Raid : mALT 4/13 - Gruuls Lair / Magtheridon
Raid Zone:
Gruuls Lair / Magtheridon
We had such a great showing last week, let's see if we can do it again, not this sunday...but next!
For those folks who may not need things...Mag especially is a HUGE LOOT PINIATA!!! He's been nerfed and drops 20+ Gold for all 25 ppl!!!!! We one shot him last week and as well as gruul, everyone mad a ton of money and got to raid with some new DF members!
Can we do it again??!! I think we can!!

I'm leaning toward making
Aidin — Wed, 04/09/2008 - 14:39I'm leaning toward making DST the exception to the rule. Giving a Main REGULAR Raider priority. When I say REGULAR...you can't be a wishy washy show up sometimes raider...I mean CORE DEPENDABLE Hamfist/LF1M. (ie: Shihli, Mavandon, Pulga, Derchelon..etc)
I love this guild, and we are a guild first and foremost, and this concept is good for the guild as a whole. Don't think for a single second that these mALT fun runs would happen without the help of the mains that come along for the ride/loot/gold/fun...they are a necessity...without them we wouldn't be rolling over these like clockwork.
Now is your chance to convince me why I shouldn't do this...if you can't come up with a reason...or you haven't bothered to be on the site to keep up with the discussion... YOU CAN'T BITCH AT ME WHEN THIS COMES UP ON SUNDAY!!

I would tattoo that on my ass if I could, Aidin.
I know that if DST dropped
Derchlon — Wed, 04/09/2008 - 14:26I know that if DST dropped for me, I would put Gruul/Mag runs on the back burner for priority(aka no canceling of an RL event), but I still love to go just for the heck of it. Gruul is one of my favorite 25-man bosses if for no other reason than how much I love the Gronn character model.
Mag, I would do regardless. We get more epic gems in the bank, and dish out free 20 slot bags to (eventually) everyone. Toss in the lure of T4 token trade ins for PvP gear(although I would pass to someone in a heartbeat if they need it for PvE content like I did last week), and it makes the trip in there more than worthwhile.
I had alot of fun last week
Jayel — Wed, 04/09/2008 - 13:57I had alot of fun last week doing Maulgar/Gruul! Family and friends are coming over this weekend to see Johanna so wont be able to go this time but hopefully next time I will be able to see Mag.
Since the government changed
Desteran — Wed, 04/09/2008 - 13:54Since the government changed things and we had to patch every puter at work DST will for ever more be Daylight Savings Time for me...a little off topic.
Speaking from my own
Shihli — Wed, 04/09/2008 - 13:48Speaking from my own point-of-view, I'd still be in regular attendance (as regular as I can be, anyway) if I won a DST.
LOL Aidin wins. That is
Gares of War — Wed, 04/09/2008 - 13:41LOL Aidin wins. That is why I thought about the whole alt vs main rolling thing. I feel that most mains would break out once they got the DST.
I won't lie, I would like DST, but it has a great evil aura around it.
gruul's peaked my interest only because it is short and connected to magtheridon there after, or before. I am more concerned with acquiring badges so I don't have to run heroics :D
I certainly would come.
pulga — Wed, 04/09/2008 - 13:38I certainly would come. It's easy badges and fun times. Plus, what else is their to do on a sunday night? (at least it's night here on the east coast)
Here's my question... Let's
Aidin — Wed, 04/09/2008 - 13:34Here's my question...
Let's say we give mains priority on the DST...would you still come to our runs after you win or will you have better things to do????
Don't lie to me cause I'm writing this shit down and I will pwn ur face if you lie....
I've been rocking
garreth — Wed, 04/09/2008 - 13:37I've been rocking Mag/Maulgar/Gruul for badge fun runs since we started these back up ;)
Though I have no need for a DST, would we see our hunters and melee dps come back after they get it?
And, to anyone that hasn't done these runs with us yet: Fun, easy, laid back, many badges, much gold. Such a good time :)
The DST is one of the only
Shihli — Wed, 04/09/2008 - 13:34The DST is one of the only reasons that BT/MH and better guilds continuously run Gruul's Lair - it IS that good.
And Gares, again - Garreth, myself, and any others that have chimed in have NOT said "NO ALTS ROLL!" We've all said that it might be kind and perhaps wise for people in attendance on alts to pass on the DST in the event that it dropped, for mains to possibly acquire.
NO WHERE has anyone said that the rules have changed in a mAlt run. The only person who really makes that determination is Aidin. All we've been saying is, if you come on your 3rd-string new-70 dps alt with crap gear that you only use to farm ... you won't likely get as much use out of that trinket as, say, a 4-time-a-week hardcore main-toon raider.
I say let alts roll.
Gares of War — Wed, 04/09/2008 - 13:21I say let alts roll. Espcially if they have been doing it for a long time. I find it selfish for someone to demand (or at least thinking they demand) loot, but only came to ONE Gruul's and it, by chance, dropped. Yes, they may be on alts, but I am sure alot of people have been trying to run it for god knows how long.
FYI ...Aidin is paying attn
Aidin — Wed, 04/09/2008 - 13:02FYI ...Aidin is paying attn to this discussion, she's just soaking up everyone's opinions..and Yes Shi it does suck to be me...
Heh, welcome to hell Aidin
garreth — Wed, 04/09/2008 - 13:29Heh, welcome to hell Aidin ;)
I may skip this run strictly because of the drama you and I would no doubt have to deal with over this one stupid trinket if, god forbid, it dropped.
Though there's an easy solution: No mains come to this run. If you can't find enough people, PUG the rest. Drama solved.
If the stated mAlt policy is alts are on equal footing with mains, then the mains have been warned. If the mains want a gruul run for a shot at loot, let them get their own Gruul together.
I would hate to have to run a simultaneous or consecuitive Gruul run just for mains and "raid priority" gear, all over a stupid trinket.
No offense to everyone else
Dragon — Wed, 04/09/2008 - 12:49No offense to everyone else in guild but everyone knows mALTs policy on loot and it is said before a Gruul run as well. If you want to have a better shot at DST for your main and not stand the remote possibility that a guildie alt will only look out for themselves. You can lead your own Gruul run or attend a GKP and dish out 2kg.
That being said, I will NOT be rolling on DST as I would rather haeve Zerker's Call, The Expertise Trinket outta H Mr T, Tsunami Talisman or Hourglass of the Unravaller.
And please take no offense to what I said. I jst am pointing out other ways where it is easier to assure a main gets a drop :(

Ultimately, the decision on
Shihli — Wed, 04/09/2008 - 12:38Ultimately, the decision on how to handle the DST during a mAlt run rests on Aidin's shoulders (lol sucks to be you!).
At the same time, people who attend a mAlt raid need to understand that the very real possibility exists for some new-lv. 70, 3rd-tier alt to snag a DST over a long-time 25-man raiding main who's been wanting it for the past year. By signing up and attending a mAlt run, you agree to those terms.
If you lose the roll and get bent out of shape, that's your own fault - you knew the rules.
It was just a thought. If
pulga — Wed, 04/09/2008 - 12:31It was just a thought. If Gruul did drop a DST, and someone who was using their once-a-week/gold farming alt and beats out a raider, be it me or any other, it wouldn't be the best of situation. Raiders, whether they be in ham fist or lf1m, are trying to help the raid progress to further content. If an alt or newly 70 main snags that up from raiders, it wouldn't help progression. I am aware the whole idea of mAlt is that everyone is on equal grounds, but this type of item might just be worth it to bend the rules slightly. As G and shihli were saying, it's an idea, not trying to enforce loot ideas, and if the raid believes that everyone should be able to roll on it, then that's what best. We are in a democracy, after all.

DST would be perfect for my
Ardea — Wed, 04/09/2008 - 11:58DST would be perfect for my rogue! I hear it helps you mine/smelt better. Fish actually jump from the water to be clubbed by it.
I totally would roll on it with my rogue!
=p
For me it depends on the level of loot whine... if there is a lot of whining (or even strong suggestions that alts should pass during a mAlt run) I would roll for it on an alt (if it matched my spec). Otherwise, I love to pass on gear that will help out a main (that is actually not sarcastic).
Luckily I come as a healer and only use my rogue to farm and a rare bg or something...
And again, we're not
Shihli — Wed, 04/09/2008 - 10:52And again, we're not "enforcing our loot ideas" on anyone.
I don't think it's a crime, nor a bad idea, to suggest that some people might want to consider passing on an item if they are on their alt for a main raider to snag. We're not saying that's how it is or how it has to be; merely suggesting that that might be something they should consider is all.
That's what I'm saying, G.
Shihli — Wed, 04/09/2008 - 10:32That's what I'm saying, G. I hope other people think in similar fashion.
This weekend, a mAlt run is
Shihli — Wed, 04/09/2008 - 10:27This weekend, a mAlt run is scheduled. It'd be a bit rude to schedule a "fun run" over the top of Aidin's long-running raid, regardless of people's loot desires.
Yea but at the same time I'm
saedo — Wed, 04/09/2008 - 10:39Yea but at the same time I'm saying ppl shouldn't just try to enforce their own loot ideas to change a long running mALT policy. If ppl pass for mains, good for them.
More or less, yes Saedo.
Shihli — Wed, 04/09/2008 - 10:00More or less, yes Saedo. However I don't think it's a bad idea.
Personally, I'd love to see people have the sense to let mains grab a DST over alts, but that's just my view on the matter. Whether people would do that is up to them.
Heh, how many guildies do we
garreth — Wed, 04/09/2008 - 10:30Heh, how many guildies do we have that would gank a DST for their once-a-week alt over a seven-day-a-week main?
I know this is mAlt! I know i know i know! But... i think people can use their brains and a little common sense to realize that maybe, just maybe, this ONE item is worth the exception.
I think every rogue, dps warrior, ret pally and hunter in both the 25 man raids should be using it :)
Ya it would be better from a
saedo — Wed, 04/09/2008 - 10:26Ya it would be better from a guild progression perspective. But I was just kinda pointing out that mALT doesn't enforce mains only and if ppl really must want that to happen, another unofficial run like last week instead of mALT?
If you can't get me in for
pulga — Wed, 04/09/2008 - 03:50If you can't get me in for Mag, I would like a shot at the DST off of gruul.
Suggestion: Go with what G said last week, and if it drops only mains who are in lf1m/hamfist would get to roll on it. IE: Derch, me, etc.
Doesn't that go against a
saedo — Wed, 04/09/2008 - 09:55Doesn't that go against a founding policy of mALT?
