cooldown. The small adds' casts hurt a lot so you may need to interrupt or just go behind it and nuke them.
