Shannox tips
Alprazalam — Wed, 06/29/2011 - 15:25
As we fight bosses, I'm going to make a Forum post about what I do to help kill them. Makes it easy for other mages to find out what I'm doing and maybe help them. Would also appreciate what others have found out about bosses. If a Forum Topic has not yet been created for the boss you would like to share tips with, then please create one instead of flooding a Shannox Forum with Beth information.

Incanters Absorption
shroom — Thu, 07/14/2011 - 17:03I'm just firing out some ideas here, but this fight seems like i would be perfect for arcane mages because of the predictable incoming damage and the ability to have the Incanters Absorption buff up. If you break rage face off and are the next target, Mana Sheild wont keep you alive per say, but it will definitly give you a nice SP buff before he does get knocked off. Not sure how badly that would hurt your mana pool, but its something to consider. Also depending on your healer situation, if you could get Mage ward up and pop a fire trap every once in a while, not only would it help clear away clutter but again, more damage. Thoughts?
I would stay away from
Alprazalam — Thu, 07/14/2011 - 17:50I would stay away from procing fire traps because they do ALOT of damage, and I usually run the dog through them as often as possible to clear the clutter. We also move both dogs and the boss to a new area that is clear of traps about half way through the fight. But I do like how you are thinking. It would also be nice if someone tested this and seen if the knock back from Mana Shield popping will knock the dog back. That would be nice, and then glyphing mana shield so it is only on a 10 sec CD...... I would say I'd try this but we are going to start HMs on Tuesday and I won't be able to.
Rageface so far. Our
Alprazalam — Wed, 06/29/2011 - 15:29Rageface so far.
Our first few attempts I was fire. My Fireballs cast time is 1.9 secs. During his Face Rage, he has to be hit for a 30k crit for him to stop. Including a Fireballs travel time from my hand to Rageface, Fireball was much too slow to consistently break him out of Rage Face in time even though I was on him the entire time. Shakos asked me to go arcane. Arcane Blast cast time of 1.6 sec and having no travel time worked perfectly to break him out of rage face before he could kill his target. I was having Arcane Blasts with no AB debuffs crit him consistently for above 30k damage PLUS the more AB stacks you have, the faster you cast and the more damage you do. POM AB helped alot to in some situations. Another thing I noticed is that it seemed that whoever broke his Face Rage was automatically his next target for the next 12 seconds. Also, IceBlock can be used to get out of his Face Rage if he happens to pick you. The only other tip I have for mages doing this is try to time your evocation for when Rageface has either just finished Face Rage (and isn't attacking you) or when he is in a Crystal Trap.
Face Rage seemed to be on a minute to minute and 30 sec CD. I remember POM AB someone out of Face Rage, and the next time he did it, POM have 45 sec CD still left on it. That was clearly a minute a 15 sec from one to the other, but I have no hard facts about it yet so.
I agree
Plum — Fri, 07/08/2011 - 11:02arc is perfect for this fight! I agree that it is much easier to break face rage with one ab than it would be to be fire as it would simply take waaay to long to cast a pyro that wouldnt neccesarily crit over 30k. I found when i actually needed to break it i had a couple stacks of ab (~2 to 3) and had the cast time down to about 1.3 to 1.4 sec and hitting for ~40 to 50k by far more efficient to break it.I also noted that whomever broke it was next to be targeted which one could easily pop images or block or invis to avoid being said target. Although i did fail once being the target, pinned and killed.
if you were pinned, you
Alprazalam — Thu, 07/14/2011 - 09:31if you were pinned, you didn't fail, the rest of your raid did..... unless Ice Block was up.
ummm
Plum — Thu, 07/14/2011 - 10:16no it wasnt up, i believe i used it earlier in the fight to the same mechanic tho.... still there was something i could have done. i believe i had invis up at the time.
