Idealistic Rant

Time for some philosophical, idealistic nonsense:
As I have watched guild chat and the guild website I have seen some interesting trends. I hadn’t noticed anything until I had an odd conversation a couple weeks ago about group communications, norms, and rights – and to some extent responsibility. A group is often defined as 3 or more people with common beliefs and/or goals. Our guild is unlikely to share common beliefs on everything (esp. RL), but as far as WoW is concerned you can certainly find some commonality in both belief and goal. There are, of course several sub-groups within the guild that have different goals regarding their drive to excel in PvP, end game PvE, or simply social game play at any level; however, it seems that the thing that ties these groups of different aspirations together into a guild may be some common beliefs of what a guild should be and how a guild should act. One thing that strongly suggests this is the fact that all wow players are generally pursuing one very few goals. If this were the only factor in determining guild membership, then there would only need to be roughly 3-4 guilds on every server; a PvP guild, a PvE guild, etc.
So what do we, as members of Downfall, believe a guild should be? This isn’t a question I expect or want to hear answered person by person, but rather a rhetorical question intended to get you thinking about what you get out of your guild . . . as well what you put back into it. I think that some things have been made abundantly clear in the past: Downfall does not exist for the purpose of getting gear for our members. Downfall does not exist for the purpose of being better than every other guild in terms of prowess in end game or PvP.
OK, so I said...

OK, so I said three level 70s are enough...
Well I found something today that made me at least temporarily gitty to try out.

Blog: Adventures in dual boxing... eh, sounds fun and I want to see what I can do.
A little history:
Some friends got me into playing World of Warcraft about 3 months before BC came out and refused to tell me what server they played on until they were sure I wasn’t a n00b (their guild had Naxx and AQ40 on DE farm)… they have yet to receive confirmation, but after a bit they told me that they were on Gorgonnash. So I abandoned my hunter at level 25 and created Lepp (stands for Leper… no, I had never seen the leper gnomes in game before Lepp hit 12). Before Lepp hit 60 and able to raid with my friends they transferred all of their characters to a PvE server. Since I hate the idea of not being able to remove my character to any server I want I stayed on Gorgonnash.
To be able to play with my friends I decided to level another character on their new server. Then I thought since I was leveling one character why not use Spek’s account and level two (one for the both of us).
I choose two Druids since I had already leveled Ardea to level 29 (PvP twink) and that would give us a wide range of possible combinations while having the same spells and leveling combat mechanics. For the record Spek thinks I have horrible taste in female Night Elves so I made her select the Elvin features.

So today I hit 44 and decided to start doing the tanaris quests so that I could start on the noggenfrogger stuff at 46. I was minding my own business when this gnome warlock sees me grinding. he stands there for half a minute, then I see these lashes of pain start to hit me and I'm feared. great. I know I'm not going to get to him before he fears me again, so I kite my mob away, kill it and run. Yes, very brave. He follows, we get into it and I kill his pet before he kills me. (nothing pisses off a lock more than to have their pet owned) now the gy is right around the bend so I run up, res and immediately own his petless drinking ass. he pops his soulstone, we get into it again and this time my cd's are all out and he kills me. I res quickly and kill him again. he apparently decides he's had enough and I go back to collecting very fashionable pirate hats. spin forward an hour. I'm halfway to 45, have just returned to Tanaris after delivering Stolies shipment, and who apparenlty sees me while I'm grinding wastewander pouches? that's right, douchey mcchip on his shoulder. I'm seeing him ride his mount toward me thinking "no way, that's not the same lock"...I go back to trying to kill the mob that's down to 1/4 health and me at 1/2 health and no mana. yay ganking. he kills me. I run up, attempt to kill him and am immediately owned again. I res a third time, kill him and he pops his ss and kills me. but not before he's aggro'd some other horde that were wandering by. they kill him, we both run back to our respective bodies and res. I fuck his day up like it was a cheap whore. Welcome to making epat angry that you've wasted his leveling time. He res's three times, I kill him three times. He res's and tries to get away on his mount, I follow (PoJ ftw) and watch him get dazed by mobs. three gankings later i log and make this post.
