Rogues are Easy
saedo — Wed, 04/02/2008 - 12:59
Heh so I was on vent that night but I ain't as quick witted to respond. lol But this topic's been on the back of my mind so I'll just blurt stuff out here.
Rogues are easy. Easiest dps class imo, which is part of the reason why rogues can top damage most of the time. Most only really have to pay attention to 3-5 timers, 3-5 buttons to mash. And I've raided in every raid spec there is cept for maces. Don't have to care about mana, cast times, swing timers, rage starvation, shot clipping, pets, buffing, other ppl's health bars, etc. In the most dire of situations where ppl are out of "gas", rogues can still dps (barring the get the fuck out of there situations). We are an unlimited source of dps.
But getting the most dps out of a rogue is another matter. Why are the top dps rogues in top guilds? Why can bad healers stick with top guilds? Because of natural selection. There's a fuck ton of rogues out there. If you can't strive to the top, then look, there's another one right around the corner. Bad healer? Replace him? Well typical follow up question, where do you find another? Guilds will tend to work most strats around what healers (and tanks) are capable of, not what dps does.
How to Fix Hamfist Raiding
Shihli — Tue, 04/01/2008 - 11:21
This is something I've been thinking about a lot lately, Garreth -
I don't think adding more days to the raiding calendar is going to help, not in the way one might think anyway. Instead of adding more days, we need to begin asking for more from our raiders.
Hear me out.
We have it set up so that under ideal circumstances, everyone is in raid and at BT at 7pm *sharp* for first pulls. Invites start going out at 6:30. However, many nights invites aren't out until 6:40 and people start getting la-dee-da on us, asking us to wait for them to finish dailies, they need something crafted, etc etc. While this is all well and good, it delays the start of the raid even further than normal. Eventually enough people trickle in to raid at 7:30 for us to actually START raid - now a half our late.
Once we do start raiding, people aren't paying attention during trash or on "easy" boss fights (Supremus, for example) and so they die in silly ways that end up costing us MORE time. Then a number of people have to go afk because of god-knows-what (for the record, going afk to vomit or what not is totally fine). THEN someone d/c's and we have to wait for them (even if just for trash).
In short, we've gotten really relaxed. Which is fine, from the standpoint that a lot of us just got off work and would rather be chill and groovy than uptight. However, from the standpoint of wanting to kill bosses and *progress*, this isn't working.
What I propose is this:
1) When we say invites go out at 6:30, they go out at 6:30. Finish your dailies before raid starts, or after raid is done. Get your pots/stuff made before raid starts, or after it is done. Don't ask the raid to wait for your health pots.
2) When we say pulls start at 7:00, they start at 7:00. We won't wait for you. If you missed your summon, too bad - get here faster.
Fingerstyle Guitar
Vulk — Tue, 04/01/2008 - 11:07
I've finally thought of something i can post in my blog, one of my guilty pleasures in music. Fingerstyle Guitar. Most of you have watched my Vids and have heard some of the common types of music I listen to, and its normal music for any 18 year old to listen to. But my all time favorite is listening to Fingerstyle Guitarists play.
I listen to this music at least 50% of the time. Just to name a few I listen to Antoine Dufour (my all time favorite), Andy McKee and Don Ross. These guys have skill that is incomprehensible. Sometimes I could swear there is at least two to three people playing at once yet it is just the one guy who is one with his guitar!
So you can all her some compositions from these guys here are some videos from YouTube.
Andy Mckee - Drifting
Don Ross - Loaded, Leather, Moonroof
And the best for last! Antoine Dufour - Development
