Running WIndows 7 on my 5 year old computer
pulga — Fri, 07/03/2009 - 18:48
I figured it was worth a shot since my laptop can't handle 25 mans.
Here is what I came up with so far
10 man VoA
Laptop: 15 fps, Old Desktop on W7: 35 fps
Dalaran in prime game hours
Laptop:7 fps Desktop: 15 fps
I haven't ran a 25 man yet, but I'm guessing I should get at least 15 fps, which would actually make me raidable again. I'll update this once I actually get into some 25 man.

Oh I didnt realize it meant
pulga — Tue, 07/07/2009 - 11:43Oh I didnt realize it meant just the game itself, thought it took away UI too. In that case, I wouldn't mind having that run during raid.
Aight, I'll do just that
pulga — Tue, 07/07/2009 - 11:23Aight, I'll do just that during raid. But outside of raid, I'll keep my settings up a little. And I actually tend to use the bottom of my screen. I'm weird like that.
You're using the bottom of
Shihli — Tue, 07/07/2009 - 11:27You're using the bottom of your screen for buttons, FuBar, chat logs, and Violation.
Anything you could "see" would be obscured by those.
Use Aperture or a viewport adjuster.
Rock on. Glad to see you
garreth — Tue, 07/07/2009 - 11:25Rock on. Glad to see you above single digit FPS!
The way I have it set now,
pulga — Tue, 07/07/2009 - 06:03The way I have it set now, I've seen my framerate get as high as 55 fps, so as of now I'm satisfied.
This has nothing to do with
garreth — Tue, 07/07/2009 - 08:13This has nothing to do with satisfaction! We're giving you tips for in raid performance. The higher the framerate the better you perform. Give a viewport addon a shot, since 90% of WoW users don't actually use the bottom quarter of their screen and you'll actually see a performance jump. Drop all those settings down during raid since you don't need to see across the intance or see all the pretties when you're hitting a bosses junk for 10 minutes.
Hey, didn't you post here
saedo — Tue, 07/07/2009 - 10:25Hey, didn't you post here /node/6226 that you saw no change in frame rates?
Using the macro. But when I

For some reason WoW changed
pulga — Mon, 07/06/2009 - 17:34For some reason WoW changed to 800x600. I don't run it at that. 1024X768 is what I normally run at.

You can also set your bit
starstalker — Mon, 07/06/2009 - 21:19You can also set your bit depth to 16bit. Depending on the graphics chipset, you could see an improvement there. You'll also have a slight loss in video quality (color banding), but if you're disabling vsync, you probably don't care much about quality anyways.
Also, turn weather as low as it will go. Its 100% fluff.
Turn off Vertical Synch and
garreth — Mon, 07/06/2009 - 17:54Turn off Vertical Synch and windowed mode. If you're gasping for FPS do NOT run Windowed mode. Ever.
Change the following settings:
These will improve your raid frame rate quite significantly.
I don't know where
pulga — Mon, 07/06/2009 - 17:01I don't know where screenshots go in windows 7. I'm currently running at lower settings because I don't care too much how the game looks on my old monitor. Also, I never posted a pic on the site before, where do you upload pics to, or do i have to use an outside source to link to?
Screenshot both your video
garreth — Mon, 07/06/2009 - 16:40Screenshot both your video settings screens (resolution and effects) and post them here.
After running a 25 man sarth
pulga — Mon, 07/06/2009 - 15:06After running a 25 man sarth today, I was rocking an average of 18 fps, dipping to 15 and peaking at 20 while in combat. I'm confident that these numbers would translate to most other bosses.
Make sure you have shadows
Ewiges — Sat, 07/04/2009 - 14:35Make sure you have shadows turned off. They take more resources than any other graphics option.
