Tk/SSC runs
Morica — Fri, 04/25/2008 - 08:19
With the change to LF1M schedule I would like to start putting together a quick Saturday TK/SSC run. With the goal of downing particial bosses for quick loot. I really don’t feel like doing a mAlt type thing, I’d rather
just see LF1M and Hamfist mains that still need the gear so these can be quick
smash and grab type runs. If you would like to see something like this just post if we get enough interest I'll post a event.

The only way I can get
Dufe — Sat, 04/26/2008 - 12:13The only way I can get behind a call system being significantly different from a simple /roll system is if you're limited on the number of calls you can make per run, say 2 calls. Didn't call it? You don't roll - unless nobody called it. This would help keep loot distribution more even, in lieu of a point system. If you can call all the items you want, or even 1 per boss, this is basically just a penalty for those not on the site. While I can agree that its mroe or less fair to do this, the problem is that it holds no provision for the evening out of loot distribution - e.g. someone could hypothetically walk out of the instance with a peice of loot off of every boss, while 20 other people got the total shaft. Now, if nobody cares about this, that's fine, but I don't want to see alot of QQ later if something like that were to happen.
Since it's set in stone that alts can't win over mains, I would see it being more effective to have alts call items as well. They just can't roll on anything that was also called by a main. The reason I see this being more effective is that there are bound to be a fair number of loot drops that none of the mains need, and the system needs to cover these in the same manner for alts, imo. Best way to keep it fair.
I'd love to heal for either
Septima — Fri, 04/25/2008 - 17:51I'd love to heal for either at least once. I've never downed Kael, and I'd like my ring/title. Gear would be a plus, but I don't really "need" it. If anything, Id say t5 helm since I still have t4.
Awesome all the feedback we
Morica — Fri, 04/25/2008 - 14:29Awesome all the feedback we are getting on this. I'm like the idea of a call system, I'd like to spend a little bit of time thinking about it. But keep your eyes peeled for more TK/SSC Smash N' Grab events. They will be on Saturdays and depending on interest may end up once a month things or maybe every few weeks. Also I'd like to get with some of the raid officers/leaders to find out what I need to be looking for in raid composition, last time I put together a raid it was herding 40 cats into a flameing cave...
Since there are no more 25
garreth — Fri, 04/25/2008 - 15:05Since there are no more 25 man raids scheduled on Saturday, let's really try to make these Saturday events. We definitely have the people online to do them Saturday nights.
One thing might worth
Vulk — Fri, 04/25/2008 - 13:38One thing might worth mentioning is maybe the ability to call 2 items but only come out with 1 at the end. I'm sure there are people with more than one thing on their mind that they would want. Lets say though that item #1 drops and I get it. Awesome but its only fair that I be taken off the call list for item #2 and let the others who would like it to have a better shot at it. But say Item #1 doesn't drop and item #2 does at least I still have a shot at coming out with an upgrade!
Another plus to this is say item #2 is off Vashj or Kael and item #1 is off of an earlier boss like A'lar or Lurker. For whatever reason we don't down Vashj or Kael be it running out of time or everyone is having an off-day at least the person had a shot at getting an upgrade earlier on in the instance.

On the subject of the
Derchlon — Fri, 04/25/2008 - 13:12On the subject of the Phoenix, so long as it isn't taken from anykind of point pool, I don't care who gets it. Whether Garreth gets it right away, or its /roll, I just don't want people saying "all I want is the phoenix mount so I call that," or simply saving up in a point pool (NRP or whatever) because there is nothing else they would want.
Note: I think mounts should NEVER be rolled for from NRP, but thats just my standpoint.
I'm torn. I really like
Derchlon — Fri, 04/25/2008 - 13:07I'm torn. I really like the idea of using FuriousRaid, but it really does imply that you must do it regularly to have a shot at anything past the first night. Didn't make it the first night? odds are you won't get anything the next night. The call system makes sense too, but if you're allowed to call 1 item per boss, then we'd still basically just have /rolls on everything. There really aren't many bosses that drop more than 1 item that people need, aside from Vashj, and maybe Kael.
If WoWhead is correct Shihli
Dragon — Fri, 04/25/2008 - 12:42If WoWhead is correct Shihli that it gives 310% flight speed it is TIED for fastest mount in the game.
The Gladiator Dragons also move at 310%
Or they were supposed to.
What i meant though is that a random person couldn't just call the phoenix

We could allow 1 call per
Dikymo — Fri, 04/25/2008 - 12:37We could allow 1 call per boss. However if we do that we should probably add a provision. Once you win a called loot roll you should not be allowed to roll against main who hasnt won anything that run on a 2nd piece of loot. This will avoid loot whoring and still give you a shot at multiple drops in 1 run.

If the phoenix mount drops,
Shihli — Fri, 04/25/2008 - 12:33If the phoenix mount drops, you'd best believe it won't be an open /roll.
If Garreth is in attendance, he gets the phoenix imo, no ifs/ands/buts. Barring him in attendance, it may possibly be /roll'd or perhaps deliberated amongst raid officers about how it should be distributed. It's the fastest mount in-game and it's a definite status symbol - something that shouldn't just be /roll'd off and won by an alt or a "weekend warrior" (aka someone who only shows up to raid, and never does anything else w/in guild).
Just my thoughts.
I prefer the call system.
Karli — Fri, 04/25/2008 - 12:31I prefer the call system. I like the fairness of the point pools, but, since most of us are in there for only a few items, I think a call system is best because:
-It does not promote a massive commitment to lengthy raiding, when our original 25 man raids take enough of our time.
-It does not completely remove the incentive for bringing an alt, thus minimizing our chances of having a poor turnout (alts could theoretically still get loot).
-It serves the original purpose of going back to SSC/TK, which is to get the core raiders those last few items they are lusting after.
-It avoids the drama that could arise from either a simple /roll system OR a loot council.
Question though, if we are to do a call system, can we only call one item total, one per instance, on per boss, etc.. How does this work??? I for one would like to call about 4 items but I could certainly prioritize them if needed.
I think Shihli put it very
Ardea — Fri, 04/25/2008 - 12:27I think Shihli put it very clear... you have to be braindead if you think an alt is going to have a chance for gear if it is a resonable upgrade for a main.
I do not know anyone in guild who has an raidable alt and thinks otherwise. I really think the question of mains versus alt has been beat to death... It is clear and people should get it by now.
The only exceptions are raids labeled "mAlts"
P.S. I am trying hard to find somewhere in this post to put a smiley... =p

Not only does it force
Dragon — Fri, 04/25/2008 - 12:15Not only does it force people to use the site, it forces people to find out just where they can find upgrades for their class/spec and allows them to form ideas on how to change gear if they get it.
If you are worried about to many people calling multiple items (I can think of I think 5 items off the top of my head) tell them that they should prioritize their calls in case they do end up getting something.
Finally, it does allow people the saturday flexibility.
Finally 2 cents, things like the phoenix mount should not be allowed to be called and just opened up to a raid :D

Dikymo — Fri, 04/25/2008 - 12:13and pulga if you read my post I said only core raiders get a call. An alt/fill in would not be able to roll against you. If its an item that you didnt call then the fill in should be allowed to roll. They have to have some incentive to come help.

Dikymo — Fri, 04/25/2008 - 12:09yeah saedo posting your call when you sign up is a great idea. that way the list is compiled before hand. It also gives people the opprotunity to call something else if alot of people have already called for one of their wanted loots.

How about a /roll with some
pulga — Fri, 04/25/2008 - 12:08How about a /roll with some loot council thrown in? Let's say we just downed Vashj and the only people who need tier 5 pally/shaman/rogue helm are me and a pally that came in that week because we needed a healer. Since it seems to me that the purpose of this raid is to gear up people, would it make sense that I get priority? If we are both core hamfist/lf1m raiders then that wouldn't make much sense, but if the pally is someone's alt/fill in for hamfist/lf1m it migth make some sense. Just because I've never been a fan of strictly rolling off items. Just throwing out my 1 cent.
It's already been said that
saedo — Fri, 04/25/2008 - 12:13It's already been said that raiding mains get priority.
The call system sounds very
Vulk — Fri, 04/25/2008 - 12:06The call system sounds very fair. It gives priority to raiding mains (as mentioned before) for upgrades that end up helping the raid out as a whole. For all the leftovers that arent called for it allows those to be rolled off for alts/off specs for people to have fun with!

If it is call system. How
saedo — Fri, 04/25/2008 - 12:03If it is call system. How bout do all the "calls" on the event node? Compile up the list on the first post of it. That way it also doubles as a check to see which bosses are in demand (e.g. skip Void Reaver if no one wants anything from him). Also as a 3rd effect, forces ppl to use the website! lol
yeah i wouldnt mind goin in

I vote call/roll, but

Using points makes people
Dikymo — Fri, 04/25/2008 - 11:49Using points makes people feel obligated to run every week. Using points for this run is a HUGE mistake. Please dont do it.

I agree with diky.
Grasen — Fri, 04/25/2008 - 11:51I agree with diky. useing points makes it feel like i have to commit to have a fair shot at t5 helm. that kinds defeats the propose of freeing us sats for me. i vote roll or call. actually i like that call idea.
To Diky's credit, it's not
Shihli — Fri, 04/25/2008 - 11:29To Diky's credit, it's not complicated.
Let's say we go in to SSC, and myself, Saedo, and Kybosh (or whomever) all say "I call Tsunami Talisman." No one else calls the Tsunami Talisman.
We kill Leo, and the TT drops. Only the three that "called" it (myself, Saedo, Kybosh) get to roll on it.
It's that simple.
when I say complicated, I
Dufe — Fri, 04/25/2008 - 12:34when I say complicated, I don't mean conceptually. A call system requires a list to be compiled and tracked - this is where the added work/complication comes in. Stopping to review a list on the site and making sure nobody is missed will slow down looting considerably. (e.g. Our experience when trying to determine who is up for a simple nether vortex next by using a list on the site was painful and slow.) FR points, you simply turn on the timer and go. FR points will also tend to be more consistently fair over the long run.
No offense, but that sounds
Dufe — Fri, 04/25/2008 - 11:16No offense, but that sounds like a very complicated version of Saedo's, "Alt's only roll out of NRP" idea.
By call system I mean
Dikymo — Fri, 04/25/2008 - 11:02By call system I mean everyone calls an item at the begining of the run. Only rcore raid mains will be allowed to call an item. When loot is distributed we look at the call list and only the people who called a certain item can roll. if you are the only one that called it GRATS! Any items not called by a main are open to roll on for any alts that may be invited.
Secretary vice president to the vice president's secretary of the department of redundancy department
If this run is going to be
Dikymo — Fri, 04/25/2008 - 10:57If this run is going to be for certain items then using a call system might be the way to go. people are pretty sick of SSC/TK on their mains. Coming into a raid knowing that they have no shot at the piece of gear they want because they missed an "optional" raid is going to cause alot of staffing problems.
Secretary vice president to the vice president's secretary of the department of redundancy department
I should hope that people
Shihli — Fri, 04/25/2008 - 10:54I should hope that people asked to come on alts aren't fucking braindead.
I'm sorry, but if people roll in on alts and expect to grab gear from someone's raiding main who came for *just that one item*, they have another thing coming.
Just putting it bluntly.
