Competitive 3v3 Arena
Derchlon — Sat, 01/01/2011 - 19:09
I'm looking to run a competitive 3v3 team, with a viable comp. I would like to go for at least 2200 rating, but we can reset our goals once we get there and shoot higher if we like. The problem is that my needs are pretty specific.
I'd like to run one of the following comps in 3v3, and a quality paladin is required in almost all of them.
PHDk (Holy Pally / Hunter / Death Knight)
African Turtle Cleave (prot warrior, or feral druid / Marksmanship hunter / Holy Pally)
Beast Cleave (Surv or BM hunter / Enh Shaman / Holy Pally)
I have talked to a Prot Warrior who is interested. I'd love to run ATC, as it seems like the most fun and can be very competitive if played correctly. PHDk would also be fun, but I need a really strong Death Knight to be able to pull it off successfully. I already have an enhance shaman that I do a mini Beast Cleave 2v2 with, that I'm sure would be game to try a 3v3 Beast Cleave.
As you can see, the only missing pieces would be a skilled Holy Paladin and possibly a Death Knight.
If you can fill the roles I'm missing, please post here.
P.S. If I can find a quality Death Knight, I would also be willing to pick up a resto shaman for an SHDk team. I would prefer a paladin, but a shaman could provide some extra help with a heroism, Hex, etc.
Hunters and their Keybinds
Derchlon — Thu, 07/22/2010 - 00:35
So I was just reading Saedo's post about gaming mice, and it reminded me just how MANY abilities hunter's have, and our need to use them in a raid environment.
I'll admit, that since I use a standard left/right + scroll wheel mouse, I manually clicked several abilities and cooldowns while raiding. These abilities were situational abilities such as Trueshot Aura, Scorpid Sting, Viper Sting, MD, FD(I really really really wanted to bind this. I did. I promise), Tranq Shot, Aspects, Potions(outside my Nuke CD), as well as almost all of my pet abilities(For pet management, I didn't press a key, I manually pressed "pet passive" and "pet defensive"). I thought I would list for posterity what my key binds actually were for most fights, partly to reminisce and partly justify the future purchase of a full on double rainbow calliber gaming mouse when I finally return to raiding. Some of these are kinda wonky for people used the the "1, 2, 3, repeat" style of play. Mine is a bit more... feel oriented, and should there by not be taken as a priority list. Instead, view it for what they are, a list of abilities that are easy to reach(mostly).
~ : Kill Shot
1 : Arcane Shot+Rabid+Kill Command
2 : Chimera Shot+Silencing Shot+Rabid+Kill Command
3 : Steady Shot+Rabid+Kill Command
4 : Aimed Shot+Rabid+Kill Command
5 : Serpent Sting
6 : [This slot varried a lot, and was generally my "go to" slot for the boss mechanic flavor of the week. Otherwise, Concussive Shot]
7 : Volley
8 : Hunter's Mark (Truth be told, I rarely used 8 or 9. I "felt" that they were too far to the right from my WASD. I usually manually clicked HM)
9 : [I've forgotten what I bind here, because like 8, I rarely used it.]
0 : Readiness
- : Big CD NUKE--> Call of the Wild+Rapid Fire+Potion of Speed+any trinket I was saving for important fight moments like breaking XT's heart.
Middle Mouse : Disengage/Deterrence (depended on which was more important for the fight mechanic)
-----------------------------------------
That is just a PvE list. In order to play a hunter properly in Arenas, you need many many more macros. I can't tell you how satisfying slaughtering the first rogue I saw after binding a /cast !Flare macro to the end of all my shots for a BG. It just wasn't even fair. Now imagine putting something like that more comprehensively on a mouse button... see where I'm going with this?
Anyways, I hope you guys have been pleasantly diverted by this insight into the Hunter.
Derchlon's raiding days are numbered.

As many of you are aware, I am heading back to school in January. I have known for a while now, that I will probably have to quit playing wow, or at the very least cut back or eliminate raiding. I discussed this with Garreth about a month ago, and he suggested that I continue playing until that time came.
3.3 has launched. Kitten Brigade is looking for solid and CONSISTENT raiders. I have already decided that I won't be raiding come January, but I intended to raid until then. With 3.3, I feel this may be the best time to take my leave. I won't be sponging emblems or loot from the raid, and you can gear up someone who would be able to continue raiding when January comes around.
I am not abandoning you all, I will still be around if there is no one to fill my shoes. Know that my presense won't last for long, and that I will be gone with the passing of the new year, so make your decisions appropriately for the next few weeks.
After school is over, I should be ready to raid again but I don't expect a spot.
-------------------------------------
To Kwon and Minorthreat: In regards to our 3s team, I will likely keep my account active. Please note, that I would not be able to do arenas more than 3 hours total PER WEEK. I'm trying to make sure I don't screw this school thing up, but I don't want to leave you in the lurch. We totaly destroy folks, its fun, and isn't time consuming. I hope 3 hours a week is enough for you, otherwise you might want to replace me here as well.
If any of you have questions, or you want clarification on something, feel free to ask me in game or on vent I don't mind repeating myself too many times. :P
PVP UI's - and some help requested!
Kwondre — Tue, 11/24/2009 - 13:37
So after some arena games recently, I've noticed a deficiency in my ability to be aware of cast bars on Gladius.
For example: I'm hitting warrior, holy pally that's behind me and out of my view is bombing him with holy lights. I should be charging these holy lights but I'm tunnel visioned on to warrior's health bar so that I'm not noticing Gladius cast bars.
I'd greatly appreciate it if people would be willing to share their arena UI set ups so I can learn from you guys. Here is mine, though admittedly its my pve setup (I'm at work right now): /node/7765
Basically, my Gladius Frame sits right on top of my Pummel/Disarm/Hamstring Buttons in that little floating bar I've got going on.
One thought I've had is perhaps moving my gladius frame to be right on top of my Omen and Recount Locations...but even then I'm not sure I would be naturally looking there to be able to watch non-target cast bars.
Greatly appreciate any suggestions to help me with this. It's a clear flaw in my game and I want to fix it somehow. Thanks
Blizzard Downs Dragonspear

Where did Dragon go?
That might be the quesiton on a least a coupla peoples mind since Wednesday. And here I am finally with an answer although unfortunately not a timeframe for returning.
On Wednesday after arriving home from Campus I started to play some WAR (picked up the game last weekend) and then did my usual log off an hour before Salmon started so that I could get ready for raid.
Went ahead, logged in as usual PW and all and I get. That is not a valid PW for the account.
Scratching my head, I put it in again. In fact, I proceded to put in my Password for oh a good 5 minutes attempting to log in. Being very sure by the end of it to hit every character exactly. So I figure, oh well maybe something is just wrong with the log in currently I will try blizzard's website. Nope can't log in there either.
So I am like, ok, I'll just have them reset my PW, send me the e-mail and I'll be back up and running.
Then I get sent to the battle.net site. Finally, I get around to the PW reset e-mail screen and it says that it is sent and should be there shortly.
So I open up Outlook and wait patiently, looking at all my other lovely blizzard e-mails I have gotten in the past.
15 Mintues passes still without an e-mail. I do the e-mail reset thingy again thinking something got effed up. No dice. I keep waiting, letting people know in vent that I prolly wont be there for raid that night.
Finally after an hour waiting impatiently for the e-mail. I give up, deciding to call blizzard the following day.
I call blizzard as soon as I get home on Thursday and the rep says that he can't see Battle.net having sent me any PW reset e-mails. But he tells me he will send me one. give it 15 minutes and if it hasn't arrived in an hour to send him an e-mail so he can try looking at the issue before he leaves for the day.
STILL no dice, although I did get a response back from him. And he told me that another reset e-mail should be coming right after his reply. E-mail never arrives.
Friday - I get 2 customer service e-mails from blizzard but still no PW reset e-mail. Temper is beginning to rise at this point since my subscription had just renewed on the 11th. I send another e-mail to my support guy telling him I still haven't gotten the e-mail to fix my crap.
Saturday - I sent in an e-mail to their support people overall asking them if they have some other way I can change my PW or an ability where I can change my e-mail. No response back yet obviously as they work hard during the week and thus get weekends off. (Not berating them for that)
So long story short. I can't log in period. Not with the old PW and obviously not with a reset PW. WIth any luck this will be fixed tomorrow during the day , but I am growing cynical about it.
Anyway, if you would like to contact me in some way. You can find me on AIM: MCorpsParrothead or Yahoo: HurrikanEagle@yahoo.com
P.S. WAR isn't a bad game at all for the pvp minded, but it's pve content is lacking horribly compared to WoW. However one of the first mods I DLed for WAR once I got it installed. Grid for WAR! Known as Square.
Looking for 4 other people to group up and do the following achievement:
http://www.wowhead.com/?achievement=1786#comments
School of Hard Knocks
Take your orphan into the battlegrounds and complete the feats listed below.
Criteria
|
|
Capture the flag in Eye of the Storm |
|---|---|
|
|
Assault a flag in Arathi Basin |
|
|
Assault a tower in Alterac Valley |
|---|---|
|
|
Return a fallen flag in Warsong Gulch |
The sole purpose of this event will be to complete this achievement for EVERYONE in the group - and not necessarily to win the BG's in question. The EotS, AB, and AV ones should be fairly straightforward - the WSG one might be trickier.
Looking ideally for a healer or two and a heap of dps.
IDEAL START TIME: 2pm, Saturday May 2nd
IDEAL END TIME: Whenever the group is done
This achievement may be rescheduled based on what my Lava Crab raid needs.

Retribution PvP in 3.1
Dragon — Mon, 04/06/2009 - 10:31
Just put up a new post on my blog anotherpaladin.blogspot.com
It deals with the 2 Retribution Paladin specs most likely to be seen in arenas at the start of 3.1 and also which glyphs are most likely to be seen by those ret paladins.
If for some reason you can't access blogspot at work, send me a PM or leave a comment and I will post the blog in its entirety here.
Comments and Constructive Criticism welcome.
As the subject says, this is a horde city raid (maybe). Not sure what city or how many, but I'd like to kill a few Horde leaders, wouldn't you?
Anyone's welcome so long as you're 80.
AV weekend is coming, up and if you are alliance chasing the battlemaster title the odds are stacked against you.
With that being said, I will be making AV premades all weekend to knock out as many achievements as possible. Tanks, healers and DPSers welcome.
