warion's picture

warion — Sat, 09/27/2008 - 21:04

so today i was on beta and a group a premade pally  and was wondering  why i lose so much mana so fast. And they said it was my spec ,that it was all WRONG!!! all of them said this .i would like to no what u guys think they said i shouldnt go that deep into holy and i should go down into ret like 31 points well anyway this was my spec now to me devine plea is buged it says gives 25% mana back but decrease healing by 50% but when i pop it my heals do nothing so i thinks its buged (??).if it worked properly id be ably to stay up on mana alot faster pop it ever min.

 this is my currnt spec:

http://talent.mmo-champion.com/?paladin=052300500000000000000000000503501523201300531025010311400000000000000000000000

this is what they said to be something like:http://talent.mmo-champion.com/?paladin=550320500230002300030000000503501503001300531003000000000000000000000000000000

ok now they said go that far in the ret tree for judegment of the wise: witch give me and buff .25% mana ever 1 sec after i cast a judgement and 20% mana back return.  so what do u guys think .

garreth reply lol

edit:

i did some ingame messing around with the spec and kinda  liked it .  if i go the 2nd spec (more int the ret tree) i lose about 200 healing, i cant get becon of light, and i cant get a instant holylight proc. but i controll my mana always no matter what i can go down to 100 mana and with in 4 sec i can get full mana agin .its pretty much over powered and i think it might be worth it.

check this out i did i liitle vid of it and how it works take a look

No Warion, Beacon affects

Vulk — Tue, 09/30/2008 - 21:31

No Warion, Beacon affects ALL targets within 40 yards of the beacon person. It affects the whole raid as do most/all auras now. So yes you can raid heal.

Nerf this beta

saedo — Tue, 09/30/2008 - 17:05

Nerf this beta patch:

Judgement of the Wise has been changed to grant you 33% of your base mana instead of 20% of your maximum mana.

So this may have killed the whole using ret tree to regen thing for holy pallies.

But Divine Plea boosted:

Divine Plea changed to : You gain 25% of your total mana over 15 sec (Old - 10 sec), but the amount healed by your spells is reduced by 100%. (Old - 50%)

Fjork — Mon, 09/29/2008 - 06:58

I have an odd question (not in beta), but what is your premade's gear?  I've started to notice a trend in the new aspect of "healing" which basically involves stacking mp5, spirit, and crit chance.

Since the downsides to

Dragon — Mon, 09/29/2008 - 05:20

Since the downsides to Beacon haven't been mentioned yet I thought I'd point them out here as well as other advantages not yet mentioned.

First, beacon of light only heals for the amount actually healed to the target. Which means that if you are raid healing and some pesky druid or shaman snipes a heal of yours with either a chain heal or a HoT and your heal last for 3 (not likely be I'm exaggerating to make a point) then you will only heal your MT for 3. I.E. beacon does not heal for the amount that was over healed.

That being said, there is one thing that is being overlooked in regardes to BoL and thats 2v2 and really 3v3 arenas (where you are more likely to only run 1 healer). In 2v2 this heal allows you to have a (albeit dispellable) Binding heal ALL the time so your warrior buddy can get healed while you heal yourself.

In 3v3 this is even more prevalent as split dps is more likely to occur.

Finally, Blizzard has come out and stated that they aren't really thrilled with the current holy spec only being the "Shockadin" spec in pve so I would expect this to be moved.

Not saying that 37/0/34 ain't good but if nothing else I wouldn't expect it to stay around because it is TOO good for holy. Unfortunately this means it will just be moved farther down the ret tree as ret requires a lot fewer mana burns/viper stings/mana drains too be oom, and becoming oom is quite possible in heated battle.

Oh and as of at least last night, an absorbed judgement returns 0 mana and does not give replenishment. Just some food for thought.

classes are all overpowered."

One more thing the beacon

saedo — Sun, 09/28/2008 - 23:35

One more thing the beacon does, it counts your beacon target too. So if you heal the beacon, bam! 2 heals in one!!!

I know what you are talking

Vulk — Sun, 09/28/2008 - 22:11

I know what you are talking about, I watched the video. But the Holy/JotW spec has some serious flaws for PvE. You miss out on a lot of the almost necessary holy spells.

.
What you gain that is beneficial to your raid job:

3/3 Sanctified Seals
- Not bad, an extra 3% crit is prety nice. Unfortunately this can also be picked up with a beacon spec. so i guess its not really unique to this spec.

3/3 Judgments of the Wise
-This is a prety powerful spell that has high mana return. Also has the added benefit of helping out while questing and pvping. However, this limits your mobility range to within 10 yards of the boss. All encounters many not allow that. More later.

Over all you spend an additional 15-18 points to get JotW While only 3-6 of those points actually benefit your raid job (Depending on if your Beacon spec includes Sanctified Seals or not). Do the extra points and missed talents in the holy tree really justify the gain of JotW? To decide we have to look at the big picture so lets look at what you miss:

5/5 Holy Guidance
- Instead of 20% int->spell power you get only 12% because you can only put three points into it if you get JotW. Extrapolated from what you said this equates to approximately 200 healing. That's a decent amount of healing lost.

2/2 Infusion of light
-Missing out on an instant cast Holy Light, That seems to be a big loss. That's basically a druid's swiftmend for paladins that can save a tanks ass if LoH is down.

1/1 Divine Illumination
-An amazing spell that helps immensely with mana issues. 50% spell cost for 15 seconds is noting to turn your nose away at. You can either pop it ever time its off CD or save it for parts of fights where you need to do tons of huge heals.

2/2 Enlightened Judgments
-Extend your judgment range to 30 yards giving you more freedom to move when and where you need to. Missing this severely limits your mobility range (within 10 yards of the boss without this spell). Many bosses may not allow you to stand within that range the whole fight. Also, now judgments will be tied into a holy paladins cycle because ret paladins no longer have the ability to refresh all judgments. Again limited to 10 yards is a big crutch for anything that requires you to move.

5/5 Judgments of the Pure
-Having your judgments add 10% spell haste, yes please! 10% haste is huge! Again nothing to shy away from.

1/1 Beacon of Light
-WHAT MISS THIS... HELL NO!!!! This is arguably the best new spell in the holy paladin's arsenal. This spell is simply fantastic! The tooltip reads: The target becomes a Beacon of Light to all targets within a 40 yard radius. Any heals you cast on those targets will also heal the Beacon for 100% of the amount healed. Only one target can be the Beacon of Light at a time. Lasts 1 min.

The most glorious thing about this is that you can make the MT the beacon. Thus allowing you to raid heal WHILE healing the MT, but wait it gets better. Lets say you crit heal Mr. Emoroguestandsinfire for a 13k heal.... well that means it will heal the tank for just as much... BUT THAT CAN CRIT TO!!! All of a sudden your heal can land on the tank for 20k+

.
In the end I don't think that the 8 almost completely wasted talent points needed to get to JotW is worth it. You just simply miss too much from the holy tree to justify going that deep into ret. As I said earlier mana shouldn't be an issue once you factor in that Divine Plea will be fixed, being in a raid will add quite a bit to mana regen, and the utilization of Divine Illumination will help as well -- Why miss all the goodies deep in the holy tree for something that won't be necessary in a raid.

warion — Sun, 09/28/2008 - 19:25

i dont think that with the new spec in ret tree can be considered soly pvp cause basicly in that tree you dont need to go down to divine ilumination because with that spec the cost of ur spell dont mean a thing.

Now for raiding u can live without beacon, cause ur still be casting holy light non stop wicth u can keep up a mt on illdain fight by your self  in wrath and never run out of mana ever!!! same thing goes for FoL. beacon works like this ,u cast it on a person and if u heal some one in there group the person u casted it on gets the heals also , so it lets u heal 2 peopel at same time max iv used the spec in a raid environment in wrath and is totaly usefull. if u went twards this way of specing it would be powerfulls heals non stop and u can do them the whole fight it would be like healing before wrath but at a much higher and way stronger way

Oh dear god, SO HARD TO

Vulk — Sun, 09/28/2008 - 16:12

Oh dear god, SO HARD TO READ!!!!!
...comments to follow once I can translate it to English.

Translation: (for links use above links)
So today I was in a group on beta with a premade paladin. I was wondering why I was going oom so fast. They said my spec was all wrong and that was the cause of my mana issues. They told me to sepc like this: (See second link).

I would like to know what you guys think. They told me I should go 31 points into ret and that I shouldn't go too deep in holy. This was my spec before: (See first link)

Right now Divine Plea is bugged. It says it should restore 25% of my mana and decrease healing by 50% until its duration finishes. Right now, however, when I pop it my heals don't heal at all! If it worked properly I would be able to manage my mana by popping it every minute.

My current spec: (link1)

Their spec: (link2)

As I mentioned earlier they told me to go farther down the ret tree in order to pick up Judgments of the Wise (Your Judgement spells have a 100% chance to grant the Replenishment effect to up to 10 party or raid members mana regeneration equal to 0.25% of their maximum mana per second, and to immediately grant you 20% of your maximum mana.) What do you guys think about going this deep into retribution to pick up this tallent?

Garreth please reply lol.

Edit: I did some in-game testing with this new spec my peers recommended and I kinda like it. Going deeper down into the retribution tree I lose about 200 healing, Beacon of Light and the instant Holy Light proc off of a Holy Shock crit. On the up side I get a lot more control over my mana by gaining the ability to regenerate a full mana bar in just a few seconds. I think it might be worth it!

Check out this short video I made abotu this spec and how it works:
(link 3)

MY COMMENTS:
Form what I can see this new spec is more of a Healadin/Shockadin PvP super hybrid spec lol. In my opinion the holy/JotW spec only has a place in pvp, maybe. If it were for pvp I would defiantly pick up the instant cast holy light talent instead of 3 into holy guidance as well as a couple other changes.

For raiding you would most likely want to pick up beacon and divine Illumination. If you utilize Divine Illumination every time its up, Divine Plea once the fixed and the various types of mana regeneration you will get from many classes in a raid (Spriest, Survival Hunter, and Retadin are the ones that come to mind) you shouldn't have much mana problems at all.
