Saja — Fri, 08/21/2009 - 16:19I liked the movie a lot. I got into the emotional side of it with that little alien guy, and how the main character felt for his wife.
The filming however, made me a bit queazey with all the moving around.
I want spoilers!
Vitriola — Fri, 08/21/2009 - 07:13I saw this movie last night and it is very well made! I like when special effects are breathtaking and still not about the effects themselves but are brilliant enough to make us forget that they are effects and make us think that we are just watching cool stuff. My wife was from Johannesburg. I missed that accent.
I think that we should have a thread where spoilers can be openly discussed. There are things that I want to say about points in the film that cannot be said in here. Dang but courtesy can be a party pooper! (Yes, pulga, I said poop!)
Rotten Tomatoes gave it a
KeithC19 — Wed, 08/19/2009 - 21:26Rotten Tomatoes gave it a 93%. My personal rating was a low to mid 80 because of the main actor having very little experience in movies, and he direction of unlikly events. Overall I enjoyed the movie.
I agree with the mid 80's
starstalker — Wed, 08/19/2009 - 23:38I agree with the mid 80's score, but mostly because of how it was done.
If you look at his shorts, they all follow the same cinematography. Wide angle, then zoom in quickly on the subject, make him off center. Cut to another scene, fuzzy focus, wide angle of the area, then back to a wide angle of the subject, zoom in, go blurry, cut and go back to a wide angle of the scene. Its like that for the first 20 minutes, very annoying.
The main actor's inexperience
Shihli — Wed, 08/19/2009 - 22:07The main actor's inexperience as an actor is what sells him for me. His reactions strike me as very believeable - I can't imagine acting in much a different manner.
As for the unlikely series of events ... ehh I kind of agree with you. At the same time the whole premise of the movie is unlikely so it works well enough within the scope of the film.
I agree with Shihli. I also
Gares of War — Thu, 08/20/2009 - 10:08I agree with Shihli. I also believe it should be in the mid 80s. I felt that it was good, but was missing some essential to make it amazing.
Loved it.
Roronek — Wed, 08/19/2009 - 16:45I thought it was one of the best sci-fi movies I have ever seen, and not for the action or aliens, but the social commentary.
It are go good with pizza
Foresight — Wed, 08/19/2009 - 04:20I loved the Halo movie.....I mean District 9...my bad....I will go now.....**slides under desk**

garreth — Tue, 08/18/2009 - 16:52I still can't tell if District 9 is truly that amazing, or if we've just been served such a raft of shit at the theater for so long that we forgot what good cinema really is.
There's a little bit of something for everyone in here.
I think its both.. It also
Agoney — Wed, 08/19/2009 - 08:42I think its both.. It also showed you don't need a huge budget to make a good movie.. I liked the movie a lot, but I would of changed the ending a little. Not that it ended bad or weakly, just something my non professional movie making self would of done diff.
Excuse me!
Foresight — Wed, 08/19/2009 - 04:30I beg your pardon, Sir Elton Garreth of the land of Downfall!!
But Hannah Montana Movie was not a "raft of shit". That movie truly had character and depth. And the plot!...Movie of the year IMO! I would be upset if this art didn't win movie of the ahahahahahaha..its to hard to keep a straight face while typing this...hahahaha
Didn't at the end of Hanna
Ardea — Thu, 08/20/2009 - 05:40Didn't at the end of Hanna Montana, her friends wanted her to be someone she's not and didn't want to be... and didn't she cave in to peer pressure?
=p
It was a funny movie.
