Didn't we have one of these?

Reading this story on WoWInsider made me laugh: http://www.wowinsider.com/2008/05/14/the-gquit-macro/
Didn't we have someone who did this? They had the foresight to build a massively long goodbye, then gquit, then logoff. All in a macro. Wow.
Ubuntu WoW: The First Week

Well, I finally moved over to a completely Linux laptop. So far, it's pretty freaking sweet. Once you get used to the "linux" way and get a little comfy with the command line, there's some incredible free and quality software out there. Here are some screenshots of WoW running in windowed mode:
The laptop has a pretty crappy video card, so I hope that I see larger performance on my desktop when I convert it over soon. I also found WoW UI Updater (http://wuu.vagabonds.info/menu.php) which I'm running using a Python interpreter natively in Linux. So far, so good :)
Here's so more screenies:
New Nvidia beta drivers, and a fix for WoW in SLI mode
garreth — Thu, 05/08/2008 - 14:33
The following is post off of Wowinsider.com (click the links!) and addresses an issue a lot of us have had with WoW performance recently. Try these beta drivers and then make sure you do the following:
From Nvidia themselves:
GeForce 6800/6600 GT: Slow performance with World of Warcraft in SLI mode. This is not an NVIDIA bug, but instead the result of a recent patch for World of Warcraft to reduce mouse lag on slower computers by synchronizing the GPU(s). This change is unnecessary for NVIDIA users, and particularly for users with SLI configurations.
For optimal performance when playing World of Warcraft in SLI mode:
* Disable vertical sync within the World of Warcraft in-game video options.
* Enable hardware mouse acceleration and disable smooth mouse within the World of Warcraft in-game video options.
Read on for more.

Moving to Ubuntu Linux
garreth — Thu, 05/01/2008 - 09:31
I've been screwing around with Linux on and off again for the last three years and I think it's time I take the plunge with Ubuntu 8 and it's braindead-easy installer. There are really only TWO things that completely required for me to switch 100%:
- Will it run full Photoshop CS3?
- Will it run WoW (and some derivation of WoWAceUpdater)?
Mistrbook, I know that you're a linux geek and you've at least had wow and an addon updater running for the last few months. Hit me with some feedback.
What we do at 3am

Ardea, Dufe and I were getting bored ganking level 61s in Helfire at about 3am Sunday morning. So we did the next logical thing and kited the giant Pit Commander you see at the portal all the way to Honor Hold. I was tanking in my plate healing gear, Ardea was healing on the fly and Dufe was clearing trash mobs. He does a rain of fire that hits for about 55,000 damage so you have to keep moving or it will gib you. About halfway to Honor Hold he went OOM though, lol!
After releasing him in Honor Hold:
He ran around and squished Wiggles though :(
I haven't really made a legitimate blog post yet, so I think I'll just share a little something that I'm highly interested in (that's not WoW).
A few years ago, Kleine and I spent a few days in London together on our way back to the states after some study-abroad time. There's just something about London that I absolutely loved, and it rang a weird chord in me. At about this time I read an article in Wired about a graffiti artist named Banksy that famously tagged all over London.
I did my time in high school as a little shit-stain punk with a spray can, so the depth and humor of Banksy's work just boggles my mind. He's moved on to some huge international notoriety and very political statements:
Almost all of his stuff is highly appealing to me and he's become a legend in his own time. I can't get enough of it. Anyway, I just thought you all would like to check out his work. Start here: http://www.banksy.co.uk/outdoors/horizontal_1.htm
