Yeah, I know, I'm still saving up badges to get those leggings. As well as timbal's crystal out of heroic MgT. Then I should be pretty set.. for the time being.
I took a quick peek at your armory again and saw a few things. First, you're rocking 4/5 Tier 4, and to be quite blunt the 4 piece set bonus is shit, and not worth having. You're also over hit cap.
See what you can do about getting perhaps the spellstrike set or maybe the badge pants.
MMMhm. I would have been there for Gruul's but I guess the time on the site was off by an hour or something. I thought it started right at 5, /shrug I'll be sure to make it positive next time. =)

Lol, this is my thread to talk allll about myself :O.
Anyway, I'm sorry I had to miss the raid on Saturday, 2 things happened. One, a very unexpected family event came up, and two, my wow kind of.. crashed on me. I later restarted it and now it works fine, but it's just been bugging on me a little lately, maybe I should reinstall. I would have gone to the Sunday raid as well, but already had plans in advance.
Maybe a ZA raid could be started this week? Or another Gruul/Mag raid? I can go of course, I mean, I am still trying out... I think.
Adoron, adons and mods are what make the difference between top five and number one, living and dying, and split second saves.
They make the things you need to do less complicated and take less time. I added my UI to this thread with some pretty in-depth explanations if you want to take the time to look through it.
Make sure you follow the link to the Polymorph macro too.
Oh. Yeah, maybe mods wouldn't be so bad after all. I'll look into redoing my UI in the near future definitely. I'm just sick right now with the flu =/.
Simple answer is "as an end game mage, Yes! you want the mods... and macros!" As Shihli said they make life easier.
Example: 25 people spread out around Archimonde and a random 8 of them just got cursed. You have seconds to find the ones in range that are cursed and decurse each one before they go splat. You just cannot do that with the stock UI. (Grid + Mouse over decurse macro)
See that's what I don't get. Really, I do just fine without any of those customized screens or bars or anything of the sort, I've never really had a problem. Maybe trying to click on the skull through a pack of 5, or keeping an eye out for agro, whatever makes stuff easier.
...Yeah no wonder no one ever responded. Sorry if I ever say too much, I just had a lot to say at the moment, and I thought a long and thorough response would be better than a short one to be honest. That's kind of my plague. Longer (more to reflect, therefore better) > Short and to the point. I'll take it down a notch.
Gruul's yesterday, I can't believe that I got like, every drop that matched what I needed. Rolled 100 on the cloak, defaulted the shoulders, and won the leggings. Two pieces o' T4, and a great cloak. =)
Moving on to SSC and TK would be cool now. I should go sign up for the next one.. if possible.
The raid went very well, actually, almost better than I expected. Knowing that ' it's downfall, they know BT ' , I supposed that the raid would run fairly smoothly, but when I learend that I was involved in two LF1M first down's in BT, I was pretty surprised, and glad that I'd came. The people in there were friendly, kind, and focused, and didn't burn out. The pulls ran smoothly, there were rarely any screw-ups, everyone knew what they were doing, almost all sides were addressed in about every situation. It was probably my first 'progressive time' in any 25-man, and I did like this run, a lot.
I understand that if I do get in, I won't immediately acquire a regular position in a raid, but that's just fine, and reasonable. I could use some gear and experience in 10-man's anyway, doing ZA and.. proving myself further (I guess) is completely okay with me. The longer this application takes, well, the more worthwhile it appears to be to me actually. It really advocates how perceptive and selective about your recruitments you are, which you know, leads to the obvious, the successful guild that you are haha.
Yeah, during the raid Shinso and I were never really asked to AoE anything, or at least we never had many opportunites to AoE. I can recall a couple, but personally, I just followed Shinso's example and just frostbolted the lot rather than do otherwise. At the same time, during those AoE pulls, we were instructed to move to mobs one by one. If told to AE/Blizz though, I would have.
Also, I think that I could have dealt a little more dps on the trash mobs, I was a little slow on them, but usually they just drop so fast that sometimes I barely get 3 or 4 bolts off, unless I were to be one of the first to let the dps commence. On Supremus as well, I could have thrown out a lot more damage, but quite unluckily, during our last fight with him I happened to be looking in the opposite direction from the main road (he was on the other side of a catapult, I was throwing ice lances at him), and a volcano spawned probably a foot in front of me and wrecked me. That was probably the only time I ever really 'hit' a volcano, the rest of the times I evaded them successfully.
I did also receive the lowest amount of damage out of the whole raid, =) haha.
Yar, our AOE classes have had it easy with Grov over the past few months. So I asked them to calm it down just a tad sense he wasn't in raid. BUT, they could have aoe'ed after letting us grab some threat. So I do understand where you're coming from.
While there are a few multi-mob pulls, Atar asked that the AoEers take it very easy since we didn't have our Grovinski Pally Goodness. They did single focus as requested by our raid leader.
I looked over the parses from LF1M for last night, and while Adoran's dps is low for a mage venturing into Black Temple, it's right about on par with where his gear is at.
I did have one thing that puzzled me a teeny tiny bit: I saw that neither Shinso nor Adoron used any sort of aoe spell as much as I would have expected. In particular, there are I think about 4 aoe pulls before Supremus, and neither mage cast Blizzard once the whole night, and Adoron only used Arcane Explosion 1 time. Were you guys being careful, or do you not know the power of mage aoe pew pew??
Garreth & others; as a very simple guage for a mages dps, it's generally okay to equate their "best" dps with their +spell dmg. For example, a mage with 1000 +spell dmg should be doing close to 1000 dps. It's not exact, but if you have a mage w/ 1000 doing 600 dps, you have a problem, for example. On the Supremus kill, he did almost 1K dps and that's about what he has in frost gear.
So what do you think? How was raiding with downfall? How do you think you did? Does the atmosphere of the raid (which is mostly reflective of the guild) feel like it's in line with your expectations?
Now, remember that this BT run you came in as a replacement for a core member, so a 100% regular spot is definitely not on the immediate horizon. However, if you're a self-motivated dude and not a complete tool, Downfall has about a dozen 10 man runs throughout the week that you could get very involved in. A lot of applicants balk at that idea, which is why I never invite them. However, more than a few highly active 10-man runners have found themselves in a regular 25 man spot just by getting a reputation of being smart, helpful, talented and highly motivated.
I do apologize for what seems like a long, stupid application process. We are just so full that every new person that comes in MUST bring something to the guild. And, no, I'm not just talking about gear. We need active people, people that love to play and love to help others.
It's no guarantee - if they find a "regular" to take my place, then you may not be able to get an invite. Just be online and have all of your raid mats ready to go. (Flask, dmg food, pots, reagents, etc)
Adoron, I have updated the mage class guide here on the site. Find it HERE. It's not pretty yet, but the content is up-to-date with the current patch.
And, as Aidin said, make note of our raid invite times (namely, 5:30-6pm Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday for our LF1M Raid) and be online at that time if you really truly want a chance to catch a lucky break.
You want to increase your odds of an invite? Be more visable. If you can, be online when raid invites go out. Last night we were short on AOE DPS and actually looked for you. What better way to introduce yourself then trial by fire.
Accomplishing those goals won't give you exceptance per se, we really like to test out our guild apps before sending a G invite. Run some Gruuls/Mag/Karas with us so we can get to know your play style, and see how you operate in a raid environment. Keep in mind, we still have some apps that have been open for a long time.
