The Great Boomkin Experiment

Disrupter — Sun, 07/13/2008 - 20:55

I've been allowed to Boomkin it up in alot of instances recently, and I've been looking over parses and trying different rotations. I'm really interested in seeing what a Boomkin can do, and I'm sure some people in guild are interested in said subject as well.

I'm making this blog to post some personal dps record I have made as Boomkin in the 25 man's. With a date of the lowest dps record, and a date of the highest dps record. Just so I can see my progression as I gather Zul'aman and other pieces of gear.

If anyone is curious as to what a Boomkin really brings to raid besides their own personal dps, they bring the fire.

Improved Fairie Fire: +3% Hit for all physical damage. This includes tanks, hunters, even hunters pets. Anything that does physical damage will make use of this.

Insect Swarm: -2% Hit for the boss, it stacks with the hunter's hit reduction debuff as well. Basically, 2% avoidance.

Moonkin Aura: 5% Spell crit for everyone in the Boomkins group. This can be useful for healers AND dps. How this benefits the raid can be pretty complicated to explain, but with the raid we have in hamfist, it can help our dps and healers, that aren't even in the Boomkins group, at the same time. (Example, a shadow priest mindflaying while a shadowbolt debuff is up, and regenning that groups mana.)

Some people scoff at Boomkins, and some praise them. I'm attempting to see, if they're worth a raid spot, in the best way I can. Taking the wheels of a Boomkin in raids, and optimizing him to the best of my abilities, to see just how well it scales.

Shihli's job and such

Shihli — Thu, 07/10/2008 - 12:38

So I got a little promotion of sorts at work - I'm no longer a "junior" process engineer, but rather an "associate" process engineer.

I've also been offered an opportunity to do some on-site work at a local refinery which I believe I will be taking.  While this shouldn't affect my raid availability at all (as I should be working the same hours, now I just have a commute), I figured I'd make a post about it.  The refinery's about a half-hour away, so my evening commute may or may not make me late for raids.  I don't anticipate this will affect my ability to raid or my raid attendance in the future.

Just figured I'd put the word out there.

Account Hacked :(

Desteran — Wed, 07/09/2008 - 10:42

Well. It looks like I will be staying Resto for a while (not that I planned on respeccing anytime soon). I logged in this morning and found that a bunch of my gear was missing. I have logged into two of my 4 70's and have so far counted 42 pieces of gear missing not to mention spent badges and gold.

They did leave me with most of my resto set intact and all my pvp gear on Desteran which is good. Although I am missing a Totem and cloak out of my resto set now. I ran virus scan and spybot but any and have opened an ingame ticket as well as emailed account admins at blizzard and, or course, changed my passworkd. Anybody that has any experience with this, please to let me know. How long will I have to wait for my gear to get restored? Do they need a full list of all missing items or will they be able to figure that out for themselves? Are there any other precautions I can take to insure this does not happen again?

Damn it and thanks ahead of time.

Keeping With The Tankadin: Director's Cut - The PRIMAL Editiion

Fjork — Wed, 07/09/2008 - 08:53

Well, it has been a long time with very little input on my Tankadin Series.

Eventually I intend to move these to book pages, but that will be after some serious revamps in the content, direction, diction, grammar, and narration of my Tankadin blogs.

For now, let's discuss why I decided after this hiatus to create another Tankadin blog. It involves Craftable Items. What can I buy/have crafted that will give me an edge for Raiding at level 70? What materials should I gather on the way to 70? What materials should I just buy, because it's faster to farm Netherweave to sell bandages at 6g a stack? These are questions I frankly would like answers to. On Thunderlord I was promised a pile of mats/crafted items by my co-workers that w0w-quit for AoC right as I hit 70. Didn't quite get what I was going for, ya know?

So now, even with Carno (my brother) promising me alot of things, I need to know what I NEED, how I can get it, and what to get on the way there. I'm halfway feeling that the [Primal Water] might be an item I should just buy from the AH. I'm going to need ALOT of them, but there just isn't a feasible way to AOE grind them. [Primal Life]s can be easily farmed by Pedran at level 63+ because I'm going to have ALL the necessary Bog Lord Tendrils/Glowcaps/etc to get him his [Petrified Lichen Guard] at 63 and put a [Felsteel Shield Spike] in it. Bog Lord's are easy-fun for AOE-grinding and good experience at that level from the Dead Mire. [Primal Fire] and [Primal Earth], these I should have enough of when I finish mining 240 [Adamantite Ore]. Should I mine that much though? Would it be more in my interest to mine 100, AH the ore, and buy crafted items with the gold I make?

And So It Begins...

Vulk — Wed, 07/09/2008 - 04:40

Hey everyone, I'm sorry I've been MIA for the past few weeks only popping in my head here and there. On top of moving, internet issues and getting sick just to add insult to injury, I have been spending time living with my dad for the past week who conveniently doesn't have internet. College is starting soon so I have been busy setting up appointments with advisers, getting rooming sorted out (they threw me in a dorm with a bunch of English majors when my major will be engineering so I wanted to switch to a dorm with more people that have my same interests.) and registering for classes. Then on top of that I have been working my ass off trying to get a little more money to pay for all of it. Oh and I have been helping finish my uncle's basement building walls, throwing up drywall, texturing, laying in carpet and soon to be installing a bar.

When classes start on August 25th I will most likely be quilting wow cold turkey to focus on classes. I wish I could say I will be available for every raid until then, hell I want to be available, but if things keep going the way they are It looks as if I will be extremely busy. On second thought I may quit more like cool turkey because I have a feeling I will be poking my head in every now and again to see how everyone is doing, I don't think I could not do that.
