Saedo's Current UI
saedo — Tue, 04/28/2009 - 03:14
Well I thought I'd show my current UI with full explaination of what mods I use. I tried to get as much as possible show in action. Though a few of them are extraneous and turned off in raid settings.
Clean Pic:
Marked Up:
So going down the list here's what I have. I probably use way too much now. lol
1. BugSack - To catch all those mod errors
2. Auctioneer (not shown) - Well part of my extraneous package. Track auctions, work out average auction prices, auto undercutting by 1c, etc, etc.
3. Auracle - This is a mod I use now to track raid debuffs/buffs. These are set up to only appear during raids, inside instances. What it does is allows you to set up common buffs to track. Like for example, you want to know if Sunder Armor, Expose Armor, or Acid Spit is up, the major armor debuff. But you don't care which, as long as one of them is up. This mod basically allows you to group those together and light up red if they're not up. And show you durations of the one that is up, though it's a bit weird with a constant zero for auras (lack of duration). The icons are the last one it saw.
3a is my target debuffs, now it's a bit extraneous, I *could've* just set it up for buffs I care about. But I went ahead and put everything in. From left to right, Major Armor Debuff, Minor Armor Debuff, Bleed debuff, 3% crit, 4% physical damage, 10% spell damage taken, 3% spell hit, 5% spell crit, Judgement of Light, Judgement of Wisdom, attack slow, AP reduction, hit chance reduction, healing reduction, and spell cast slowing.
3b is my own raid buffs, this time it is only stuff I care about. Top to bottom, 10% AP, flat AP, Agi/Str, Windfury, 5% crit, Kings, mark, and draenei. Only thing missing is the 3% haste and 3% damage, but it's a bit messed up cause they're built into existing auras rather than giving a new buff. I could put like Ret Aura in, but no way to tell of it's a ret pally's imp version.
4. BanzaiAlert (not shown) - Big glowing screen alert with audio and text that you have aggro. Not just the mob you're targetting. It's if any mob starts targetting you from a distance.
5. Bartender4 - Ma bar mod. Basic stuff really. 5a is the main bar, 5b is my bags and shit, what's harder to see is that I set up 5c and d to be hidden until mouseover. They're simply buttons for my mounts, professions, and other random crap.
6. Chatter - Well switched over from prat. Chat mod to handle various things like timestamps and shit
7. CooldownCount - Big numbers to show CD times, flashes when they go off too.
8. CowTip - Mouseover tooltip mod. It's nice to sometimes have that info when wandering the world
9. DeadlyBossMods - One of the boss mods to get. I have my bigger short timer at 9a. My smaller longer timers going down the side at 9b.
10. ErrorMonster (not shown) - Suppresses error messages (or channels em somewhere else if you want).
11. EventHorizon - The timer mod I use for the various buffs/debuffs I do. Gives me a visual timeline on what's expiring, along with ticks for rupture and deadly. It can also track CDs, and with a bit of fiddling, trinket ICDs.
12. Failbot (not shown) - announces to raid who gets hit with avoidable shit. Not dies, just hits.
13. Fubar - A bar to plug in various info mods or options icons. I have 2 bars, one on top for the main stuff. One on the bottom for my FuXPFu, and the other thing is the Outfitter menu I'll get to later.
14. Grid - For my convenience of looking at raid death status.
15. IceHUD - I mostly use it for a Combo Point watcher along with Energy tracker. Health too I suppose.
16. LoggerHead - Well this is the mod that lets me automatticaly combat log raid instances. When it works.
17. MonkeyQuest - This is the only quest mod I use. It's just an enhanced quest log, I drag it up and open it to list the quest I'm interested in when I use it.
18. Omen - Whoops forgot to make it show, it goes around here when it's there.
19. Ora2 - The raid assistance mod allowing for checks and stuff. My main tank windows go about here.
20. Outfitter - My item set mod. This in particular is the bar for it if you choose to use it. I have 1 main outfit, the rest are just various things that go in a few slots. Like fishing arms the pole, and some fishing gear. Mutilate arms the daggers and a couple other pieces. etc, etc.
21. Parrot - Scrolling combat text, let's you see all your epeen numbers. Though it's also a good range check for melee, so you know you're hitting something. Staring at this pic though, I decided to shrink the font. lol
22. Pawn (not shown) - It's just a little mod for me to input my own stat weights to get a quick assessment of gear.
23. Pitbull - The party frames at 23a, well as a party, they'd go above. I also have a focus that's just below. Target is at 23b.
24. Pokedex (not shown) - Yes horrible name! Well it's my mod to handle randomization summons of pets and mounts. What I liked in particular was that I could set weights to each of them, so certain ones are more likely to appear than others. Rather than an on off kind of thing.
25. Quartz - For me, I mostly just use the target cast bar. Nice big and blue for ease of seeing and interrupting.
26. RatingBuster - For easy rating conversion visuals
27. Recount - For the detailed in game combat log reports
28. Satrina Buff Frames - For customization of my buff / debuff frames.
29. SexyMap - Mostly for looks, and a way to move my minimap around.
30. TrinketMenu - This thing allows me to convenient switch trinkets via pop up menus there. Also able to auto queue trinkets that are on CD so you can use something else and auto switch back.
31. UrbanAchiever - Just a bit of an improvement over the default achievement frame.
32. VanasKOS - A little frame that shows me if there's horde (and alliance if you want) activity nearby. Lists names and tries to determine level. Able to add a KOS list where it'd flash the screen and highlight name if they're nearby. Can even add entire guilds as a KOS mark.
33. XLoot - Improved loot frames
Whew that was a lot to get through. Definitely maybe use too much atm. But dunno what I can trim. lol I certainly don't use it all during raids.
Chronicles of Tuque - Wrath Edition
saedo — Thu, 04/09/2009 - 14:15
So it's been a long while since I've posted my misadventures with Pally alt healing.
Levels 70-80
The first thing I did was messing with mods and UI. With new tricks with Judgements, Beacon, and stuff the old one definitely couldn't do what I wanted. The first thing I wanted was something to better track the Bacon, ClassTimers wasn't good enough for me. I figure since it only tracks Focus, Target, and Self, the Bacon I may need to track more targets than that.
The mod I found was SpellReminder, able to set up timer bars and audible warnings of debuffs/buffs you cast. This allowed me to put a beacon on anyone, heal someone else, have a focus on another person, track judgement debuff on a boss without focusing/targetting it, track mutilple sacred shield casts, while still targetting a different guy, etc. The bars are similar to boss mods, with a "short timer" warning you can move to somewhere more visible to you while having it audibly alert you. And able to set up each buff/debuff to have diff audible warnings so you don't even have to look, just listen for what's falling off.
Anyways, after that was over with, I decided to try my hand at instancing, and it was quite interesting. It usually only took a few mins for me to find a group for instance rested xp and loots! By the time I was 80 the only quests I really did was Dungeon ones, Borean, and Fjord. Well, exception to that is at level 77, I started up on the Hodir quest chain. So I was doing dailies by level 78, and 3 weeks into 80, already exalted with them.
Week 1:
So being a noobie 80 my plan was to get a bunch of heroics under my belt. I wanted the gear, experience, and knowledge that I can pull my weight in anything higher I'd do. Though, I did get into a Salmon VoA25, couldn't do much though, slow and weak heals! Same with a random OS25.
Sticking back to Heroics, chugged along what was approximately an increasing level of difficulty. Nexus and UK were easy targets. VH was sorta but a bit of a crapshoot if the Void Walker showed up, still managed through it, but definitely needed a lot of spamming. Even did AN and OK, but those were shaky, well more cause the groups themselves were too. Strath, Pinnacle, HoS, and even Occulus, were on the completed as well.
Week 2:
With the heroics, I took as much gear as possible, leather, cloth, mail, etc, all to boost stats, fuck the armor. lol Still wearing a leather helm to this day. Also by this time there were of course some epics, heroic ones, heroism emblems ones.
So tried my luck with a pug Naxx10. Partial pug maybe, a few of them did know/run with each other a bunch I believe. Definitely an experience in noob healing. Mistakes were made, I died, people died, Pudo lived, stuff took forever to die, etc, etc. It did take a 2nd night, but did manage a full clear.
For the most part I think I did fine. Mistakes on trying to heal during Heigan dance killed me. Learning to time things on Loatheb took getting used to. Sapphiron took some running around, but it wasn't much trouble. It was Kel'thuzad that became something that forced me to learn more.
The trouble was Frost Blast. First was the folly of not configuring Grid to properly show it, well I thought I did, but it didn't work, so had to look it up. Second, really need better reaction time to handle it, clicking to target then casting heal was a bit slow, and of course the other healers probably fail at this too so when all 3 of us fail, fun times. Especially when they don't have a mod to show em who has it and started relying on yell macros to read then find the person then heal.
Anyways, got the kill eventually, but it definitely forced me to look up another mod afterwards. Clique. Binding spells to mouse buttons basically. Spent a day experiementing with it and mouseover macros with heals. My first thought was to just bind heals to standard mouse clicks, only have a 3 button mouse. But that quickly was a mistake, doing that no longer allowed me to target anyone, anything, or right click for stuff like inspections and stuff, it all got sent to heals.
Scrapping that idea, leaving the standard click alone, I went with modifer keys to combine with clicking to use this. I set up CTRL-LEFT, CTRL-RIGHT, and CTRL-MIDDLE as my Flash of Light, Holy Shock, and Holy Light buttons. CTRL being easy to just rest my palm on for standard healing scenarios. The next set of buttons was Shift ones, putting the Hand of Salv, Prot, and Sac on those. Lastly, the Alt handled my Sacred Shield and Beacon spamming. Had one left over so I just slapped it on Hand of Freedom for that one.
Week 3:
This was also the first week I did heroic HoL, never want to go back. lol
Anyways, Naxx10 this week was a fail pug. Real pug, truly random bunch gathered together with no real organization. Did 2 of the wings before falling apart. lol
But the highlight this week would be Naxx25 partial pug, I guess, seems to be some guild hosted or something. Went through that with minimal difficulty with all my new fanlged mod and macro set ups. I did screw up on Thaddius charges, towards the end, failed to keep watch.
At this point, I've actually finished with Heroic gear. Well, heroic emblem gear. There are still a few upgrades I suppose in heroics themselves, but nothing major or it's an instance I'd like to block from memory. lol
Week 4:
That would be this week. Last night I did a pug Naxx10 again, semi-organized people though so good start there. The problem was, they decided to just 2 healer it. Scream in terror!
It was definitely the most ooming experience I've had. I actually had to pot a few fights, and used Divine Plea quite a bit. And, it was pulled off. Only wipe was at 4H in which only cause the 2 handling the back fudged it up.
And by ooming I really meant ooming. For Sapphiron though it was kinda close sometimes, there were enough breaks in the air phases that I could Divine Plea and stuff without much trouble. For Kel'thuzad, it was very very close. Especially coupled with the mana detonation, even with Divine Plea just ran out of mana for the Holy Lights. Resorted to Flash spamming a bunch at the end barely keeping up both tanks, couldn't afford to keep bacon up, and started to ignore dps, cept for maybe a frost blast one heal to save em.
Anyways, stay tuned for more misadventures of the noob pally!
Event Horizon
saedo — Thu, 04/02/2009 - 18:29
This is my blog post advertising/endorsing this addon I'm using now. http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info11935-EventHorizon.html
Saedo's UI 3.2 So Event Horizon would be the bars I have in the middle of my screen now. What it does is provides a live moving bar for buffs/debuffs you'd be interested in.
Like right now, the top bar is my SnD, the white line you see going down represents "now" in time. Visually I have to just watch the bar approach "now" and refresh it before that.
The 4th bar you see is my Rupture, with little white lines representing the tick. In other words, a visual tick/dot timer.
So what's good about all this is that you can watch events as they happen, instead of staring at numbers. To better optimize your dps rotations.
It also provides a GCD indicator when you hit your buttons to better not get locked like that.
What I've also added are my trinket buffs, which are the 2nd and 3rd bars. Along with that, I've set up the Internal CD which is represented by the darkened bars. That way I can further adjust my attacks if I see ICDs winding down and fire away during procs.
Anyways, the cons of this mod is that it's not very GUI friendly. All the settings must be written out in the LUA files, and they kinda get overwritten when you update mod via stuff like WoWMatrix.
But it's pretty easy to set up. I've adjust mines for colors, 10 sec timelines, and trinkets (not in by default).
Anyways, this ends my speel. Here's the youtube vid they provided to see it in action:
Well I've been thinking the last couple weeks or so to perhaps try a few different things.
Combat
Traditionally Combat, and for a min-max raid, you have to have that 1 Combat rogue in for the Savage Combat debuff (2% more physical damage).
Here are the last 3 weeks of parses of Patchwerk for me:
- 5463 dps: http://wowwebstats.com/kk3hiirwch125?s=598256-630236
- 5053 dps (TotT failkins): http://wowwebstats.com/asquzi5lbrx5i?s=484361-517307
- 5336 dps: http://wowwebstats.com/nmvihnbuf54ya?s=410812-443091
All 3 fights end similarly, 2:40ish. This is around what I should be doing for the time and gear I have, lower-mid 5Ks. For gear I'd have about 4 pieces to go, well 1 major one for a ~100dps boost, the other 3 are ~15, ~30, ~1dps each. So at best it'd be a ~150 dps more through gear.
Though the other way to boost it would be time of kill. Combat being a more CD reliant rogue spec, having 3 of them, the shorter time would ramp up the value of those CDs considerably.
Anyways, to change such a spec could possibly mean losing that Savage Combat debuff. Here's my estimate of how much it was worth to us using the 3 weeks.
- 4,484,957 Physical Damage x 2% = 89,699.14 / 157 sec = 571.33 raid dps
- 5,522,291 x 2% = 110,445.82 / 165 sec = 669.37 raid dps
- 5,769,391 x 2% = 115,387.82 / 160 sec = 721.17 raid dps
So all in all about a 653.96 average raid dps from those 3 raids. Of course in 3.1 this debuff is boosted to 4% for even higher numbers.
Anyways, on to the other specs...
Solo HAT
This would be a bit more interesting to try again. Me and Shinz did this before to exploit a bug with HaT. Though even with it fixed, with the right group setup and all, it can still top damage.
It is still a faceroll spec, spam Evis mostly. Though a tiny bit more thought without the bug, basically hemo or something whenever CPs are low.
This definitely loses the Savage Combat debuff. Though, in all likelihood, can make up the 600-700 raid dps lost through personal dps. But, ideally, then you'd want another rogue to go get that debuff, or Arms Warrior should they exist.
A bonus to this spec would be that it'd be the most survivable rogue spec too, with Cheat Death and a few other avoidance talents.
Well also to see how our raid would suplement a HaT rogue, I went and looked at the yellow crit/sec for everyone:
- Derchlon: 131/157, 109/165, 107/160 = 0.72 crit / sec
- Luminaire: 122/157, 98/165, 109/160 = 0.68 crit / sec
- Grasen: 87/165, 105/160 = 0.59 crit / sec
- Poisondonut: 64/157, 62/165, 64/160 = 0.39 crit / sec
- Luczilla: 66/157, 55/165, 62/160 = 0.38 crit / sec
- Onrique: 61/157,41/165, 46/160 = 0.31 crit / sec
- Garreth: 47/157, 57/165, 72/160 = 0.36 crit / sec
- Karvinen: 63/157, 51/165, 59/160 = 0.36 crit / sec
- Disrupta: 60/157, 51/165, 49/160 = 0.33 crit / sec
- Dangulz: 50/157 = 0.32 crit / sec
- Quisjaa: 44/157, 54/165, 48/160 = 0.30 crit / sec
- Primistic: 48/157, 43/160 = 0.29 crit / sec
- Antiquite: 48/157, 45/165 = 0.29 crit / sec
- Judgedredd: 36/165, 55/160 = 0.28 crit / sec
- Shinzwei: 44/157, 45/165, 42/160 = 0.27 crit / sec
- Knoppix: 49/157, 36/165, 36/160 = 0.27 crit / sec
- Nuitarin: 51/157, 40/165, 39/160 = 0.27 crit / sec
- Deadhli: 47/157, 38/165, 44/160 = 0.27 crit / sec
- Saedo: 41/157, 34/165, 41/160 = 0.24 crit / sec
- Vulk: 38/157, 33/165, 38/160 = 0.23 crit / sec
- Zildo: 28/157, 38/165, 39/160 = 0.22 crit / sec
- Moriella: 35/157, 36/165, 25/160 = 0.20 crit / sec
- Cplnewb: 29/157 = 0.18 crit / sec
- Orky: 28/157, 17/165, 32/160 = 0.16 crit / sec
- Tankard: 36/157, 13/165, 16/160 = 0.14 crit / sec
- Katibug: 10/165, 15/160 = 0.08 crit / sec
- Starshift: 13/157, 10/165, 10/160 = 0.07 crit / sec
- Pudolski: 12/157, 10/165, 6/160 = 0.06 crit / sec
Clearly Survival Hunters are on top. Well hunters in general. Pet crits count still.
Fight Report:
Trash - This spec is definitely weaker on trash. The energy regen is pretty much the lowest of the 3 specs, so spamming FoK was less beneficial. With all the aoe, I wonder if spamming Evis even during this is better.
Archavon (http://wowwebstats.com/oquyc4qqjflhs?s=10286-33170) - Well this being the first one, was trying to get used to it. The CP rate was mostly good, though fluctuated. I definitely capped energy a few too many times waiting for that CP to fill up for an Evis.
Sartharion 3D (http://wowwebstats.com/oquyc4qqjflhs?s=100153-167157) - For the most part it seemed fine. But I assume pet deaths caused some dips in my CP generation. But clearly this is lower than combat due to lower ability to aoe adds. When we got down to single target like Sarth (http://wowwebstats.com/oquyc4qqjflhs?s=100153-167157&a=xf1300070bc000244...), seems to shine ahead obviously.
Malygos (http://wowwebstats.com/oquyc4qqjflhs?s=172287-214684) - Is a bit more iffy. I do lose any burst CD usage for the sparks. And parts of P2 I think pets were out of it for lower CP generation. Plus I'd normally aoe in P2 (with some focus on that skull). But with 6 min attempt being short, that CD usage is prob more beneficial.
Razuvious (http://wowwebstats.com/u4dj1o6aipjau?m&s=50320-77710) - Was a bit more of test. Part way through that fight I decided to just drop Rupture and spam Evis. lol
Gothik (http://wowwebstats.com/u4dj1o6aipjau?m&s=115856-144147) - So I went on the living side for once, cause most of my CP generators are there.
Four Horsemen (http://wowwebstats.com/u4dj1o6aipjau?m&s=177037-208615) - Stuck with Rivendare at the start cause of HaT. With the staying out of Zeliak damage dropped.
Noth (http://wowwebstats.com/u4dj1o6aipjau?m&s=242963-270805) - For the most part was fine Course that period of aoe'ing adds weakened it.
Heigan (http://wowwebstats.com/u4dj1o6aipjau?m&s=292905-318398) - This fight I switched 2 of my casters for the more critty melee ones to leech off them. Able to build up a lead so the dancing portion didn't allow ranged attackers to catch up.
Loatheb (http://wowwebstats.com/u4dj1o6aipjau?m&s=323313-367351) - Of course this fight was made for HaT! Everyone critting all the time, Evis spam away! 7681 dps, no one even close. lol
Patchwerk (http://wowwebstats.com/u4dj1o6aipjau?m&s=424262-456700) - DPS wise, topped it at 6071 dps. But that time spent waiting for the Hateful costed damage and couldn't catch up in time, seems like 14% dps time loss, so got 4th in damage. Though I did make a small mistake in the fight.
Grobbulus (http://wowwebstats.com/u4dj1o6aipjau?m&s=472268-504537) - Still range advantage with that fight.
Gluth (http://wowwebstats.com/u4dj1o6aipjau?s=508409-532167) - Hmm, perhaps HaT generation was a bit lower with hunters having other tasks.
Thaddius (http://wowwebstats.com/u4dj1o6aipjau?s=556515-604384) - This fight felt odd... It wasn't a CP generation thing, but it's as if my Evis weren't being boosted by the damage buffs. Well it was boosted sometimes, but a chunk of the time it didn't seem like it, even making sure I had a 10 stack of buffs. It was weird.
Anub (http://wowwebstats.com/u4dj1o6aipjau?s=621654-642539) - 6217 dps, able to mostly tank and spank it, and avoided the spikes!
Faerlina (http://wowwebstats.com/u4dj1o6aipjau?s=665434-689701) - Made a bit of a huge mistake mistargetting on this boss. lol Oh well.
Maexena (http://wowwebstats.com/u4dj1o6aipjau?s=723580-743895) - Think there was some unlucky interruptions to me and the others.
Sapphiron (http://wowwebstats.com/u4dj1o6aipjau?s=745418-787086) - Topping dps, but need more dps time. lol Made a couple mistakes with the tail too.
Kel'thuzad (http://wowwebstats.com/u4dj1o6aipjau?s=802009-846637) - I know I got mc'd for part of it. P1 was slow for me.
Combat Shiv
This is something I'm tempted to try out cause they're killing this in 3.1. Shiv will no longer allow poison crits. However, for now, it's theoretically a 200dps boost to me.
Though, it plays almost exactly the same way. Just replace one attack for another, one poison for another, one weapon for another. Everything else is the same, well except the spec of course. This even keeps the Savage Combat debuff for the raid. Personal damage distribution is shifted more towards the poisons.
Experience: http://wowwebstats.com/ri3ge5olo1mbo
Trash: I definitely think it's lower in trash damage, and it's obvious in hindsight. I'm using a fast sword OH with Instant Poison on it. That means no 5% crit on that hand, and less poison procs compared to Wound Poison.
Bosses: There's basically not much variation from playing Vanilla Combat. It's similar cycles, CD usages, attacks etc. Just supposedly better by maxing poison damage with Shiv and Instant Poison. It is kinda funny to see my Instant Poison damage outdoing everything except white attacks. That's shiv for ya, instant IP on each shiv.
So did I see a dps increase? Not particuarly. Well some bosses might have dropped, like Heigan and Noth, but those could be positioning issues. Patchwerk was more or less the same. I'd say that RNG might have been a huge factor to me not seeing much of a diff.
Also in hindsight I probably wasn't gemmed properly for it. I gem Agility. Reasons being that with it being similar to AP in dps value it gives me dodge and fatty crits for epeen. However, with Combat Shiv being poison reliant, that means AP mostly likely is the better choice for it. Agi won't affect poison critting, so pumping it all into AP would've boosted that.
I think I'm going to shift to AP gemming, should see higher average numbers hopefully.
Also, was running a new mod that I had to get used to, that's could be partially why I'm not seeing a huge diff. But I think I'll advertise about that mod later.
Day 2: http://wowwebstats.com/bevwh4z3xz5ke?m
For Sarth and Maly it did feel a bit better. Though it seems still weakest on FoK spamming so dropped a bit in damage overall for Sarth. Maly I screwed up a bit and missed hitting Killing Spree. But overall I was more used to watching things for it.

WoW Lore Speculation
saedo — Wed, 02/04/2009 - 15:25
All right I got to thinking about future patches and if Blizz goes according to inital plans (that can change), they intend for 3.1 Ulduar, 3.2 Surprise Instance, 3.3 Icecrown Citadel. There is some fan speculation that they should throw another patch in there, 3.4 for Icecrown and have 3.3 as another surprise instance. Well I'll get into more detail as I list things. The point of this is for me to list down baddies and talk about them.
*** POSSIBLE SPOILERS ***
(so don't read this thread at all if you don't want those)
Yogg-Saron
3.1 - There are definitely signs that point to him being in Ulduar. Corruption of key figures in Storm Peaks... Sulphuric attackers (fire elementals likely so Old God controlled)... Loken defeated in Halls of Lightning and stating a master...
3.2 - But he makes more sense if he were in Azjol'Nerub, down where Arthas and Anub'Arak faced off against a Forgotten One. Where the cultists of the Old Kingdom are. This is one of the speculations of the surprise instance.
Ulduar could merely have a lackie Yogg-Saron set up to run the place. Ragnaros the Firelord! Well, not really. lol
Expansion - There's some talk where he could be set up as the next big expansion villian. That either means we only poke his eye out and he comes back in a more full form, or don't face him at all. But expansion villians need territory we can invade (and level in), like how Illidan was set up to be the inital villian cause he had Outland (yes finished off with Kil'jaeden), and Arthas with Northrend.
I suppose he could be in the Emerald Dream, being close to Ysera he could be responsible for the Nightmare corruption. It would be Azeroth but how it looked in it's original condition. Though if we invade that and set up base camps and roads everywhere, dunno how that's gonna work.
Other thing I can think of is Maelstrom. But it's probably a different Old God at work down there, doubt Yogg-Saron goes there. Depending on source there's 3-5 Old Gods kicking around. There's speculation there's one underneath Tirisfal (west part of it), and possibly one under Black Fathomdeep.
Deathwing
3.1 - This one would be out of left field but hear me out. The attack of black dragons are pretty "sulphuric" themselves. He was corrupted by the Old Gods, so could be working directly under Yogg-Saron now. Then he'd be the corrupting force, either directly or via Yogg-Saron.
3.2 - But a lot of people are more inclined for Grim Batol as the instance with him experimenting with Twilight drakes. Though I offer another location, Deathwing's Lair on Outland. It'd have to be a new floating rock east of Hellfire, and gives us a reason to visit Outland again (like with KZ on Azeroth).
Expansion - Deathwing just doesn't seem to have a large domain we can invade. Though they could always make one up by having him I dunno, conquer the South Seas or something. Or expand upon his Outland base to be much larger than it probably is, like a 2nd half of Outland. Or, being the Earth Warder he's supposed to be, can raise a new continent on his own, perhaps the chunk of Kalimdor he sunk into the ocean back when the Well of Eternity exploded.
Nozdormu
He's pretty much been heavily hinted at being the one behind the Infinite Dragonflight. Back when he was created or something, the Titans did show him exactly when and how he'd die so he'd not get all abusive with his powers. So his actions now could be interpreted as fighting that fate, ensuring that fate (saw he'd die by the hands of 10/25 would be heroes), or maybe just simple Old God corruption.
3.1 - Nothing really points at this. Unless it's just a one boss encounter underneath Wyrmrest Temple or CoT.
3.2 - Probably CoT, or something in Crystalsong if he pops up. I can only really see Wyrmrest as one boss encounters.
Expansion - Again this guy doesn't really have a large domain we can invade. Though, an idea for this would be to make it entirely in Caverns of Time. Either make it enitrely in the past, like seeing Azeroth before the Sundering. Or have some weird amalgamation of zones in which each corresponds to a different time period. The goal would be to fix all that to save the timeline.
Frost King Malakk
3.2 - Well only possibly this patch. He'd be the leader of the frost trolls of Zul'drak. Gundrak (deeper parts), is another speculated candidate for the surprise instance. Not much more is really known about him beyond this.
Anyways, that's all for now, go go Lore Nerds!
