WotLK Alpha Rogue Talents
saedo — Fri, 06/13/2008 - 11:11
So here are the leaked talents;
A bit of commenting on em:
Assassination:
- Turn the Tables: PvP talent, suppose it's useful against the warrior/rogue/feral/hunters.
- Hunger for Blood: So it can stack up to 15% if we spend 30 energy every 10 sec on it. Probably worth it completely. Like a another SnD type timer to keep track of as Mutilate, keep that up 100%. And if there's a boss fight that periodically does do magic/bleed debuffs all around this energy cost is free so all the more better.
- Focused Attacks: A combat potency like ability. Doesn't seem as poweful as combat potency itself but it's a good boost for dps here.
- Deadly Brew: Seems more better for pvp, a 2 in 1 poison deal. Not sure if it's enough for Instant->Deadly to beat out straight Deadly though
- Blood Splatter: 20% more to ruptures. Eh, it's decent I suppose. But rupture is only really 3-5% of your damage anyways. So this is at most 1% boost.
- Devious Poisons: More poison damage is decent. And the pvp effect seems interesting too.
- Cut to the Chase: Huh, this could be very very nice. But it kind of relies on the random nature of crits to happen. With Mutilate it'd prob happen enough though.
- Vile Poisons: Points compressed, so good, can spend else where. But looks like the dispel part might be nerfed by 10% cause of it
- Impoved Poison: Doubles in effectiveness. But still kinda filler points as PvE.
- Master Poisoner: Huh, reduces duration of poisons. PvP wise I'd think that'd be bad. PvE wise I suppose it ticks Deadly faster so it would be better dps. Nothing huge I suppose though.
Combat
- Murder Spree: A shadowstep for combat? Seems like a nice CD to use though for more blade flurry type goodness
- Prey on the Weak: Interesting, sounds like it's only white damage and you can prob get it active often in PvE. But it's prob not 100% in a lot of fights.
- Unfair Advantage: Tanking talent really. Or pvp.
- Stay of Execution: So more survivability like a Cheat Death
- Throwing Specialization: So no more need for pvp gloves with this
- Nerves of Steel: Reduces duration instead of resisting now. Meh.
- Blade Twisting: Looks like duration is nerfed in a talent hardly anyone takes
- Riposte: Suppose it's more pvp now with the slow.
Subtlety
- Setup: Tanking/pvp talent changed I guess to be more like Cheat Death
- Cheat Death: I think this is a boost, seems to give you back to 30% of your max hp for duration so you're less likely to die from the next hits?
- Waylay: PvP, I guess to bring back the ambushing clothies move a bit
- Honor Among Thieves: Ha! Instead of giving group synergy this sucks in group synergy. Whenever they do their crits, you get a bit of a boost. lol
- Slaughter from the Shadows: This is a nice boost to the backstab builds. Too bad it means shadowstep backstab since it's down this tree
- Shadow Dance: Now this seems fun. If not fun to do, just fun to watch a rogue appearing and disappearing
- Wrongfully Accused: PvE, probably pointless. Seems op if this affects bosses aoe damage or anything. But for pvp looks great against the AoE'ers, whirlwinders etc.
In in summary. Assassination (Mutilate) got quite a hefty boost. Seems to fall in line with what Blizz said about boosting Dagger builds. Combat got small boosts nothing really worth drooling too much over. Subtlety seems to have gained some new interesting tricks and a boost with backstabbers, but it's still not enough for pve standards.
I'd guess more stuff will be added/tweaked before release. But the current stand seems to be Mutilate wins, 50/20/0 will be the new top pve cookie cutter build.

I know this is an old thread
Barqz — Tue, 07/01/2008 - 08:25I know this is an old thread now, but i wanted to add this link. http://war-tools.darlinganime.com/index.php?i=rogue
its a mock tree to mess with for lvl 80 talent builds. There other class builds up there too so its not just strictly rogues.
This world has got me praying on my knees for 1 peaceful thought in my mind...
Cut to the chase seems
Barqz — Mon, 06/16/2008 - 07:31Cut to the chase seems really nice, Just cast sequence macro coldblood to evic/envenom and there is your crit that can boost your SD. The 50 point combat one seems fun, at least for farming, I don't see how attacking multiple mobs could be useful in CC scenarios though. But ya...GG MUTILATE
Live Every Moment, Seize Everyday
Some really intersting
Ewiges — Sat, 06/14/2008 - 16:51Some really intersting talents there. One I really like is the anti-abolish poison one. I am assuming 2/2 will give 100% chance to put the poison on the healer. That means druids are gonna have a much much harder time vs a rogue. Combat still looks like the PvE tree. The increased white crit damage one is a huge booster.
Well Prey on the Weak is
saedo — Sat, 06/14/2008 - 18:41Well Prey on the Weak is nice. It's a bit like lethality I suppose, at best. Any raid damage you take will probably lower its effectiveness. Figure white damage is at around 65%, maybe a typical 35% crit rate, and a 25% increase on that damage, it's about a 5-6% damage increase if your health is constantly above your target's.
Just a bit disappointed that it's all Combat got in terms of a dps increase. Well that and another CD to pop. But I do expect stuff to change. Back when BC talents got leaked, there was Shadow Strikes, that would've been nice too. lol
Here are the
saedo — Sat, 06/14/2008 - 16:00Here are the talents.
I can upload them to this
saedo — Sat, 06/14/2008 - 13:46I can upload them to this site when I get home.
You'll prob still enter stealth when dotted and stuff. It'll just break whenever the next tick is. But yea only really good if you do multiple ambush/garrote/cheap shots.
Needs more bandwidth, only
Ewiges — Sat, 06/14/2008 - 13:33Needs more bandwidth, only the subs one is up. Shadow dance seems crap so far. If you're within melee range of a target they'll be able to see you anyways. Only good for getting some high yellow attacks off. What if you're dotted?
Great, blinking rogues.
garreth — Fri, 06/13/2008 - 15:54Great, blinking rogues. This is going to be .... awesome...
hah,
Threerick — Fri, 06/13/2008 - 15:51hah, probably!

While it lasts. If people
saedo — Fri, 06/13/2008 - 15:39While it lasts. If people start bitching cause it's so fun for us, bound to be nerfed. lol
yeah 2 hemos pretty much
Threerick — Fri, 06/13/2008 - 15:37yeah 2 hemos pretty much but still sounds fun as hell lol.

That's assuming the set
saedo — Fri, 06/13/2008 - 15:35That's assuming the set bonus stays the same, or you're wearing S3/S4 at level 80.
Hmm, but let's say it is. So your combo spends 110 energy, out of 190 energy available. So I guess 80 to spare. That's um, 2 hemos?
As shadowstep, Cheapshot
Threerick — Fri, 06/13/2008 - 15:20As shadowstep, Cheapshot cost 40 energy, Garrote costs 30 energy, Hemo costs 35 energy, and with 4 set bonus of vengeful you get 10 extra energy.

Well, you have 9 seconds.
saedo — Fri, 06/13/2008 - 13:24Well, you have 9 seconds. So if you start with 100 energy, you'd prob get in 4 ticks only. So 180 energy to work with.
Cheap Shot costs 60 energy, Garrote costs 50 energy. So doing your combo uses up 170 energy in that time span. No energy for anything else unless there's a thistle tea involved or something.
*shrugs i'm just saying,
Threerick — Fri, 06/13/2008 - 13:19*shrugs i'm just saying, can probably get a hit or two of hemo in there.
i can't wait :P

Honor among thieves and
garreth — Fri, 06/13/2008 - 11:31Honor among thieves and shadow dance sound hilarious.
It does. lol Certainly
saedo — Fri, 06/13/2008 - 11:36It does. lol Certainly makes me laugh.
If a shadowstep rogue (god forbid) ever gets into a pve raid it would really need to be in the group that "crits the most" whatever that means for his synergy to work. Very odd reverse synergy kind of thing going. lol But it's really not enough of a boost as a typical G5 setup anyways.
Shadow Dance is gonna be weird cause the action bars will be switching back and forth between the stealth and unstealth. lol
Shadow Dance, Cheap shot
Threerick — Fri, 06/13/2008 - 12:43Shadow Dance, Cheap shot hit hit garrote hit hit cheap shot.

Hmm but that's just white
saedo — Fri, 06/13/2008 - 12:54Hmm but that's just white damage you're dealing right?
If these talents go live as
saedo — Fri, 06/13/2008 - 11:29If these talents go live as is. Yea. Well the speculation that is. Need some in game testing to verify some stuff and determine a bit more of the interactions between the various procs.
Mutilate builds got the 3 huge boosts, 4-5 minor boosts. Combat got 2 decent boosts. The speculation is that this is enough to make Mutilate the top pve dps build.
Murder spree sounds
Threerick — Fri, 06/13/2008 - 11:25Murder spree sounds AWESOME!
Deadly brew seems sorta op... idk about pvp cause i would never want deadly psn on a target but being able to put up 4 different poisins up for a druid to spam abolish.
Where did you get this?

Been leaked on EJ so this is
saedo — Fri, 06/13/2008 - 11:32Been leaked on EJ so this is just the buzz going around.
Murder spree needs to be checked if it counts white damage as part of the attacks, or just yellow, or both. But it does seem like a BF-esque CD for that bit of burst, 5 extra attacks with 2 weapons over 2 mins is not huge in dps. It's useful, like 75ish dps maybe.
So it's now all about
garreth — Fri, 06/13/2008 - 11:21So it's now all about daggers for rogues?
