I'm on a little holiday from real life for the moment
jaibyrd — Wed, 07/01/2009 - 19:40
Hi all. Not sure you remember me. I am one of those healer priests that has been floating around for awhile. I won't be back for awhile. Apparently my life has taken me out of WOW for now. Garreth knows details if a raid leader needs to know but basically I need to spend more time with my family. Gotta keep the marriage happening. Needs attention. When that is solid again I'll be back to heal your asses off :-)
It won't be more than a month or two more.
WarCraft Adventures: Lord of the Clans
Ewiges — Mon, 06/29/2009 - 22:13
(Taken from my post to Blizzard)
Coming Winter '97
Going through my old Orcs and Humans box and wishing the CDs didn't disappear.
By the way, looking at the concept art for that game... probably a good idea it never got produced.
"Raised by humans and forced into a life of brutish slavery, one Orc stands as the last symbol of honor for the Horde. As Thrall, you must unite the clans and lead your people onto the field of battle. In this pivotal next chapter of the epic struggle between Orcs and Humans, an all new dimension of the world of WarCraft is revealed"
Seems you saved this story for WarCraft III. (This was to release after Beyond the Dark Portall right?)
"Immersive Gameplay: Dark intrigue and biting humor intertwine as you come face-to-face with over 70 WarCraft character."
"Rich Fantasy Artwork: 60 detailed locations set within the Kingdom of Azeroth"
"Powerhouse Voices: An all-star cast featuring the classic voices of Clancy Brown, Peter Cullen, and Tony Jay"
"Intricate, Hand-Crafted Animation: Over 40,000 frames of feature-film animation from over 100 master animators"
Chronicles of Tuque - Holy/Prot Healing
saedo — Mon, 06/29/2009 - 13:46
So I kinda rarely play this alt now, but do manage to find some time to brush the dust off it.
I got to do a pug Naxx25. It was fairly interesting experience. Sure it was lolNaxx, and failpug, and I probably only suck just a bit less than the others. But I can add a notch under my belt, solo healing Gothik live side. Well, 3 people died to that (i blame fail dps not waiting on tanks), and I wasn't soloing on purpose, afk healers and fail to give live side more.
Anyways, here's the data:
- Armory: http://www.armory-light.com/us/Gorgonnash/Tuque/
- Spec: http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#sxA0gM0sVu0tgdxGzubZc:bdizcV
- Day 1 Parses: http://wowwebstats.com/zwjokevpiaggc
- Day 2 Parses: http://wowwebstats.com/46ztrvitckpjg
Check em and gimme thoughts if you want.
Style:
The whole point of this spec is to forgo Holy Light (for the most part), and concentrate on Holy Shock, Flash of Light, and Sacred Shield. Well, and keep Beacon up on someone.
With Sacred Shield, my shitty gear absorbs about 2.2K damage every 6 seconds. Which also procs a 12 second duration for increasing Flash of Light crit by 50%.
So the whole time you'd be trying to spam FoL on your main heal target. And either use Holy Shock to help raid heal or increase throughput on your target. With good crit, you can get like 18K heals in 2 GCDs, about as good/fast as Holy Light. And if you get into a good crit rhythm, with some haste, and maybe heroism, you can wind up a bit GCD locked. Clique is extremely useful I think due to all the instants you can wind up doing.
Judgements are almost useless. Well, unless you want to get it up for the raid if no Holy/Ret pally's already doing it. FoL being an already fast cast, the extra haste doesn't do much. A 1.2 sec cast turning into a 1.1 sec cast isn't especially helpful most of the time. And the fact that I'd be trying to crit Holy Shock a lot to turn that FoL instant.
Mana was not an issue. Unless forced to used Holy Light a fair amount. Otherwise never really dip below 70% mana too often.
There are certain fights I would choose to use Holy Light more exclusively though.
- Loatheb, can only heal every 20 sec or so. Queue up a big heal and let it splash around.
- Gluth, after decimate, can quickly get chunks of people back up faster
- Razuvious, well it's more to try to top off the low health mobs. And shield doesn't work on them.
- Sapphiron, during ice blocks, there are clumps of people to splash it on.
Glyphs:
The 3 glyphs I went with were Seal of Light, Holy Light, Flash of Light, and my reasoning:
- Seal of Light: With intensive FoL spams, mana is no issue. But instead, throughput is. These heals are fast but smaller, so best to try to get em to hit harder.
- Holy Light: For that inevitable Holy Light you must cast when the raid is taking some big damage, and you can exploit the clump of melee
- Flash of Light: Wanted it to crit as much as possible, a non-crit is weak. Yea with Sacred Shield it should've crit 50% more, but I don't think that's a large enough window to ramp up crit too much. Take my Patchwerk shot: http://wowwebstats.com/zwjokevpiaggc?s=449432-489425&a=x400000001da325d It was a fight where I got to MT spam, and only managed 47% crit rate on FoL.
Other possible glyphs and why I didn't choose em:
- Beacon of Light: Increasing duration would allow me to cast it less, but right now it's sync'd 60 seconds with my shield so it's easier to remember to put them both up. Personal preference really.
- Divinity: I suppose this would be like an extra pot in a fight. But I can't use it much in a fight, and not that I needed mana.
- Holy Shock: This is only really useful if you use it on the CD every CD. Which I just don't/can't.
- Seal of Wisdom: Reasons are more with Seal of Light, just don't need mana
Gearing:
Well here's my initial brief thoughts on the stats to look for.
- Intellect: This is likely still top stat, though diminished in value. Mana pool and regen is not as huge anymore. But still like it for the crit and spell power.
- Crit Rating: This goes up in value to get crit chains going. The better your crit, the harder FoL hits to make up for lack of HoL, and the more instant FoL you can cast through HS crits for more throughput
- Spell Power: This goes up in value, it will make your shield absorb more, and give you more power to your weak fast heals.
- Haste: This goes down in value, dealing with near GCD locking heals haste won't help much.
- MP5: Proabably goes down as well. Your regen will mostly come from Illumination crits, and with the cheap FoL casts, mana usually never an issue.
Anyways, that's all I got for now. Thoughts?
Need some Laptop help.
Allikat — Sat, 06/27/2009 - 22:28
So my "little" cousin starts highschool in the fall and her family is looking into getting her a laptop. Any suggestions on type, specs or programs that would help a highschool student and possibly live to get her through college?(although in four years I'm pretty sure that they will want to get a newer lappy for when she ships off to college)
Thanks guys (and gals)
...I feel old now...I remember when she was like 5 months old....
Roller Coaster Tycoon 3
Ewiges — Mon, 06/22/2009 - 22:12
So to pass the time lately I've been playing Roller Coaster Tycoon 3. I didn't play 2, and I had the very original when it came out. Regardless I do say its an addicting game.
Since I'm a realism freak, I first started comparing coasters to real life coasters. Surprisingly, the game can mimic a lot of real life coasters. I created a freefall coaster like Superman Escape at six flags magic mountain. I set the distance, height, and take off speed to the real coaster (http://www.sixflags.com/magicMountain/rides/SupermanTheEscape.aspx) and it surprising mimic'd the coaster. I then created a reverse chain lift coaster that mimic'd Boomerang at Knotts Berry farm. Though the limitations of the game wouldn't let me do it exact, it came out pretty close. (http://www.coastergrotto.com/coaster.jsp?argId=103).
The difference. The difference is the rider's reaction. The game rates your coasters, among other things,on a 0-10 scale of excitement, intensity, and nuasea. Creating real life coasters will get up to 8 excitement rating. To get above that you must go beyond the reality of what is possible in real life. Some of my coasters I have to tune down to keep them realistic. This means removing 80 mph loops, 150 mph turns, and prolonged high G forces. Adding in breaks and block breaks where appropriate makes the ride funner, more realistic, but worse in game stats.
One of the problems I encountered building in-game coasters is realistic speeds seem slow and G forces are hard to keep realistic. The traditional standards for G forces is that you can not exceed 6g for more than 1 second. So I am able to keep true to these rules, but it is more challengling then just completing the game scenerios.
In conclusion the challenge for me in the game is not getting an excitement rating in the 9s, but creating realistic rides that would be fun and safe to ride in real life.
I have started to fraps some of my coasters and uploaded my first youtube video here.
