Priest
Divine Spirit

I've been thinking about Improve Divine Spirit and how valuable that is to the raid, versus the value of Circle of Healing. My opinion is, given LF1M's current raid setup, circle of healing far outweighs the value of Divine Spirit, but I wanted to open the topic for discussion.
When it comes to healing in a raid there are basically three healing tasks: Tank Healing, Healing random burst raid damage, and healing raid-wide damage.
Tank healing is self explanatory, dropping big heals on Grov. Paladins and Druids are the kings of this, but Priests are decent at it. Greater Heal is fairly mana efficient, heals for a reasonable amount, and when properly pre-cast is generally an effective healing tool. Priests are much more latency susceptible than a Druid or FoL paladin (and roughly equally latency susceptible as the big heal paladins) performing the same roll, but they're certainly adequate.
Random burst raid damage is the situation in which a random target in the raid takes a sudden burst of damage and needs to be rapidly healed up. Rage Winterchill's ice bolt is a good example of this. Paladins are probably the best at this, with FoL, but Priests also shine here with Flash Heal (which, given the new mana regen model is viable) and the accidental bounces of a shaman's chain heal are very effective here.
We've got a lot of new healers that need a LOT of work. We also have some old veterans that could use some new insight into how play their class as efficiently as possible.
I'm setting up this one hour group session for all of us to get on vent and go somewhere to work on honing our skills. We'll be going over things like:
- Configuration of Grid and Grid-addons
- Discussion of Grid indicators
- Using indicators as a realtime guide on where to put heals
- Downranking
- Macros: mouse-over cleanse, auto-trinket-pop, self-casts
- The focus frame
- How To Use Other People's HoTs To Make YOU Better
- Splitting up the raid into healing zones
- Gear choices: Longterm or Power-healing?
- Decisions: How To Decide Who To Heal?
- Why We Don't Always Care About "Healing Meters"
This will be a quick, fun way to get a lot of healing mains some information they might not have been exposed to yet. All healing alts are welcome and highly encouraged to join.
I have this scheduled tentatively for Thursday evening. The time may change, so keep a heads up. Please SIGN UP so we have some numbers on who's coming.
I'd like that all healers read up at the following resources:

Warning- Long, Pseudo-Personal Story Ahead.
Well it all started about 3 years ago now.
I was just turning 14 or so and i saw the X-play bit for WoW about the Zelda Quest and it had me hooked.
So being the young'in i was then i asked my uncle to build me a sick computer to game on and he built me an OK one. so i bought the trial disk and brought it home and installed it. I must say was quite sad when i found out that my CPU speed was too slow. So not knowing it would still run at the time i gave up. A year later when I became a mall rat/started hanging with One of my really good friends my interest was re-sparked.
My best friend Sam and Jeff( Barqz) both played! i was overjoyed. I was sad however knowing my comp wouldn't run it. i used to play on Sam's laptop at the mall and Jeff would come to and he showed me a t1 rouge hanging out around MC. somewhere in the midst of this i got a new computer and tried the install. Again i got the CPU speed not fast enough, but i took a chance and said Fuck It!
Turns Out, It Ran!
Within WoW i started playing horde on Sams friend Jesse's account. this didnt last logn as Jesse came back and i took Sam's second account. shortly there after i came to Gorg to play with Barqz, and then left again to play with his friend ryan. and back and forth this went. server hopping. the highest i ever got on my own was 32 and that was a UD warrior. in those days i server hopped so much just to play with my RL friends. I never really got the experince of it, untill Ryan Quit WoW. Then me and Jeff Stayed on Gorg. For Good.
Then i got a GF and she HATED WoW. so i played less, then played more and it went on and on. and as time went by i grew closer to the game because i played so much. all the time. -Addict-
